@callmekaza thing of Rafe actually being the child of Maekar x Dyanna got me thinking again..... I have more thoughts and an AU but it's just Tangled and Anastasia inspired.
A Rafe who was the second of Maekar and Dyanna's children, born in the near the tail end of the Blackfyre rebellion. A baby with dark hair and skin like her mother, and most would say the purple eyes of the Daynes but any glimpse at the babe would tell you that those are the glaring magenta's of Maekar and not the purple-indigos of Dyanna and Daeron. She also had her father's tempermant, glaring and hitting whenever she was annoyed, having no problem grabbing things just to toss them. As fierce a warrior as both her parents is something Dyanna liked to say, excited at the possibility of teaching her daughter how to throw spears like she learned in her youth, instead of launching blocks at her brother.
Rafe's first months of life was truly wonderous in Summerhall but as the war neared it's end The Blackfyre's were getting desperate and sought to send a message. People snuck into Summerhall, intending to kidnap toddler Daeron but found the boy was heavily watched maesters as it seemed he was tortured by nightmares of Starlings on blackened fire. Dyanna had to spend many nights at his bedside so while they weren't able to get Daeron, the young princess Rafaella was only protected by a single guard and one nanny as the girl had no problems sleeping at night, both of whom were easy to dispose of. It wasn't until the next morning that the bodies were found and the princess went missing. Dyanna immediately tried to go to battle herself but as she might be pregnant from Maekar's last visit, she was forbidden no mater how much she pleaded and how much Maekar tried to fight for his wifes right for revenge. The war ended with no sign of the baby princess, only Daemon Blackfyre's dying laugh as Maekar demanded to know. Dyanna did give birth to the baby who turned out to be Aerion then she had Aemon, Daella, and finally Rhae. All her children but none of them looking like her, all dragons and none her little starling.
Instead of being taken, bargained, or killed like intended, the messengers holding baby Rafe arrived too late to deliver her to Daemon Blackfyre and Aegor Rivers, instead the baby was handed to Daemons wife, Rohanne of Tyrosh. She took the baby in and nursed her like she does her own, finding no issue feeding the princess on one breast and her third child Daemon II Blackfyre on the other. Eventually when they had to flee to the free cities she had become attached to the girl and Aegor let her keep Rafe as she was still a bargaining chip (and he kind of forgot that she wasn't Rohannes as they looked alike. Yes, the irony is on purpose)
Daemon II Blackfyre and Rafe Summers (a mean reminder of her heritage and like a bastard name) grew up thick as thieves, Daemon a poet and Rafe a fighter, though never allowed to pick up a sword. When the two were 9ish and had snuck out of the castle they met a a 6 year old slave boy named Dunk Snow, a product of wildling woman and Wall Scout man and had been sold to Tyroshi slavers. A man tried to rob them when Dunk swept in to save them simply because it was a kind thing to do by simply shoving the man into a a stream. Daemon and Rafe immediately try to convince Aegor to buy Dunk as repayment for helping them, which he does, only to have Dunk trained as a pit fighter as that would earn them more income and notoriety. The two "royals" do get to see their friend occasionally, but it's always a danger.
As the years passed Aegor Bittersteel got more... well... bitter and angry, grooming Daemon II to be not just a Junior but his father. It was concerning as Daemon came back from training starting to look like Dunk after a warm up pit fight. Got to the point where Rafe was concerned for her milk brother, so she started plotting their escape to Westeros. Eventually Rohanne found out, but instead of anger she hugged her children and gave them coin, instructions on, and even access to a ship. Her only requirements being that they stay far away from the Targaryens and take Dunk with them for protection. The last night they hugged their mother and left, sneaking Dunk out of his cell and all got on a ship to Westeros.
Once there, Daemon, now going by John the Fiddler decided that he should make them money as a hedge knight... before conceding that he isn't that good and knighting Dunk in his place and being more or less the group bard instead. It is a fine few years, traveling, tournies (Dunk's history of being beaten and impaled helping him get high in rankings and even winning his last two), and avoiding any sign of Targaryens when they find themselves at Ashford Meadow. A simple tourney for a girls birthday party. Until the group hits an inn and the ones of Valyrian blood hear the most terrifying words they could. "I've dreamt of you"
Additional Note: This does mean Aerion is a rainbow baby, thus being both parents favorite by default. He was just as aggressive of a baby as Rafe and they thought him to be kind of her reborn in a sense. Rafaella's kidnapping is also why Maekar has such a large distrust of Daeron's dreams. He somewhat blames them for Rafe's dissapearance.
Also, not said, but Rafe DID have a hard time amongst the Blackfyres. Rohanne and Daemon/John were the only ones nice to her because Rohanne nursed the baby and John was an outcast. A lot of Rafe's childhood was being a mix of servant and verbal punching bag to the family (no physical harm as she was still a bargaining chip). Rafe just got really good at sneaking around and stealing because of it. She also secretly learned archery and knife throwing because she found the time.
