How did you stop your previous bad relationship from effecting any new one?
That’s a very good question and I’m not entirely sure you can completely stop it effecting your relationship when you’ve been through something that’s changed the way you think and feel about certain things. But I do know that taking some time to yourself before getting into another relationship after a seriously sucky one is always a good idea but when you do finally get into another relationship, talk about it. Let your partner know exactly what you’ve been through and exactly how it hurt you and exactly how you feel now. So when something arises, when you’re feeling unsteady about something due to past relationships or the way your were once treated by someone else, your current partner is aware and can help and you can both talk about it. Talking is such a huge part of a healthy relationship but it’s astounding how many people don’t talk about the way they think and feel at all let alone nearly enough!
