it’s expensive to be poor
I had a grocery order accidentally go through twice. It was an instant cancellation, but it turns out there’s a 3-5 business day wait to get the refund, which put my bank account $25 in the red until that refund could happen.
So after some panicking (this has never happened to me before) I borrowed 30 dollars yesterday, making my balance five dollars. Unfortunately, the bank did not process that deposit until the NEXT day – today (July 18). As of this afternoon, no overdraft fee was charged.
I checked it again just now tonight however and they now have charged a $25 fee for my less than 24 hour period of being literally two pennies over the no-overdraft limit. This new charge means I’m now overdrafted AGAIN and they will charge another fee bc it’s now after business hours and even if I can pay (I can’t) it won’t go thru til tomorrow at the earliest. So I need a minimum of $45.02 to not overdraft a THIRD time.
This was already a tight month. My sister and I were late on the payment for our mother’s headstone this month because everyone here is incredibly broke and various emergencies have popped up. Some legal paperwork I need to deal with is going to require a bunch of transportation I already couldn’t afford BEFORE this incredibly expensive mistake.
If anyone can help me, I’d really appreciate donations. The refund for the cancelled grocery order, when it does come, is not going to be enough to pay a whole spiral of overdraft fees AND the $30 I borrowed to pay the first one. Not to mention I was expecting to live on that money until next month.
I know times are tough all around, and I really am sorry to ask, esp over such a stupid reason, but at this point I have no choice. Please only donate if you are a financially comfortable adult who genuinely wants to help.
