HAPPY 2ND BIRTHDAY HRH PRINCE LOUIS ARTHUR CHARLES!!
The Duchess of Cambridge gave birth to her third child and second son on April 23rd 2018, St George’s Day, in the Lindo Wing of St Mary’s Hospital, in London. The news the Duchess was in labour broke at 8:30am, before being confirmed on the Kensington Palace Twitter account at 10:22AM. The new prince was born at 11:01am, weighing 8lb 7oz, making him the heaviest baby born to the heir of the British throne in 100 years, and the second heaviest royal baby after Savannah Phillips.
It was confirmed the Duke of Cambridge was present for the birth and both families had were delighted with the news. In a historic moment, Princess Charlotte retained her place in the line of succession and the new baby prince was confirmed to be fifth in the line of succession, after his grandfather, father, and older siblings. Prince William left the hospital during the afternoon and returned at 4:45PM with his two eldest children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte of Cambridge, who waved at the crowds before going to meet their baby brother.
The Duke and Duchess faced the press with their new son shortly before 6PM. After a few moments in front of the cameras, the returned to the safety of the Lindo Wing, before leaving the hospital for Kensington Palace. After several years of waiting a few painful days, the baby prince’s name was revealed on April 27th 2020, at 11AM. The prince’s full name was Louis Arthur Charles (Louis is one of William’s and George’s middle names and linked to Louis Mountbatten; Arthur is a middle name of Charles and William; and Charles is obviously in honour of Charles, and the masculine version of Charlotte’s name) and he has since been known as HRH Prince Louis of Cambridge.
