The minister says the situation in Cuba is "extremely tense", as a US-led blockade of oil to the country causes widespread power cuts.

Fucking sickening, heartbreaking, disgusting. Hospitals, ambulances, water pumps, so much infrastructure shut down and so many lives hurt and lost because of it, all of this at the whim of the world's most brutal empire because they can't stand to have their will resisted so close to their shores by a society that has chosen time and time again to stand proud for the dream of a better world, a world without this blood-soaked hegemony.

There is something sooo deeply American going on with Seattle Children’s Hospital that I think would brick the minds of everyone outside of the United States.

The CHILDRENS hospital has to restrict helipad landings because of noise complaints from the wealthy home owners living next to it. Only the most urgent patients can land directly at the hospital. While the other kids have to land a mile away and are taken to the hospital via ambulance. Which is an unnecessary risk to the child’s life and also makes the families pay for the helicopter AND ambulance.

Queer refugees in East Africa are living at the intersection of multiple forms of vulnerability fleeing violence at home, only to face new risks in displacement.

Across the region, many LGBTQ+ people are forced to leave their countries because of criminalization, persecution, and threats to their lives. In some places, same-sex relationships are still punishable by severe penalties, even death.

For those who reach countries like Kenya or Uganda, safety is not guaranteed. Refugee camps such as Kakuma have seen reports of discrimination, attacks, and tensions affecting LGBTQ+ residents, even as humanitarian agencies try to improve protection.

Recent years have also seen more people fleeing harsh laws like Uganda’s Anti-Homosexuality Act pushing queer individuals to seek asylum across borders, often into already strained systems.

Beyond physical safety, queer refugees face isolation, lack of healthcare, limited legal protection, and mental health challenges shaped by both displacement and identity-based trauma.

And yet, across East Africa, queer refugee communities continue to organize, support each other, and demand dignity, visibility, and rights.

Queer refugees are not just statistics they are people seeking the same thing anyone would: safety, belonging, and the freedom to live openly.

A New STI is Spreading in the U.S. What You Should Know.

The infection, caused by the fungus Trichophyton mentagrophytes type VII (TMvii), spreads through intimate contact and has predominantly been seen among men who have sex with men. It causes painful, coin-sized rashes on the arms, buttocks, trunk, legs, and genitals. While infections can be treated with oral antifungal medications, treatment can take several weeks, making fast detection of the uncommon infection critical. 

“TMvii can resemble other skin conditions or sexually transmitted infections, so proper evaluation is important,” says Tom Carpino, Ph.D., the Hock postdoctoral research fellow at DGHI, who has studied the public health challenges of emerging STIs such as mpox. “The lack of awareness among the highest risk individuals and communities, combined with the lack of wide-scale testing and reporting from clinics, are ingredients for a very serious epidemic to go under the radar.”

This effectively creates a centralized API of user identities accessible to thousands of third-party developers, many of whom may lack adequate data protection.

This is a hell that us down under in Australia are already living in, and it’s not even effective at what it claims to do in protecting children.

Given that, in the wake of this mandatory identification policy, my country seems to be moving to hand over its citizens biometric data, like fingerprints, Face ID files, and identification documents, over to the USA and to ICE to maintain the visa free travel (ESTA) we have, I strongly urge any US resident to send these emails, or make calls.

But if you can’t do that, the most powerful thing you can do is spread the word. Tell your friends, family, coworkers, anyone who can help.

My reach will likely be small, and so I don’t know if this will mean very much in the grand scheme of things, but I cannot stand to see this tracking happen to another population as it did to mine.

And if you think it won’t affect you, it will. All anonymity goes out the window when your accounts can be linked via your personal ID

Even after the so-called ceasefire, their lives are still hanging by a thread. At any moment I am not speaking to Zeina, it is possible that she has no food, no shelter, no safety this is what “after the war” looks like in Gaza. And it’s no longer just about survival. Her sister is quietly weakening from anemia and malnutrition, without proper food or treatment — a slow decline that may go unnoticed until it’s too late.

Think about living with ruins instead of homes, fear instead of stability, and the echo of everything they lost. There’s no “getting used to” that as your constant reality.

So when I ask you to reblog this post, think about the lack of effort it would take to flick your thumb and realize it could still be saving the lives of 6 people, affected by destruction and trauma far beyond what you could possibly imagine on your own.
