♕ —- Greer tipped her head back a bit and laughed. “Sounds like a perfect night to me. Fictional people are sometimes way better than real ones,” she replied. “What’s the go-to movie of choice?”

Cam paused, trying for a moment to remember the leading actors’ names. They couldn’t. “It’s an American film from 2011, so super old and idiotic. It’s called Just Go With It. It’s got this mediocre dude and the chick from the Friends show as the lead characters.”

Hayley rolled her eyes. “It’s fine. I’m used to drunk, crazy customers by now. Plus if it gets too bad I just call over security.” 

“It’s still disgusting. I don’t know why they think they can get away with talking to you like that.” Cam looked at the drunk person, giving them a mean look. “It’s almost as if they lack basic human decency.”

“Oh no I can take care of myself that’s not the issue. I just needed someone to join me in the indignation. There are a lot of things you could call me and if I’m honest I don’t care for most people’s opinions anyway… But ugly… That I cannot tolerate.” Vincent let out a dramatic sigh, his offence wasn’t pretend. It was one of the few things that he really cared about. “This is where you tell me I’m pretty to make me feel better by the way.”

“I was going to call you pretty before you begged for it.” Cam said. “You’re honest, they’re not. I mean it’s just a bold faced lie to call you ugly.”

YJ scratched the back of his head awkwardly. “My teammate said she’d be waiting here so I was trying to scare her.”

“Ahh okay. Well, I’m sorry to disappoint.” They shrugged. “Do you want me to help you find her so you can do the thing again?”

Albus let out an amused snort, “No way. Did they think you were going to stalk the players to get an exposé or something?” he mused. He hummed, shrugging one shoulder. “I can’t really complain. I’ve been getting more work, spending time with my family and all that jazz. Not much drama to report. What about you, Skeeter?”

“Would you put it past them?” Cam let out an amused huff. They listened to Albus before responding. “I got a new job working as an assistant for Daphne Greengrass. I honestly think she’s mad for hiring me, I’m grateful, but she needs to be sent to Mungo’s for an evaluation. Oh, and I made a complete ass of myself in front of you dad. It took me hours to pull my foot out of my mouth.”

“Mm,” Harry hummed at the end of that little ramble. “Kinda like you just did?” He questioned, brow raised. “If you’re not interested about that, why the not at all subtle attempt to get me to respond?”

Cam looked down at their feet, counting the flowers on the toe of their shoes. “Indoctrination I guess?” Shit, they said too much. “I just--” They started to find a reason that made sense. “I see it all the time, at work I mean, and it’s hard to talk to people when you really have nothing in common.”

“I wish I was kidding, babes. I wish I was,” Marcie shook her head. “But yeah, Reese’s new secretary really tried to tell me I can’t see him because he’s in a client meeting, when a) I have access to his calendar and b) we’d made lunch plans 15 minutes before,” she rolled her eyes before looking up at Cambry. “It’s okay, it’ll be quite entertaining watching her trying to get on with my husband and failing so miserably.”

Cam shook their head, slightly embarrassed for the aforementioned secretary. “As if he would ever look twice. I don’t get why people get jobs just so they can sleep with their boss, it’s unnerving.” They paused for only a moment. “Promise you’ll tell me about when she eventually flounders?”

Will raised his eyebrow at Cam, before snorting. “The way you were so confident and nonchalant about that is seriously a little unnerving.” He smirked. “I’ll round you up a group to bust you out of prison if worst comes to worst, I suppose.”

Cam’s grin only widened at his remark. “That’s the goal, you know. Just psych them out.” They laughed at their joke. They had only been accosted once by MACUSA, everything else they’d done was minor and mostly innocent. “Good luck with that, there’ll be what, three of you?”

“Sweetheart. None of that.” Daphne gestured towards them with a wave of her hand, sensing the embarrassment from the slip-up. “You’re doing just fine. Much better than the last incompetent idiot I had in here. You could honestly stand there and it would be an improvement,” she gave her a small smirk. “Italian happens to be my favorite, so that’s fine with me.” 

“That sounds good. I’ll make sure to pick up an extra tiramisu, you haven’t lived until you’ve had theirs.” Cam smiled. Their awkwardness was slowly going away, something they’d always struggled with with people older than them. “I’ll check for messages before I leave, too.”

♕ —- “Eh, I highly doubt she’ll be around until the end of the year. Pop’s attention spam is rather short,” Greer said with a snort. “Unfortunately no, unless you count watching movies and going over quidditch new plays. I live a fascinating life, I know,” she added jokingly.

Cam laughed at Greer’s remark. “That sounds typical for the average witch nowadays. I put on a sappy rom-com and organized my sock drawer. It’s all uphill from here.”

“Yep. Always.” Harry slid his glasses off and looked at the other, considering them for a moment. “Tip. Might want to work on being a little more subtle, darling. You might as well have I’m a journalist lit up above you.”

Cam’s eyebrows shot up. “Oh god no, I’m not a journalist. I am a temp assistant. But I have no desire to get into writing about politics, or people for that matter.” They tried to force a smile. It was true, they didn’t want to get into that exact career. “I don’t even know what I’m doing half the time at work, anyway. They talk way too fast.”

Albus shrugged, “Eh, it’s nothing I haven’t heard before,” he said. “But at the moment, I was like, ‘what the fuck? don’t you know who I am?’” The curly haired boy let out a chuckle. “I never had to drop the Potter last name like that before, but it was worth it and I got some shit for free.”

Cambry laughed at his remark. “I’m glad you got some free stuff. Last time I pulled the Skeeter card I got kicked out of a Quidditch game.” They shook their head. “So how’s life, Potter?”

♕ —- Greer frowned and scrunched up her nose. “Dysfunctional families, gotta love it,” she hummed. “My step mother remembered to send something but like, sent it to my mum’s place instead of my flat. So, that was fun.”

“Oh joy, I love that for you.” Cam grinned. “Did you have any other Valentine’s stories?”

“Darling, I told you about calling me that.” Daphne gave them a look, eyebrow raised, though there was no heat behind it. She smirked over the top of her laptop, closing it as she tucked a blonde curl behind her ear with her free hand. “Where were you going? That might have an affect on my answer.”

Cam tried not to let their embarrassment show after being reminded. They’d never had a real job before so this was all new territory. “There’s this muggle restaurant near the Leaky Cauldron that has really good Italian. I was going to get a pesto dish. They have a lot of other stuff, too. Even gluten free options if that’s your thing.”

♕ —- Greer let out a soft snort. “If you add a really good pasta to that combination, then I would be completely sold,” she remarked and looked over at Cam. “Did you get any fun Valentines,” she asked.

“Cheers to that.” Cambry opened the box of chocolates and popped one in their mouth. They rolled their eyes as they chewed and swallowed the candy. “If you count the card that said There’s Still Hope for You that Rita sent to me, once again containing a picture of one of her deemed suitable bachelors, then yes. I did.”

♕ —- “Diets,” Greer shook her head, “100 percent do not recommend. They only make you feel miserable.” She then chuckled and looked over at her friend. “You don’t have to eat the entire box in one sitting. One or two won’t hurt thought.”

“You’re absolutely correct in that.” Cam turned the box over in their hands, taking a look at the serving suggestions. “Yeah, but where’s the fun in spacing it out? Why not get wine drunk and eat the whole box?”
