“Somewhere between a whisper and a wonder, I found you.”
A bunch of dumps of old and new, beware of the cringe, the mystery, or the chaos that will ensue :3
I'm currently struggling with writer's block for chap 3 of Unexpected and some other one shots, so I decided to go back to an old drabble, rewrote it, and added a few more scenes just so I could feel productive
(no srsly the guilt of not writing is frying meeee)
Anyways here's how it's going lol, I won't post it in ao3 since it's just a mini drabble of hahas and hehes of SH; I'll just post it here soon when I'm done editing
Imagine coming home from a tiring day (school, almost got hit by a motorcycle because the driver def just wants to gain attention, the line to everythinngg is just so long) and then getting notified that your grades are out, only to see that you almost got a line of 7 grade on a minor subject that you barely got any mistakes from quizzes and exams
Then Isogai and Tenma wonders why Okajima would cry when he sees them lmao
(Made this while in class btw... yall can probably tell this is how i cope💔 btw what i had in mind for kariya's part is that tenma is sitting on the floor while kariya is on his seat :D
A little fun fact about some OCs of mine, specifically from an old concept of the "previous students of Class E helps the current Class E" (yes the AC prequel lol)
One of the students, from the 6th batch I think (I say as if I didn't create them lol) purposely failed in their exams and some school work because they hate the teachers and just wanted to chill in the mountain lol
Another was sent to Class E because they pulled a Karma, except he sent the teacher to the hospital for breaking his nuts
"..Are—" They stopped. Whoever they were. He wasn't sure. He didn't look. He could hear them just fine, yet he couldn't exactly recognize their voice. Perhaps he did, but because of the long time spent away from them, from home, it felt like listening to a stranger despite the lingering familiarity.
Kael didn't look up, not finding it in himself to wonder why they stopped talking, like they were retracting the very question they were about to ask—it was almost as if they knew that asking that would be pointless.
At least, it was, to Kael.
"Should I call the doctor for you?"
For what? He wanted to ask. There's nothing to check.
He had seen the records anyway. He had already heard the diagnosis before it was relayed to him.
"...traces of poison in his body. His white blood cells are actively fighting against it, at a quick rate too, almost like it had gotten used to it. Still, we gave him an antidote to boost his immune system... [...] Ah, yes, there's a chance he might not—"
"̸̣̕K̷͚͐a̷̙̎e̶̺̊l̷͍͗?̷̨͊"̶̬͘
Their voices overlapped, and his eyes flew open, meeting darkness. His heart leapt in his throat, and suddenly he realized that it was hard to breathe as the air around him grew humid.
"...Kael? Hey, wake up already."
"Is he dead?"
"Don't be like that, Aoyama..."
"What? That guy sleeps like the dead!"
How loud. Honestly, Kael would've snickered if he hadn't noticed the state he was in. His head was buried deep into his arms, which explained why it was a little hard to breathe and unbearably hot; the temperature caused sweat to accumulate all over his face.
Hopefully not that much—but his cheeks definitely feel damp, and sweat dribbled down his forehead. Ugh, gross. He wasn't the type to drool in his sleep, but, god, how much he hoped that he wasn't actually drooling because the entirety of his face was drenched in sweat.
And honestly, he didn't want to show his face like this. It was embarrassing enough to wake up drenched in sweat—in a classroom, no less. What would happen when he actually lifted his head?
So, with nothing else to do, he turned his right palm, facing it upwards. Even moving it took a little more effort, feeling the tingling kicking in amidst the numbness. "Towel." He said, voice muffled.
"Huh?"
"Could you grab my towel? It's in my bag."
Kael heard shuffling. Then, "Okay," as Ichino zipped his bag open.
"Wow, man, not even a 'thank you' for waking you up?" Aoyama said dryly, just as he felt that soft fabric land on his palm.
"Thank you~" Kael drawled lazily, deliberately saying it loud enough for someone to hear, who scoffed, unamused. He then lifted his head just a little to create space as he slid the towel in, before quickly plopping his face on top of it, the sense of relief almost overwhelming.
"Hey, just how long are you going to lie there?" Huh, surprisingly, it was Ichino who asked that this time. Kael actually expected Aoyama to do that, but a part of him wasn't entirely surprised. Those two are like two peas in a pod anyway; they rub their attitudes off on each other.
Kael hummed, "'Til my arms stop going numb."
"With your head still pressed against it, I'm pretty sure you're not making it any better..."
"Even better."
"Kael."
And because he liked being annoying like that, he didn’t move. It was hilariously funny that it only took about three seconds before he heard Aoyama huff in annoyance.
He chuckled, turning his head to the side to wipe away the remaining dampness with his towel before pushing himself up. Bringing the towel with him, he used it to wipe away the lingering sweat.
That was when he noticed Ichino stiffen, eyes widened as though he had seen something he shouldn't have. "Were you crying?" He asked, voice almost quiet like they were sharing a secret.
Kael blinked. "Hm?"
"...Your eyes are red."
Oh.
Kael shrugged off-handedly. "Nah, I wasn't. It's normal for your eyes to get red when you wake up from sleeping, you know?"
Then Aoyama came into view, his own eyes narrowing at him to inspect. "Yeah, no, it's really red..." He told Kael, slow and hesitant, as if he was not sure what he was seeing. "You kinda look high. Wait, you aren't taking any substances are you?"
Does poison count? Not anymore, no.
"No," Kael said incredulously. "Dude, what the hell? I think I'm too broke for that." He snickered, bringing the towel up to his eyes and—ah, yup, they do kind of feel sore.
"That's not funny," Ichino sighed exasperatedly. "I do have some eyedrops, though. I can give them to you."
I like to think that Tenma has got to be fluent in English, or at least more proficient than most of his peers. Now, part of it came from this headcanon of mine when I started writing Soar High, but another came from the fact that Aki used to live in America. Then it kind of spiraled from there...
I like to share this because I remember a friend of mine who pointed out that our voices tend to change when we speak in a different language or tone. Ofc, it's more nuanced than that, or something, but it's still funny to imagine Tenma casually switching to English mid-conversation, only for his voice to come out a little lower than usual that the first time it happened, it kind of catches his friends off-guard a little.
Now imagine one of them gets a random phone call, doesn't recognize the number, and when they answer, they get, "Is this [friend's name]?" in full, somewhat deep voice in English.
That made them freeze and kind of scare the crap out of them because they do not recognize the voice. It could be because hearing someone's voice on a call is much different from in real life, but, well, either way, they didn't, and they were like, "..Who is this??" while thinking about who they had offended.
"Oh! It really is you! Good morning! Sorry, it's me, Tenma! Please save my current number, my last one got corrupted for some reason."
"...Tenma, it's 1 in the afternoon."
"Oh- really? I just woke up from my nap and I thought it's still morning! Haha, sorry! Anyway, I'll get out of your hair now, bye bye~!"
*phone call ends*
They just stare at their phone dumfoundedly.
(Until they realize that Tenma probably did that stunt on purpose because why would he need to ask that first question if he already had their number lmao)
I be doing anything but actually writing the fic. No srsly, the pilot chapter hasn't even reached 1k words because I keep rewriting everything why am I so picky grrr
Anyway, did yall know that Soar High is another excuse for me to write MasaTen friendship? I like them both sm
And some MasaTen ship tease moments cuz why not mwehehehe....
(It's been one year lol, this was previously in my gdocs, then moved it to Notion, then I moved it to Ellipsus. I started writing this because of my anxiety for our upcoming defense--and also because I was a bit inspired by what happened to a friend... it's funny i swear)
It's literally 2am and I am over here (in my head being delusional as ever) being reminded of the fact that when Class E went missing (referring to the events of 'Kiss of'), Minaho (the mvp, my goat) planned and initiated Gakushuu's kidnapping--of all things. Literally the first thing he thought of too, and I can't help but laugh because the rest of the team were looking at him like he was crazy and he was like, "Trust me, im always right. let's get asano-kun for some assistance."
And lo and behold, when they finally got Gakushuu to talk, they all realized that Minaho was right, and half of them lost a quarter or half of their allowance bc they made a bet if Minaho was sane or not
