There are a few scenes of Mel asking people where Langdon is but have there been any scenes of him asking where SHE is. No and you wanna know why? Because he is constantly stalking her throughout the department enough to always know where she is

Day 23: Milestone
@kingdonmicrofic | 500 words | Rated G | Read on ao3 | Previous installments here
August 24, 2031 (21 weeks)
Mel leaned back against the pillows, mindlessly running her hand over her belly as she waited for Frank to join her in bed. Though sheâd had a lovely time on their babymoon, swashbuckling their way through the Ren Faire, she was glad to be home.
She couldnât believe sheâd already passed the halfway point in her pregnancy. The anatomy scan was one of the milestones she most worried about, terrified of a negative outcome.
Now, there were more to come. Week 24, early viability. Week 28, the third trimester begins. Week 37, early term. And that was just babyâs milestones. Mel had her own to look forward to.
She was finally showing, switching to maternity scrubs any day now. Frankâs mom was already hard at work planning the baby shower. Mel would decide soon how long to keep working before starting maternity leave. Once she hits the third trimester, sheâll no longer be scheduled for doubles and will have limited night shifts.
She also knows that the third trimester is when sheâll start wanting time to move faster, ready for it to be over. Sheâll ache all overâback pain, hip pain, even more breast soreness. Swollen feet and ankles she wonât even be able to see due to her bump. Sleeping will only get more difficult. Sheâll worry she forgot something, that she wonât be good at this, that something will go wrong at the eleventh hour.
But itâll all be worth it. Everything that got them here was worth it. Everything to come will be worth it too. Because pretty soon, sheâll hold their child in her arms and know she would do it all again a thousand times over.
At least, thatâs what she hopes for.
Frank slid into bed beside her, bringing Mel back to the present. She snuggled into his side, hand cupping her belly as he gently tilted her chin upwards for a kiss, nuzzling his nose against hers.
âThis weekend was amazing, Mel. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.â
âI did, it was perfâoh!â
She froze, holding her hand firmly against her belly.
âWhat? Whatâs wrong? Talk to me.â
âI think I just felt the baby move.â
She grabbed Frankâs hand, pressing it to her belly.
âI started feeling something a few weeks ago. Like aâŚswish? Or bubbles? But I wasnât sure if it was the baby or something elseâŚâ She trailed off, hoping theyâd feel it again.
A beat later, there it was. A flutter. Maybe a kick. Definitely stronger than anything sheâd felt so far.
Mel gasped. She looked up, Frankâs awed expression mirroring her own.
âOh my god. Oh my god,â Mel whispered.
Frank shimmied downward on the bed, grinning widely.
âHi baby, itâs Daddy. Thank you for saying hi. We canât wait to meet you,â Frank whispered, kissing her belly. Mel ran her other hand through his hair, savoring this absolutely perfect moment.
Of all the milestones so far, this was Melâs favorite one yet.

Week 37
In the earlier days of her pregnancy, Mel had known what it was to lounge, laying on her bed, the couch, or a deck chair in the garden, her feet raised, while her husband took care of her every need.
Stargazing 314/314, melpreg, rated G @kingdonmicrofic
âDo you think sheâll like it?â Mel whispers.
Frank turns to her with a soft smile. Glow in the dark stars stuck to the ceiling are a pretty safe choice of decor, in his humble opinion. âHow could she not? Seriously, who doesnât like stargazing from the comfort of their own home?â
Mel sighs and lifts her head to glance around the nursery. Theyâre laying side by side on the soft rug in the middle of the room. âWhat if she doesnât like the color of the walls? Or she likes sea creatures instead ofââ
âThen weâll change it,â he soothes. âSheâll tell us what she likes, and weâll listen, like good parents. Right?â
âWithin reason.â Mel settles back down. âIâm just nervous. Excited, but nervous. I canât wait to find out what sheâs like.â
âSheâs gonna love you,â Frank muses. He shifts to speak directly to Melâs belly. âYouâre such a lucky girl, having Mel as your mom. Sheâs the best.â
âFrank,â Mel whines, âyouâre gonna make me cry!â
âWhat? Itâs the truth!â Mel deserved to hear kind words all the time.
Mel covers her face with her hands, overwhelmed. âYouâre the best too. I wouldnât wanna do this with anyone else.â It certainly wasnât an easy decision to have a baby when their lives could only be described as chaotic. But Mel trusted Frank. Heâd always take care of her, of their family.
Frank, for his part, actively fantasized about how fast heâll get up when the baby cries. Melâs gonna be the most well-rested new mom in history, mark his words.
He stares up at the ceiling again. He had stars like this in his childhood bedroom and the nostalgia aches as much as it comforts him.
Itâs a great big wide world out there, but thereâs nothing for their daughter to fear when sheâs safe, warm, and loved at home.
