Finally…finally I have a Varwolf! I have been saving this punny name ever since they were announced, and I’m glad nobody else took it before I got mine.
I did swap Petpets with my Halloween Lupe, I figured Abby Normal would fit better with Varwolf Varcastle.
I’ve really been enjoying the book Project Hail Mary (wanted to see the movie, but I got into the book a little too late to catch it in theaters), so I decided to make a hardcover book sleeve to keep my paperback copy safe.
My first attempt was too small despite my measurements (I forgot to factor in the glue seams, the paperback cover wouldn’t go in), so I didn’t trim the second cover. It’s definitely a bit big on the book, but I’m just pleased it can go in and out with relative ease. I made it green on the inside for Adrian, and used red ribbon on the borders for the Petrova line.
At first I only put the Hail Mary on it, but my creative mind engaged and started coming up with other things to add to it.
I also made a little Grace for the end of the built in bookmark out of Shrinky Dinks (this one was a failed attempt, the hole needed to be bigger for the ribbon to fit through).
And here’s the finished book sleeve in all its glory!
The nice thing about leaving the book cover untrimmed is that there’s enough space to protect little Grace when sitting on the bookshelf.
Back at it again with another edit I wanted to see, but no one else made. This time, it’s Gabriel’s turn. It’s set to Abel’s part of “Hear My Hope”.
Hope y’all like it!
My beaded phone charm broke, so we’re trying shrinky-dinks now. This was the design I went with.
And here’s the resulting charms. They were made with two different plastics (shrinky-dink plastic and recycled plastic from work).
Hopefully these last longer, and I made two this time so if one breaks, I have another ready to go.
I searched TikTok for edits of Cas with “Satanized” by Ghost, and there was absolutely nothing. I’m genuinely surprised no one else on the internet thought of this, so I made it myself.
It’s my first edit, I hope y’all like it. 😊
Been drawing a lot of true form Gabriel lately, mostly because of an rp I’ve been doing with one of my friends. Basically, the story in it has Cas and Gabe living as humans, but their grace is dormant and only starts to awaken after meeting the Winchesters. I came up with Gabe’s true form with the idea that he’d die and wake up in heaven in that form, but somewhere along the line, we decided to go a different route.
Instead, because someone made a deal, Gabe gets caught in the crossfire and is taken to hell (I think we were both having a rough day and craved angst).
He does eventually get rescued by Cas, and he’s a little angry at the Winchesters for not protecting him while he was human (hence the repurposed quote on the last drawing).
I finally put together a shadow box for all my bracelets and freebies from the Tulsa Ritual!
I hand painted the details on the outside, and made the two bracelets and rat pinned in the box. The Perpetua art card, sticker, and rosary are by @kahelekreations (which were traded at the ritual), I also bought a Perbatua sticker from DelightfulMacabre on Etsy and a custom ticket from GhulehsGrove on Etsy to spruce it up a bit.
I wanted the set list on it somewhere, so I wrote it on the inside with sharpie. Not the fanciest thing, but it’s what I could manage.
Update: after several failed attempts, I finally got Perplushua to sit on top of the shadow box.
i love that every pokémon is someone’s favourite pokémon. it doesn’t matter how much you dislike a pokémon or how forgettable you you think a design is, out there is someone who thinks it’s their baby. my coworker who only discovered pokémon through pokémon go absolutely loves tangela and has a small army of fully powered up ones. at an expo once i saw a woman at a booth desperately trying to find an onix plushie because it was her daughter’s absolute favourite. i talked with someone recently who announced sudowoodo as their tippy top favourite. every single one is loved by someone and idk, i think that’s gotdang heartwarming
What’s your favorite?
Gengar has been my favorite ever since I saw the “Tower of Terror” episode as a child. They’re just goofy ghosties who just want friends (this is the same reason why Mimikyu is a close second favorite for me).
Is it a basic favorite? Probably. But I love Gengar regardless.
I even carry a little Gengar (and Mimikyu) plush in my purse and take pictures with them when I go on trips (@tourist-gengar if anyone’s interested to see where they’ve been).
Still having a hard time finding cards to celebrate the day, but we found other ways to mark the occasion. I doodled this while I was at work today.
really love imagining a bunch a kids and teens on their pokemon journeys staying the night on the couches and floors in the lobbies of pokemon centers, having long talks about their experiences and feelings sharing funny and scary stories and myths about legendaries and trading items and sharing TMs along with sugary snacks and pokedex chargers all while their pokemon are out of their pokeballs and all bundled up in blankets sleeping soundly next to their trainers while they stare up at the stars shining through the glass ceiling over their heads
#this is what pokemon’s all about
#this is…so nice
I just…really like this idea man. So I drew a thing.
mythbusters was so good because it wasn't a killjoy show. they didn't just say "see, it doesn't work" and leave it there
whenever they find that the stunt doesn't work as portrayed in the movie, they immediately ask "what would it take to make this happen?"
“we know it takes this amount of explosives to work, but what if we doubled it anyway?”
Some myths I'll always remember:
* Are elephants scared of mice? (They only did that because they were in Africa and had access to elephants.)
* Will a bull run amok in a china shop?
* Is it better to run zig-zag or straight when chased by an alligator?
I love these because NONE of them turned out the way they expected. They went into all three with pre-conceived ideas of how it would go, and each time they "failed." Elephants WILL cower from mice. A bull moves very gingerly through a china shop. It doesn't matter how you run because ALLIGATORS WON'T CHASE YOU.
And each time, they reacted with just... pure glee. "Holy shit, we were wrong! Oh my god! This is great! We were so wrong!"
And that, to me, is what science is. Being excited about being wrong because either way it's information.
Found these ducks at a flea market, and that was the first thing that popped into my head.
I finally went to my first Ghost ritual in Tulsa yesterday and honestly, it was one of the best nights of my life!
I was so worried I’d come off as annoying if I just approached folks asking if they’d like any of the little trinkets and bracelets I made, but everyone I met was so kind and welcoming, and they seemed to love my rats, bats, and grucifixes.
I tweaked my Halloween costume a bit, and dare I say I think it looked so much better as a mix of myself and Perpetua than trying to look exactly like him:
I did get the Perpetua plushie, and a few more things, but I’ll wait til I’m home to show them off.
I got so many bracelets and other neat things from trades, including some mummy dust that a younger Ghost fan was kind enough to offer for one of my Perpetua bats.
The ritual itself was a blast! If/when Ghost tours again, I’m definitely gonna go. I felt so happy being there and singing along with everyone, the energy was so incredible and hearing those songs live was just magical.
Noticed my phone case had a loop for a phone charm, and after some googling (and tweaking the design I found to be a little more rounded), I made my own little Gengar charm out of beads.
No, no it isn’t.
this gif is perfectly timed because it gives you enough time to read it, comprehend it, and still have this too-long-for-comfort moment of suspense before being punched square in the solar plexus
