Is twitter error today???
GOD. this scene. I just need to talk about this scene.
Chi Cheng takes a drunk Suo Wei to his home, not suo wei's room at the clinic, but his own personal sanctuary. He clearly wanted to spend the night with SW, not to sleep with him, but just to take care of him. He's so gentle with SW, taking off his shoes, kneeling down and talking so softly, asking if he's okay, if he's drunk.
and suo wei, even though he's quite drunk, isn't completely unaware of what's happening. he sees what chi cheng is doing for him, sees the care in his eyes and the gentleness of his actions, and he asks an honest, vulnerable question, "why are you so nice to me?" because for all his rough moods and brash manners and biting words, chi cheng has been nothing but nice to him till now, in so many ways.
and this time, when all his walls are lowered, and his guards aren't up anymore, suo wei's subconscious, his heart, that has already caught upto what his logical side isn't prepared to acknowledge yet- gives in. he grabs chi cheng by the front of his shirt and he initiates the kiss-
well, almost a kiss.... because of course, yue yue, with her perfectly infuriating timing, interrupts with a call.
when the call ends, chi cheng comes back to inform him that yue yue, his girlfriend, is coming over, and doesn't elaborate more. but suo wei gets the silent message- he needs to disappear before that happens. and the look that suo wei gives chi cheng is devastating.
that subtle mix of longing and betrayal, laced with anger and frustration and hurt- because while suo wei is mad at chi cheng, at this whole messy circumstance, he is mad at himself too- because just for once, he'd let himself be vulnerable, let himself indulge in this little moment, for just once, he thought he had chi cheng just to himself. and that's why the rude awakening hurts for him even more. (props to zi yu for nailing the heck out of this scene, this single look hit me like a punch to the gut)
he gets up to leave and chi cheng's face here. god. he knows he has hurt suo wei badly, even though suo wei never protests, never says a single word to stake his claim.
so he grabs suo wei for one last hug, before they have to part ways, and he says "I'll surely pay back, what I owe you."
and that's such an interesting choice of words, because he isn't talking about any monetary exchanges at all (because up until now, it was he who paid suo wei those absurd sums of money as part of their little games, gifted a shit ton of stuff to SW just to make him smile), but no. he's talking about the emotional debt that he owes- the debt of gratitude and respect and time that he owes suo wei- for all the times when his hands were tied by his family's expectations and he has had to blow off and sideline suo wei in favor of being at his girlfriend's side, at her beck and call.
and suo wei understands him, even if he's still hurting from it- from being cast aside yet again, being reminded that his and chi cheng's relationship- whatever convoluted, messy thing had grown between them over weeks- their feelings and emotions, was something to be hidden, something that will never be approved by chi cheng's family.
and then he leaves- still inebriated, stumbling in his steps, hurting and all alone, late in the night. and what's worse, chi cheng watches him leave, and for once, he's powerless to stop it.
this last shot of chi cheng is equally devastating, because he's framed behind the blinds of the window like the bars of a cage- and the metaphor is clear, that no matter how much chi cheng schemes and plans, he's still bound by his family's power, who are manipulating him at every step of the way, to get him to behave exactly how they want.
chi cheng was powerless to choose the boy he loved that night, and it was incredible to see the fallout of something seemingly so little and ordinary on the surface gut us all like a knife wound 😭

REVENGED LOVE (2025). EPISODE SIX.
Chi Cheng is so beyond smitten. He is always looking at Suowei with a soft fondness reserved only for him.
And even though in the beginning he was just going to hit it and quit it, he wants more now.
It must be taking a herculean effort for him to keep it in his pants, but he doesn't just want a fuck buddy, he wants a relationship. 🥹
Watching this arrogant red flag turn into mush whenever Suowei is around is so satisfying. I'm rooting for this crazy mofo.
oh man see this is. so. so TASTY to me. how guo cheng yu is pulling ALL the strings here and has ALL 3, chi cheng, jiang xiao shuai and wu suo wei, under his thumb.
chi cheng:
he knows who and how to impress to get him riled up:
and knows exactly what to say to him directly to provoke and get a reaction out of him:
its amazing to me that chi cheng is still wanting cheng yu to be in his life, despite the pain and damage cheng yu has caused him by sleeping with his ex:
but, hey, chi cheng:
and guo cheng yu? is a master manipulator. and its why you can't let him goooooo:
and so he's currently using:
jiang xiao shuai:
and yes cheng yu Did have the hots for him bc at first, the chase was thrilling to him, but cheng yu has mastered the art of knowing what he wants to get and how to get it, now that suo wei is getting TOOOO close to His Best Friend chi cheng and whooo the hell is He to be getting so close to him!!!!! by manipulating xiao shuai in such a situation where he can only come to cheng yu for answers to feed his curiousity (quite Literally, to feed), and vice versa:
and xiao shuai has juuuust started to let his guard down, and suo wei? picks up on it right away:
which leads us onto another manipulator:
wu suo wei:
and so now that cheng yu knows the whole truth, and suo wei knows that cheng yu knows it too:
allllll the pieces have fallen so perfectly in place for cheng yu to hurt all 3 of them as and when he wishes.
and that's a lesson in perfecting and practicing patience in order to play the long game. these snake battles with chi cheng? mean NOTHING. gifiting his boys he sleeps with to him? mean NOTHING. its all just fun and games to him to be AS CLOSE to chi cheng as possible, and be living right there under his skin at all times. its all about the long game.
and maybe this is cheng yu's shamelessly sick and twisted way in telling chi cheng he just wants his best friend back too. but anyway. he is the toxic in my yaoi. and for all that he is?
i LOVE guo cheng yu.

Breaking Down the I Feel You Linger in the Air Finale
Okay pals, I got some sleep and I'm ready to dig into this finale and all its beautiful messiness. I love this show and I'm frankly a little frustrated that we got such an incomplete resolution to the (hopefully) first season when there was ample time to do it right. As ever, pacing and time and information management continue to be major weaknesses for Tee Bundit. As I said last week, the writing for this show has been undeniably messy but it's still holding together on the strength of the production and the performances and the success of some of its big themes and character arcs; that take held firm through the finale and some of the baffling choices made about where to spend our time in this final installment. So, let's dig into it!
The Long Goodbye
I'll say upfront that this is my biggest beef with the pacing of the finale. We spent all of last week on a long and painful goodbye for Yai and Jom, perfectly executed, but for some reason we did another 45 minutes of it this week, not so perfectly executed. While I loved the covering of the mirrors, the saddest sex scene ever (complete with sex moans running as the audio over a memory montage how dare you show!), and the pain of Yai realizing he drew the final picture and watching Jom disappear, we didn't need to retread them saying goodbye to each other over and over again for two entire hours of story time, and we didn't need a long, sappy, on the nose speech from Jom saying things we already knew. As I told @neuroticbookworm, this might be my aro showing but I found the series of repetitive emotional goodbye conversations and memory montages exhausting and not in a good way. If I were the script doctor, I would have kept the mirrors, sad sex, and Yai drawing as the start of the episode and cut the rest, moving much more quickly into the next phase of the story.
Back to the Future
Jom returning to his present day life, trying to cope with his anguish and loneliness and adjust back into things, and further investigating the time travel mystery to figure out a way to reconnect with Yai should have been the main narrative of this episode. Instead, we got a truncated version of it that didn't have time to breath because we'd used up so much time on the above mentioned retread. For my money, Jom's devastation upon finding Yai's letter to him was the most emotionally resonant moment of the finale and the first part of the episode where I almost cried. But we had barely sunk into that feeling before it was abruptly cut short because we were out of time and Tee needed to wrap this baby up.
Eyebrow Scar Yai
Here’s where I get actually kind of peeved, because this final (pre-credits) scene was so poorly set up and executed that to even call it a resolution is a stretch. A modern version of Yai walks into the room, asks Jom why he's crying, tells him he's been waiting for him, kisses him, and then the credits roll!
Now I've been in the tags so I know this caused confusion for anyone who has not read the novel (me too, fam!). And that's because the show had not bothered to establish:
That Yai does in fact have a modern doppelgänger
Who the heck that doppelgänger is and how he’s connected to 1928 Yai
How that doppelgänger would be able to remember Jom when no other doppelgängers in the story can remember their past lives
Based on what we know, could we piece together a reasonable theory about who this man is, how he got there, and the final pieces of the mythology that make sense of it? Sure. In fact, bookworm and I pretty much guessed exactly what the explanation for this was after watching the show, and many of the elements at play here were theorized in conversations we had last week. Book readers like @tipsyjaehyun have now confirmed the full explanation for anyone who cares to go read it.
But the show did not tell us any of this information. If you have to read the novel or have novel readers spoil you on aspects of the story that the show didn't bother to cover in order to understand the ending of the story, the execution has failed. And given the pacing notes above, there is really no reason we couldn't have gotten a better set up for this ending with Eyebrow Scar Yai (yes I know his name but no I'm not using it because the show didn't bother telling me; I am petty like that). Jom could have found this descendant during his time of processing and the ending could have hinged on us realizing this modern Yai is a reincarnation who has his past life memories intact; had we gone into a final kiss between them feeling grounded in all of that knowledge, it would have landed so much better.
Hello Commander
And now on to the post-credits scene, where Tee puts a plea into the universe to give him a second season so he can play around in another time period and explore what is evidently the origin of this soul tie between Jom and Yai. I chose to read this episode tag as separate from the actual season 1 narrative, and I think that was the intention given its placement. If they secure funding for a second season, this tag scene becomes the beginning of that next story, with Eyebrow Scar Yai's kiss sending Jom into another time travel adventure. If they don't we can just ignore it and pretend the pre-credits scene was the end (which is why I'm not happy it was so poorly done). I, for one, would love to see a second season to explore another time period and give Tee a chance to clean up some of this mess he has made of the mythology and season 1 resolution. Shouts to @clairedaring for reporting back from the live showing of the finale on what the possibilities are looking like there. Fingers crossed we get a continuation of this story some day!
Tagging in @waitmyturtles and @twig-tea who also have linked posts above. And shouts to @blmpff @cankersoregirl @pharawee @wanderlust-in-my-soul @italianpersonwithashippersheart @bengiyo @dragonsareawesome123 @wen-kexing-apologist @junghaesin @stuffnonsenseandotherthings @slayerkitty @respectthepetty @chickenstrangers @sunshinechay @btwinlines for posting about this show every week and making it such a fun watch despite having a small audience on here. It was a pleasure watching this with you all!

Take over me Over every rushing memory
I FEEL YOU LINGER IN THE AIR dir. Tee Sintanaparadee (2023)
No but the big brain move from the girls and Jom to use Roberts crime to make the father blow the engagement and marriage of both his children.
Instead of going "But consider the fact that we really love each other", which daddy doesn't care about. Nah, they brought out the other families whole dirt you would not want your own family to be associated with. Also the extra bonus point for having it delivered by a transwoman. 👌
Still wish Robert would have been killed. But I know that Thai prison is basically slowly rotting in an overcrowded cell.
I Feel You Linger in the Air is Fucking Beautiful
There may have been some story wobbles, a bit of rushing towards the finish line in today's episode. But, GODDAMN is Tee so fucking smart for the lenses he puts on his characters through the cinematography.
We've been seeing this recurring visual motif of either Jom or Yai being blurred behind the bed screen. Constantly foreshadowing their inevitable separation. And today, knowing now that the episode ends with Jom's reflection fading away, I just...
want to...
SCREAM
Yai is in love with a ghost, he's fallen in love with a ghost. Jom has been haunted this entire time by the ghost of his future self, while Yai was busy falling in love with a spirit he cannot hold forever. It's just such beautiful fucking visual storytelling. It hits every single time. We are ten episodes in, Tee has used this type of visual in practically every episode, and I have not even once gotten tired of it.
I won't take it anymore, Jom. I won't let our home be like this again.
I FEEL YOU LINGER IN THE AIR (2023) Dir. Tee Bundit Sintanaparadee
Buzzing over the IFYLITA dinner scene
That dinner reveal scene was everything I wanted. It was Hamlet, it was Poirot, it was so perfectly pointed.
Not only did Jom make the point that these marriages should be called off in order to save the family reputation, but he also specifically highlighted how disgusting the behaviour of these men had been, and asked the question: how could you [Yai's father], be disgusted by our love but not by these actions? Who here is more vile, this talented performer or these people willing to kill for a little more power? Who is more embarrassing, this person flaunting gender binaries or you, bending over backwards and sacrificing your children's happiness for the good will of murderers?
God it was so satisfying, to have the queer-as-monster trope subverted in that way. Jom said: I'm not going to try to make you sympathize with our love so that you no longer see us as monsters, I'm going to make you look in a mirror and tell me who is more monstrous.
I still have chills. The way Nuey's laugh echoed as she moved through the scene, and the slow reveal that she was telling a true story, and her ability to ignore the tension in the room! What a fantastic performance by Om.
And the way this doesn't just rely on morals, but on the values that Yai's father ascribes to. He wants to be respected, to gain power for his family, and Jom reveals that actually, it is your decisions that will tear down your own family's reputation.
I also just really love that Eang Peung and Fong Kaew are friends, and worked together to make this happen. Jom got to do the reveal, but it was almost all their hard work to make it possible.
If Eang Peung dies from this pregnancy I will actually riot.
