This story from Texas really exemplifies the problem with wedding culture.

“I understand, but this is her wedding day” is them saying “you and your children’s lives are less important than one woman having a specific experience”, and I think that’s really telling not just of wedding culture, but the treatment of the working class in general. These people literally believe that we exist to sacrifice our lives for the pleasure of the rich.

That’s the thing: these people aren’t ever going to tell their grandkids that they got people sick or killed. They will gloss over it like they gloss over everything else. It’s always the good times and never the bad, and their grandkids won’t learn responsibility as such.
