the medical system is constructed as an incredibly complicated obstacle course that facilitates the social murder of anyone too disabled or poor or abandoned of social support to get through it
and then doctors have the audacity to talk about patients who are “trying to game the system” to get access to treatment. it’s like, yeah if the medical system is set up like a game that only awards healthcare to people who play it well enough, patients will try their best to win that game. what is their other option?
of course people are going to learn exactly what to say and how to perform to get the treatment they need. if there is no other way to survive than fawning and soothing doctors’ egos and listing off textbook descriptions of things in order while acting like they have no knowledge at all of their own body and no capacity to make decisions on their own —then people will do that. to survive.
if you want honesty then you have to prove that honesty will not get patients killed. this issue is not on patients. it’s the medical system that needs to change.

I suppose most people are more familiar with pet dogs than with falconry and therefore calling a dehumanized mech pilot a "hound" is more immediately evocative than calling it a "hawk," but you gotta admit the vibe of the handler as falconer and the pilots as their birds of prey absolutely slaps. If anyone ever does something like mechsploitation but with scifi fighter jets instead of giant robots, pleeeease call the pilots hawks

I have this self destructive tendency that is commonly called having principles
so, if you want to know why algorithmic censorship rather than moderation is an unacceptable policy let me give you an example. On insta its perfectly acceptable to tell a disabled person to their face that the world would be better if their genetic condition was gene edited out of existance because it would alow them to be productive members of society.
But if I use the phrase 'usless eater' to cite how their position is explicitly downstream of nazi eugenics, I get a little message explaining that im in breach of TOS.
They get to advocate for the eradication of people like me freely but I cant put an accurate name to their Beliefs. I have to soften what they're advocating for to be able to describe it
