Intersectionality. Let’s Talk About It
Regarding the concept that intersectionality is overlapping social identities and systems of exclusion, it seems that emotional intelligence is an additional system of exclusion to add to the list.
Pain
--is beyond just a feeling or emotion, it is an experience and way of life for many people in America. Pain, I thought was a relative and universal occurrence that would produce sympathy and empathy for someone else’s life other than your own. Clearly, that’s not the case.
Now as time goes on, I’m genuinely concerned for many people’s ability to properly understand and feel the severity of the consistent social events that are happening all around this country. Lastly, I simply wanted to express that it seems that these certain events are being disregard more and more showing the world the true character of this country.
Intersectionality is a topic that cannot be oversimplified. It involves everything that makes up the persona of people; age, race, sex, class, ethnicity, religion, political beliefs, etc. and the fact that considering a person’s race/ethnicity almost justifies their lives being taken, and seen as less important than another’s, is truly horrific to know that the minds of many people in this modern era are desensitized and continuously being passed down from generation to generation.
