Without humanity to reign, this Earth is ruled by animals alone. From the beginning of this planet animals began to evolve, some evolving faster than others. Many species decided to stay where they were only developing based on their environment, while others began to build civilizations and create new technology, slowly creating a truly inhabitable planet.
A professor by the name of Marin Kelp created what is known as the A.S.A. —
The Animal Salvation Association.
An international organization that ensures the safety of every animal on Earth. And from this collective, branches were formed . . .
The Octonauts — The Protectors of the Ocean — [ Role: Ocean Safeguarding ]
C.L.A.D.E. — The " Covert League of Animal Detective Experts " — [ Role: Justice/Legal Department ]
Together these branches protect the world and anything that might harm it, hoping one day to create a peaceful planet with no war and no pollution. A place where everyone can be equal.
Of course not everyone wishes to be subjected to such a cause. Some believe that it is oppressive, and would rather cause harm than be safe from it.
So, many have begun to fight against the A.S.A., carrying on through secret gatherings, creating organizations, gangs, and Black Market trades.
It’s imperative, more than ever, that the branches of the A.S.A. protect not only the environment, but themselves as well.

So I based this logic/headcanon purely off of a comment Ranger Marsh made in his introduction episode “The Great Swamp Search”. Basically building worldbuilding of that same logic as what it is in real life except with a small twist. (And I’m so glad someone asked because I’ve been dying to share, this quote has changed the course of my world)
Ranger Marsh: “The Everglades are full of invasive species. Critters that come from somewhere else and don’t belong here.”
Peso: “How did they all get here?”
Ranger Marsh: “Different ways. Some were pets that got loose, others were stowaways on ships. But one things for sure, they all cause a LOT of problems!”

That being said, most invasive creatures fall under the Wilde/Primal umbrella. Creatures who live off the land through their natural habitats/environments, but for some reason or another found their way somewhere they didn’t belong. [ Ex: Lionfish in the Western Atlantic ]
Marsh himself said that in the world of the Octonauts there are animals who are kept as pets. So I adapted that knowledge to my version of this world which I’ve lovingly named as “Companions / Companionaries”.
Animals that fall under Wilde/Primal can be kept as pets, but that doesn’t mean that it’s always safe. Like keeping a black widow in your house and calling it a puppy. It’s not going to be safe. Same reason applies to other animals that even humans keep like big cats, wolves, primates, etc. — which obviously isn’t recommended.
Since this is an anthro world I created a system (post above) to differentiate between different levels of evolution. Wildes/Primals are just like any animal you and I see today, but they can talk.
Basically I leaned into the pets idea and figured that because the world was full of just animals, then there was more to gain from resources made by those animals. So I’ve introduced a few things into the mix . . .
Legal:
Pets (aka Companionaries):
Animals that choose to live under the care of another based on their personal needs. Many “domestic” species (cats, dogs, birds, etc) find ease of living, based on how far they evolved [ Ex: lion -> house cat ] within homes or “housing arrangements” [ Ex: Stables for horses - fenced pastures for cows - etc ]. They seek out being “adopted” into a “family unit” so they can give companionship where it’s needed while getting food and shelter in return. (Many are even used as service animals)
Spiritual Companion:
This is a religious tradition in many cultures (like the Palace Clan) where one Bipedal Creature (Elected/Forerunner/Variant) is bonded with a Non-Bipedal Creature (Wilde/Primal) — [ Ex: Reptiles, Mammals, Avians, Marine, etc ]
Both creatures are bonded over a certain amount of time (deep bosom friendship, soulmates) but the Non-Bipedal creature has full autonomy, they can go wherever and do whatever they please. They don’t have to necessarily live with their Bipedal friend, they can have their own home outdoors if they choose too. The Bipedal is just there to take care of them if they ever need it. [ Ex: Cuddles, grooming, food, shelter, etc. ]
Some Spiritual Companionaries have jobs or special skills that allow them to help their Bipedal friends in some way [ Ex: Herding, Letter Carrying, Scouting, Heavy Lifting, etc ]
In ancient times the Non-Bipedal Creature was usually worshiped in some way. (Think Egypt and their obsession with cats) They were seen as sacred, and were to be treated with exact respect and kindness. (Basically like a Spirit Animals, except they’re living breathing creatures that we can see)

Poaching:
The Act of Catching, Trapping, or Killing wild animals/protected plants/etc — The poaching business is very popular and in some cases lethal to certain populations of species.
Black Market Trading:
Trading animals/resources under the guise of making a profit to benefit one’s self/company/etc. — Has been known to be a main reason for underground fighting rings and breeding operations.
WITH ALL THAT BEING SAID—!
To properly answer your question:
“Invasive Species” are usually caused by . . .
Neglectful ownership of a companionary (allowing it to run away by accident or purposely releasing it into a place where its species doesn’t belong)
Black Market Trading (Sellers/Buyers have been known to release certain species in the environment to reduce costs on land because their presence “ruins” the area. Or the companionaries escaped due to poor living conditions given to them by their owner)
“Wandering” (A term used by many experts meaning: To wander into environments unknown based on food sources, curiosity, or changes in ecosystems (known mostly for . — (Ex: A mother snake accidentally finding its way into a crate that’s loaded overseas)
Poaching/Black Markets are very common in this world and are something that many governments are trying to stop/avoid if possible. Many animals have gone extinct because of these methods, while others are on the brink of being so.
Many organizations (like the R.S.R. & Safari Solutions & the Octonauts) have gone out of their way to be activists for the Non-Bipedal folks. Wildes and Primals help run the world after all. I mean just imagine a life without fish! (Which is one of the main food sources for this world mind you)
The Black Markets and back-alley auctions have started becoming a problem and only now have people begun to truly see how bad it really is. So when you start digging into invasive species, it’s not just about the environmental impact, but the societal impact as well.
Since everyone is an animal, everyone is affected by this. Food, land, water, plant life, everything is affected. And if things are not in their rightful place, if there are people out there purposefully forcing invasive species and purposefully ruining the environment, things can go down hill really fast.
There’s a lot of deeper issues that people don’t realize until they start doing the math. Unfortunately not every government is working towards better solutions. Some even profit off of the less fortunate. So when our lovely friends at the A.S.A. come in, it’s not always easy to accept the help our planet so desperately deserves.

Sadly it is just a coincidence, I haven’t watched Star Wars since I was a teen so I wouldn’t know who that is. The only names I know are from the “main cast” as in, Luke, Leia, Han Solo, Chewy, etc etc. I’ve only ever watched Episodes 4-6, The Force Awakens, & The Last Jedi. I’ve seen an episode/clip or two here and there of other shows but I never actually watched them if that makes sense.
Fun Fact:
Samara’s first name is (mostly) Hebrew ("guardian," "protected by God," or "watchful") and even though she’s Indian I really wanted something strong and feminine. I made Emma (her daughter) long before I made any other characters for this story, so when I made “Jade” her last name I kinda just filled in the blanks when I made her parents. Jade worked out in the end because that feels like a very Indian sounding name even if it’s literally a gemstone and not actually Indian.
I figured it would be cool if Emma took her mom’s maiden name when Sam died and became “Prof. Jade” in her honor. But I figured that might also be the result between a strained relationship between her and her dad Prof. Marin Kelp. (Not keeping her last name as Kelp I mean)
Another Fun Fact (lol):
When I name my characters I do one of three things . . .
I usually have a bunch of names pre-saved from Pinterest or I look up names on there usually using “fantasy names” in the search and I get a lot of good ones
I pull up a generator (usually “Fantasy Name Generators”)
I have a culturally appropriate name that I give them based off of research.
Very few times do I actually make a reference to someone that’s already in another media. Just because I want to keep it sort of unique.
But every now and then I do splurge and grab a random name like Yukon (because Yukon Cornelius from Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer is an ✨icon✨ and he deserves to be referenced — but for some reason I will only ever name my horse characters after him soooo 💀)

Even though she knows he doesn't want anything from her in return, she still goes out of her way to apply her skills to his missions, and eventually that made her a permanent member of the team
They only use her poison (which they store away most time) if he's exhausted all other opportunities, because she has to use a specific diet in order to create poison, and it takes weeks to regenerate/discard
Her love language is touch, so it's very hard for her when she does have to create poison for the missions. The Spectator, even though he knows it could kill him, goes out of his way to make sure she has someone to lean on (physically/emotionally)
She likes to hang onto him, whether that's his sleeve, the hem of his shirt, or she wraps her arms around his torso (she'll just pop up behind him out of nowhere and hang onto him, he doesn't mind)
Thankfully he created an anti-toxin "just in case" (We all know it's because he cares about her and knows how much it means to her)
(He was started to develop it just before they met, but basically upped the anti when they met because he saw how much it hurt her when people avoided her)
(Their canon relationship is platonic, but I'm not opposed to a "fanon" version that is romantic (lol, me making a fanon version of my own relationship?? pffttt neverrrrr), I think it would be very cute tbh)
She doesn't use her poison very often, only when she's in the field. But she prefers being behind a screen rather than being there in person. She's always been better with comms
Imagine: Dark room, sat in her desk chair buried under fluffy/fuzzy blankets and a hoodie, snack fridge and sodas/energy drinks at the ready, headset on, RGB's in the background, about to hack the crap out of this government building with a Minecraft YT tutorial playing in the background

But it “takes place” in season 1) is Y.N.’s last (stop) “season” before they’re to return to Zootopia (where they live and are employed) to be placed on a new assignment. Little do they know that the Rimba Races are actually going to change both their life and their sister’s life forever. Seeing as a certain “bazillionaire” may or may not be scouting for a new Filmmaker for his Documentary series . . .

Basically if they had gone home at any point before this, Professor Kelp probably would’ve had to find someone else to do his documentary for him, and then we wouldn’t have a story now would we?

Thank you for asking respectfully. There’s a lot of people who haven’t been and it’s hard to interact to questions like this.
For one, It’s on the list because it’s still apart of the Au. I still love watching the movie and the world-building aspect of course, but due to the spamming and other issues with Rango fans, I took it off the Ask “list”. People were not being respectful so the privilege was revoked. Unfortunately there are people who go out of their way to have it ruined for everyone.
The mere thought of doing anything related to Rango at the current moment makes me incredibly uncomfortable. I’ve already aired my grievances on other posts so I won’t be bringing the issue up anymore, because those same people have made themselves out to be the victim or “you didn’t understand me so I’m going to spam you with my side of the argument” and I don’t want to spread that kind of negativity.
The main issue is, because I have Anonymous Asks on, people can get away with spamming or just being rude in general and I can only speculate about who it is from other interactions. I won’t ever call anyone out unless I feel they’re a danger to myself or other creators. I only leave Anon’s on because it’s for the people who genuinely have trouble communicating through their socials, and don’t want to be doxxed or threatened in any way. (Which same, I can’t handle getting yelled at over nothing)
Maybe one day I’ll accept Rango Asks again, but for now if I get any they will either be deleted (if they are not respectful) or ignored (for the moment) and will be addressed when I’m ready to take Rango Asks again.
For now I want to move in a more positive direction. Rango will get his redesign, but that may not be until we actually get a mention of him story-wise, and that will be when everything is published.
I have a certain timeline in my head for this blog, because the story needs to be explained in a certain way or no one will understand what’s going on. I’ve just had to accept the tough reality that no matter how organized my blog is, people aren’t going to understand what’s going on until it’s written out. So the best I can do is give small visual/hints until I’m able to publish the story.
Thank you for the ask, I hope that helped. I’m not trying to call anyone out or hurt anyone’s feelings. I’m just trying to protect my heart, and my blog. Thank you for sending this Anon! As you can probably tell it took me a VERY long time to get this project done. I tend to psyche myself out before I even start a project so that was one of the big reasons it didn't show up until now.
Another reason is the state of the blog. I've been very meticulously posting certain projects before others, so a lot of what I want to work on has to wait because this stuff has to be posted first to reintroduce new followers and kind of regain the current ones with properly pieced lore.
I have another post after this waiting in my drafts, so you guys will be seeing a lot more Gen 1 content for the next little while, while I set up the remainder of the Risen Arc (backstories). The majority of Risen is purely to explain Y.N. & Fale's backstories involving The Palace Clan (their family and the basis of the whole story aside from the Gen 1 Octonauts).
We will be deep diving into what happened to Captain Samara, as well as getting to know our villain/cryptid cast very very soon. So please sit back and relax as I put together the visuals for this story.
(Currently the posting date for the "novel" hasn't changed [ Dec. 1st 2026 ] (I will be posting weekly) but I'll let you guys know if anything does change as I am human and I've been going through a lot this year just to get this far in my writing/drawing process.)
For once I'm not counting on views. I'm trying solely to focus on getting the story together as well as the blog before the due date. I can't afford to be disappointed anymore, it's not productive especially when I'm trying to do what I love.

(I missed the first week, and apparently I forgot that my iPad hates me and refuses to charge—It’s not even that old bro screw me ig—so with two weeks left you bet I’m gonna do everything to help my team even if we lose because let’s be honest Comedy is on top by a mile we didn’t even have a chance but gosh dangit I’m gonna attack the crap out of them for the sport of the game and because I’ve never had so many strangers passionately draw my characters and just expect me not to attack them back)

(The only way I can cope is watching stupid/funny SMii7Y/Daukey/Sovi videos on YT ig, that or apparently random Minecraft YT’bers that I’ve never heard of before going “undercover” in their friend’s servers . . . no I’m not crazy, yes they’re already at war — Because apparently FB Reels have now been giving me anxiety~ Because 1. ADHD & 2. Heaven forbid I try to do something other than TikTok/Insta, and now I probably have over a 1000 videos my friend sent me that I have to react to 😭)
