The kind of girl that was popular just because she was actually nice to people and did the work that most students wouldn't even DREAM of caring about
(Ofc everyone thought she was stuck up but really that wasn't the case at all, she just had a lot of ideas of how her life should go)
She basically overcompensated for everything because she never wanted to be looked at differently
She had surgery when she was a baby due to complications and that's why she's an amputee
(Max made her a fancy dancy leg when she joined the team, before that she used one that she made herself)
Ren is a MASTER swimmer! (Almost as fast as her husband -cough-)
When she graduated she KNEW she wanted to make a difference, and it was easy to choose something with water since she was already so connected with it.
(Her dad who was also a professional surfer, but helped save marine species in his spare time)
She graduated top of her class and it wasn't long before Prof. Inkling/Jade found her
(She's basically Dashi's hero . . .)
You'd never know it, but girl was DEVIOUS!!!
She's got quite the sarcastic humor, and loves pulling pranks
It's how she and her parents got along so well
She does actually get phantom pain, and she has methods of dealing with it since she's had it so long, but every now and then you'll catch her struggling :,)
SO GIRLY, LIKE HER PERSONALITY IS "BUBBLE GUM PRINCESS"

Partners in Crime: Abby, Harry, (sometimes) Slye
It's not that she didn't like Max . . . it was just funny to see her annoyed
See if Serenity got in trouble, she'd just get a scolding and a slap on the wrist . . . if Abby got in trouble . . . pray for her . . .
If she wasn't hanging out with them then she was with Cardi, when she wasn't with Cardi you'd find her following Trench around like the (love struck) puppy she is
(She had first aid experience but Trench basically taught her everything she knows)
Day 1 of being on the crew, Ren almost fainted from the sight of Trench . . . not because of how "scary" he was . . . no . . . because of how—SMOKING. HOT. HE. WAS.
She fell faster than Abby did, and dang was she a stumbling mess or what??
Girl Code of course, she was always super supportive of Abby (as was Abby to Ren - like I said "partners in crime"), but DANGGGGGG did she want him 😲💦
(I'm a romantic what can I say? We don't get enough supportive love triangles these days)
When everyone else was around she was confident and cool, but as soon as Trench walked in . . . girl melted
Let's just say her crush ended happily ever after~ 😏
Yes, she made those bracelets (she helped little Emma make the green/red/white ones)
The bracelets signify how close they are with someone on the crew (top to bottom, right to left)
Magenta/Samara, Pink/Prof. Inkling, Orange/Max, Yellow/Cardamon, Dark Green/Emma, Light Green/Prof. Kelp, Blue Green/Serenity, Ice Blue/Abby, Sky Blue/Trench, Dark Blue/Slye, Purple/Det. Harry
(It wasn't about favoritism it was genuinely about show how special your bond was for certain people, strengthening those relationships)
(Little does she know that after all these years everyone on the crew still has both of their bracelets)
That's why when Sam died it was harder on everyone . . .
Abby and Max were constantly fighting, Slye's anxiety was through the roof, Inkling refused to leave his study. Cardamon couldn't focus to save his life (or theirs), Harry disappeared all together. The only ones who seemed to have it together was her and Trench, but even they were struggling.
Harry disappeared without a trace hours after Sam was pronounced dead. Out of the actual crew, Max was the first to leave, then Cardamon, Slye came after. For a while it was only Inkling, Abby, Serenity, and Trench.
Ren tried all she could to help Abby, seeing as she was mourning the hardest. But eventually they couldn't keep going, and slowly she managed to convince Trench to leave with her . . .
They joined the S.O.S. with Freya, still feeling the need to help the ocean even if they couldn't be Octonauts.
That was the last time they saw Max or Slye. Slye eventually joined Safari Solutions, but they never really talked. The only ones they ever really kept in contact with was Cardamon, Prof. Kelp, and Prof. Inkling.
Prof. Inkling was the last person to leave the Octopod. Even when it the ship itself was rusting and decaying around him, he still did his work in that same old study until the day that the new Octopod was built.
She and Trench went to Captain Barnacles' ceremony (2ish yrs later), when Prof. Kelp/Inkling passed over the role of captain too him, finally laying Samara's memory to rest. [ Ref ]
That was the last time they saw Abby. She looked much older then, tired even. Serenity had attempted to talk to her but Ren only got a few words out of her before she left entirely.
She and Trench now live peacefully with the S.O.S. Continuing the work with with their new found family, to make the ocean a better safer place . . .
