Muslims in movies and TV shows are practically nonexistent, and when they are included, they’re misrepresented and portrayed incorrectly. A group of young Muslim Americans are trying to make a show about Salahadin Ayyubi, the Muslim leader from the 12th century in the hopes of better representing Islam as a religion. Two years ago they were able to raise $84,000 on Kickstarter, but decided to save that money and pitch their show to Netflix now.
