“ …do you always hang out between alleyways like this? isn’t it kind of reckless? „ he teased, leaning lazily against the cold brick wall staring aimlessly at his surroundings. perhaps alleyways provide some type of comfort? either way, vanitas has never heard of that before. it was reckless, sure but relatable. as for himself, he wasn’t worried about the mysterious wanderers that lurk beneath the shadows at all knowing that he himself was a shadow. fortunately for her, she did not have to worry (at least not now), vanitas was only wanting hold a conversation if this night was going to feel endless to him. “ but i guess i won’t judge you for your preferred place of hangout. or well, i shouldn’t be anyway. „
@caligosum ♡ ‘d for a starter!
“You probably shouldn’t.” This isn’t the first time a stranger has pointed out her habits and had something to say about them; Chrome is used to a range of soft, concerned looks and people going so far as to try and lead her to somewhere safer. Kind of them, in some capacity, but ultimately useless since she just goes back whenever she feels like it. This one’s more bearable at least being, probably, around the same age as her. “I know the really dangerous ones to avoid anyway, so nothing bad has happened.” She knows how to make quick and careful escapes, besides – minor illusions might not be good for fighting, but they have their uses. “It’s quieter. I don’t care for the city crowds.”
@hermidetta ✧ (sc)
For all the months that Chrome has been in the city, there are still some things she finds difficult getting used to. Namely how busy how everything is; the winding and sidewalks and walkways busy and congested that makes walking them uncomfortable. Chrome’s lucky she’s small and luckier still that she’s taken to memories backway shortcuts and just how to properly maneuver around the change of foot traffic throughout the day. It’s needed, given how often she likes to wander and look and let her feet settle on her destination.
It’s no different today, sans a possible trip to the grocery store that may take her to busier parts of Archimedes, but it is the ward she knows best for all its winding alleyways and idyllic views. The rush hour for lunch means she’s taking a quieter detour now, leftovers from her own earlier eaten meal packed neatly away in her bag for later.
Chrome isn’t surprised to see other people taking the same ways as her, having no control over well-known routes. She is surprised to see a figure curled up and out of the way, however. Maybe it would be something for Chrome to ignore, her wariness towards strangers an easy driving force, but there’s something achingly familiar about the lonely curve of the shoulders and a face pressed against knees.
“Excuse me.” Chrome settles on saying, makes sure her steps are loud enough to be heard as she walks forward. “Uhm…do you need any help? This isn’t...this isn’t the best place to be alone for too long, probably.”
@mahclani ✧ (sc)
“Thank you.” Chrome exhales and bobs herself in a brief bow. Possibly inconveniencing a stranger isn’t how she wanted to spend the morning, but things do not often go as planned. The wind had whipped around just enough to whisk away a handwritten list and deposit it in one of the higher branches of the cherry blossom trees. Chrome has no experience with climbing, at least not that high; she’s truly glad someone didn’t mind retrieving it for her. It isn’t even a particularly important list – just names of treats and sweets she wants to try and maybe bring back to share.
“I can repay you if you like.” She continues, shifting lightly from foot to foot. A good deed rarely goes without some expectation of reward, though Chrome doesn’t have a clue what this woman could even want from her. She’d feel bad if things were just left as is.
@juumonshield ✧ (sc)
“Depending on where you go it could be dangerous.” Chrome supplies, information picked up from spending months in the city being passed on in the form of advice of a sort to answer questions. “There are more dangerous creatures out in the Branches, Mistwood specifically.” She hasn’t been there herself, but she does know people that have – she isn’t quite sure about the other ones and decides that needs to be fixed soon. “There are stories about what’s in Lake Koi, but I never heard of anyone getting hurt there.” She shrugs; it all seems subjective anyway. the creatures are probably docile until their space gets invaded, but maybe some people just don’t know that. Better to give an advanced warning than let them figure it out the hard way.
@rubisflame
“Sorry about him.” Chrome says softly and scoops her cat up and away from the other. Gremlin likes to wander, previous stray that he was, but he also tends to stick close to her whenever she’s home. The appearance of new roommates has caused them both to be curious about the inevitable change that would happen; the cat’s braver that Chrome, however, nosier too, but she expected that to happen. It was only a matter of time before she had to wrangle him in eventually. She just hopes no damage was caused and that no one’s upset either.
“If you don’t like cats,” Chrome continues and figures it would be better than apologizing and disappearing back into the room. The cat’s her responsibility; it’d be rude to assume that everyone else would be okay with one walking around. “I’ll try to keep him away from your things. I don’t stay inside every day though, so if you have to, you can just drop him off in my room. It’s the fourth bedroom.”
All this information, and yet. “Sorry, I haven’t introduced myself. I’m Chrome. It’s nice to meet you.” Feline still in her arms, she gives a polite bow. “If you have any questions, I’ll do my best to answer them.”
holds her hand with big big googly babey puppy eyes
“Was someone being mean to you?” Is Chrome’s first thought because it seems as though Lambo wants comfort. She provides it as best as she can with a gentle squeeze of their joined hands and pulling out half a chocolate bar from her pocket. She’ll buy another one later.
dvvouring:
“nonsense, i already punish those who don’t, now i’m just being clear about my intentions.”
“I don’t mind if people don’t like me.”
dvvouring:
“everybody shut up and love chrome dokuro.”
“You can’t just tell people to do that.”
@tiyriae
“Oh.” Chrome says first, just a little surprised. She knew roommates were a thing that happened recently, she just wasn’t expecting to run into one so soon even within shared space. It’s a bit of an art form, how good she is at avoiding people, inadvertently or not. “Good morning. My name’s Chrome.” Comes next followed by a polite nod of her head. It’s closer to noon than morning, but Chrome figures the sentiment is still there. Besides, she just woke up not too long ago.
She still steadily getting used to strangers – easier now that she’s in a city full of them, but still somewhat difficult due to the sudden appearance of one right in the living room. Worse things have happened, so she figures she can manage just fine with a little time. Might as well treat this all like another normal, albeit odd occurrence.
“I don’t want to make any assumptions about the things you know, but it’s weird here.” She speaks without making eye contact, busying herself with the fact that the cat’s food and water bowl need refilling. Gremlin is somewhere, hopefully he hasn’t bothered the new roommates yet. “If you have any questions, I’ve been here a few months; I don’t know everything, but I’ve picked some things up.”
i have realized it’s been ages since my last starter call and have decided i need a couple of new threads on here. we’re gonna cap this rp ad at three likes, but if you want to thread anyway my ims are always open.

“…Lemme guess. You got tired of melon treats, haven’t you?”
Just as fitting with the occasion, Battler was eating a loaf of melon bread while carrying a can of melon soda. He takes the candies to satisfy Chrome and puts them on a pocket of his. Even if he feels too bothered by melon to want to eat them, his wife certainly will eat delicious candies.
On the distance, a vendor was selling melon popsicles, which attracted many children. “I understand if you are too tired of melon for a lifetime. But if you manage to restore your taste buds to normal before the festival ends, Id recommend a popsicle by that guy. They are the best melon based treat I’ve tasted so far!”
Chrome guesses her weary state if obvious despite it being for a simple thing as getting tired of a single flavor. She isn’t upset at being figured out so easily especially since she’s the one offering the candy in the first place – it’s the most logical conclusion to come to, after all. She’s just glad to have one less thing to worry about having to eat no matter how good the candies might have been on a normal occasion; this isn’t exactly a normal occasion to begin with anyway.
The idea of a popsicle catches her interest; not having been to this side of the festival yet, there’s a lot she hasn’t noticed. However, if it’s melon flavored then she worries she won’t be able to enjoy considering her current state. “Do they not actually taste like melon? Or do they taste different enough that it’s okay?” might as well ask, just to be sure.

❝ Tsuna ? ❞ Brow quirked , Dino looked across the room at the young Vongola Mist . He hadn’t talked much with this one , but better late than never , he supposed .
❝ ‘Fraid not , but I agree , I wouldn’t want him here either . ❞ Dino motioned to one of the many seats in the room , inviting her to make herself comfortable . He meant no offense to Tsuna , who he held dear , but the less of their allies were here , the better .
❝ Don’t worry though . ❞ He offered a smile . ❝ I have people all over keeping an eye out for our allies , so if he does show up– He won’t be alone for long , we’ll find him right away . ❞
She takes the invitation to sit – ankles crossed and hands lightly gripping the fabric of her skirt. Chrome would like to have her trident back, but it isn’t as though she needs it here. Well, specifically with this person as company; he seems nice and he wants to keep Boss safe even though Boss isn’t here yet and will hopefully never be here. Then again, Chrome thought she’d never be snatched up by another person, and here she is – a number of them are actually from what she’s gathered.
“That’s nice of you.” She exhales, posture relaxing slightly. “How do you have connections here?” She finds herself asking, curious then remembers that this one is another boss and probably has certain ways about handling this sort of thing. “You don’t have to tell me if you want to keep it a secret.”
sanpatron:
“ Huh. ” Putting a hand to his chin the Boss feigns being in deep thought over the girl’s answer. Seems like a smart kid. Knows what she wants and how to deal with those sorts of predicaments. Definitely something he can respect. A few seconds of fake thinking later and he resumes speaking. “ Yeah, that makes sense. Was in the same situation forever ago when I first got here. I’ll tell you this though, if you’re expecting me t’ have all the answers to whatever burning questions you may have that ain’t gonna be the case. I’m still trying to figure this place out myself, so I only know as much as I’ve learned. ”
A quick habitual neck cracking and he continues. “ So go on ahead and ask away. I’ll try and do the best I can t’ satisfy that curiosity of yours. Though depending on what you ask ya might not exactly like the answer I give ya. Just a heads up. ”
Logically, Chrome knows not everyone has the answers to everything, no matter the situation. She doesn’t mind being told this, but neither does she voice her thoughts out loud. She doesn’t want to accidentally come off rude and ungrateful due to how direct she tends to be when speaking. In actuality, the help – no matter how minor it might actually end up being – is a great relief to her. Chrome has a rough track record with adults, and strangers in general, so she wouldn’t have been all too surprised if she was left on her way without any aid to fend for herself. For her, getting some questions answered is favorable.
“Thank you.” she says first because thanking people is important. And she then pauses for a few seconds to consider all that she wants to know and what would be best to ask. What she decides to settle on will hopefully be relatively easy to answer. “What are the places to avoid? The very dangerous ones.”

one of these days, he will find the one responsible for limiting his abilities and leave a parting gift in the form of a lance in their gut. depriving people of their capabilities is an effective yet nonetheless vexing method of keeping desperate souls from leaving, and fighting such macabre monstrosities with little in the way of self-defense would be nigh impossible; not when the residents wish to keep their ephemeral lives flickering still.
estinien was forced to face the consequence of such loss earlier, malms away from the city and deep into the misty woods. information from the natives spoke of the denizens; curious beasts that prowl the forest and populate the landmarks travelers dare not visit. estinien, of course, was of the mind to scout these lands for want of experience against these foes. and he did, though without paying the price for it.
blood trickles down his naked arm and a sharp inhale was met with a pain so stark he had to lean against the wall before he keels over and black out. a few broken ribs, he thinks, pressing gentle fingers across his torso; and an almost useless arm, one that would take weeks to heal without the aid of a chirurgeon. he is still drawing breath, at least; a near miss but a silver lining all the same.
with another strangled inhale, he pushes himself upright; a feat he is almost proud of had he not stumbled and bumped against a civilian.
“ apologies. ” he forces the word out past the pain flaring in his chest. godsdamned denizens and their agility. when he gets his skills back, he will kill them for all it is worth. “ i’m afraid i’m in no condition to walk far. would you know of a healer nearby? ”
@caligosum
Chrome’s first thought is that he’s tall, a feat easily accomplished given her own short stature. The second is that he’s hurt – quite badly, too – that she could tell even if he wasn’t asking for a healer. Her first thought is to help with illusion, but her power is only minor, and she isn’t in possession of a ring to help them. She can’t do anything useful for even temporarily stitching back sinew and skin and bone; it probably just makes things worse than better and nothing she wants to test on a stranger that desperately needs proper help.
While Chrome doesn’t know the location of every clinic and hospital in each ward, she knows that more than a few exist; it was one of the first things she paid attention to and then properly looked up once she was able. A precaution that’s taken more so for herself than anything because who knows when she’d need to go to one– at least her vague knowledge seems to be coming in handy.
“There should be one. It’ll take me just a few seconds to look up, just to be sure.” She explains. Chrome reaches in her bag and pulls out her phone, which she keeps, and a spare jacket she likes to keep around, which she promptly hands over. “Your arm is still bleeding. Please use that.” She’ll either work on getting the stains out and if she can’t, it’s not her only jacket and not even her favorite besides.
Saved in her phone as it is, Chrome’s search only takes a few short seconds, just as she promised. “There’s a clinic just a couple blocks away. They’ll be able to help and get you to an actual hospital if you need it.”

He finds himself overwhelmed most of the time, more often than he’d like to ever admit to anyone. With how different everything is from the skydoms ( —the technology, the food, the people, the buildings… ) it’s all a little too much to take in despite it being months since he’d first arrived. As if everything is closing in on him all at once, constantly. His room is where he finds himself in these moments of overstimulation.
There’s a few questions that weigh on his mind, ones that he’s thought about every now and then since getting stuck in this place.

How do you buy a building? How much would one cost? How do you find ones that are available? Thank you.
He doesn’t realize that this Chrome is from his contacts list and not the actual search engine.

Forgetful as she is, Chrome doesn’t use her phone much and tends not to realize she has it until it’s the end of the day and she has to clean out her bag. On some days she’s okay with it and keeps an ear out for the text alert just in case someone is trying to reach or check up on her. Getting three messages in quick succession isn’t a surprise, but the unfamiliar name and the content of them is. but then again, Chrome has seen the name of search and figures confusion would have happened eventually. At least they seem one seems to be nice about it.
to: Sandalphon from: Chrome
I think you meant to use the search engine. I’m a person. These phones can be tricky so I can try searching the answers for you?
It’s not as though she’s busy and has gotten a good handle on her phone when she does decide to use it.
asclepiads:
She misses. She misses so many things, and a soft, hollow spot sits in her chest from it all. In the end, she blames herself from having lost everything– her father wouldn’t be gone, her brother wouldn’t be imprisoned, if her horrible body hadn’t ever existed. A terrifying and dismal thought, most certainly, but one she’s unfortunately allowed herself to entertain for the last little while.
( That’s why he didn’t apologize to me… that’s why he only asked Erhard for forgiveness… That’s why… )
The other’s way of speaking is making her heart ache. She wants to badly to explain, but there’s so much that she can’t ever explain, and she hates it. She hates, hates, hates it, hates being stuck like this, hates being so dangerous. Hates being like this.
But at the same time, remembering her brother, meeting someone like him… it’s making her feel more relaxed. More calm, to know there are maybe people like him out there.
“ … No, it’s not a bad thing. ” She gives a tiny smile. “ Um, my name is Rosalia. What’s yours? ”
The answer given makes her relieved – all mental sighing and shagging of shoulders. She wouldn’t want to make anyone upset, even inadvertently; it’s happened enough in the past that she’s over it for the most part. Mainly because the instances where people got upset at her, they yelled, but that isn’t near to the case here, so she decides not to entertain those thoughts anyway. After all, she’s changed enough – she’s her own person, can stand on her own two feet, doesn’t have to lean to heavily on others like the her of the past did, but she isn’t proud enough to deny the help or being the one that helps.
“I’m glad then.” she says and mirrors a small smile of her own. “My name is Chrome. It’s nice to meet you.” Though initial interaction wasn’t exactly normal, Chrome doesn’t mind it. She’s met stranger people through stranger circumstances; this is practically tame in comparison. It’s a bit of a relief in its own way.
