The vamp is actually twelve year old me’s oc which is saddening because when youre 12 your ocs slap so hard and then 6 years later your main one is just a guy whos a business major
tbh i suppose it’s hard to 1-1 compare because in recent years ive switched overwhelmingly to trad like getting heavy into oils for school and then having the one set of colour pencils i brought to uni. just been uninterested in digital art unless i’m drawing d&d stuff
also they nuked drawcast so im never getting the brushes of my childhood back but eeeehheehee i think these are from rewatching hxh with my sister during covid lockdown ahhh my youth my youth
i cant even objectively claim improvement because all i got was faster
soo charmed by the stylisation and flat colour and it’s worth noting this was before i got into the autodesk charcoal brush and abandoned literally every other brush..
also worth noting that
i was leaning on the facial stylisation because i didn’t actually really know how faces worked at that point but part of me yearns for those days
i cared a lot more about oc and fandom stuff so i actually bothered to do up backgrounds and design scenes and try hard essentially … obviously looks like i took the time to figure out what a neon sign or engraved armour looked like and study references
also i was drawing to post finished products for a tumblr/instagram following so i did a lot more complete pieces
with the gift of hindsight now i can concede that the confidence (i.e. arrogance) my teen self had in art was not unwarranted
6/3
i’m gonna make you a saint!
kara tur campaignnn
and okay ignore me as i go on a mild reblog spree because my child self has seriously impressed my current self
went digging in really old art archives and honestly impressed at the detail with which kid me did outfits
anyway it’s an excellent time capsule to what styles a 15 year old thought was cool during quarantine
ocracoke, 18 may
finally after 3 years i got the song writing germ back
