Actually in my AU, they all live together in the same mansion, since I pulled Rantanplan out of the Lucky Luke comics so he could become a companion for Zorglub, Zandra, and Pacôme (though Zandra is mostly the one who takes care of him). He is the mansion’s second pet after Spip.

The rat on Pacôme's shoulder is named Blan-Blan. He (it's a male) lives in Champignac’s laboratory. Zorglub is constantly trying to take him out of the cage, but Pacôme is strongly against it because he’s afraid for his tiny pet.

In the original comic Pacôme also have the rat that is named Monsieur Albert, but I don’t want my AU to be too tightly connected to the comics. Especially since "Blan-Blan" was chosen half a year ago by @monsieurlaziness in our RP.

It's been a while I wanted to draw them together.

I watched the first episode of the new Marsupilami animated series, and people on Discord server said that with each new adaptation, Marsupilami’s design gets less cute. So I decided to take a character I liked from it and draw it in a style closer to the original comics.

To do this, I took the color palette from the concept art, where the fur is more bluish compared to the animated series, where it’s purple.

I had this idea that Zorglub kisses Champignac's hand because he’s a Count, and that’s a high status no matter what - Zorglub himself can’t really boast anything like that. But he likes it. It’s part of their “game”.

Lately, I’ve often had this headcanon that Zorglub is willing to play along with Pacôme and give in to him in many ways, so that Pacôme can be the dominant one in their relationship. Zorglub is too clumsy, gullible, and flighty to take on that role himself. He understands this, so he doesn’t resist Pacôme’s dominance. However, if something goes wrong, Zorglub will still take control and can step in to protect Champignac.

Pacôme is the rational mind in their pairing, while Zorglub is just everything else lol
