Carol Sturka & Zosia I Pluribus Season 1
" and, why she gotta be so goddamn fuckable? "
PLURIBUS | Season 1, Episode 9, "La Chica o El Mundo"
going through two lesbian heartbreaks within a year no wonder she had to get an atom bomb
I find this moment so innocent, so quietly beautiful, such a gentle glimpse into Carol’s inner self. For all her groundedness, for how seriously she faces the situation as it is, this small excitement slips through anyway.
Carol, who tried to handle everything else with such careful composure, suddenly can’t resist climbing the stairs to see if Zosia has finished, only to turn and hurry back down the moment she hears the door opening, smoothing herself into nonchalance before she’s seen.
It’s a small, almost childish instinct, and that’s what makes it so telling. In that brief back-and-forth lives how deeply she craves normalcy, and how easily an old version of her can resurface when she feels safe enough - especially around Zosia.
Pluribus - ep. 06 // ep. 07
I was really glad that it turned out Carol isn't a brilliant literary writer who was slumming it in romantasy to make money. Like, Wycaro is not a cynical cash grab - it's HER fantasy, in a very deep down, sincere way. Except she had to change it because the world would have rejected her books if she wrote them about two women. And so that's a big driver of her bitterness towards her fandom, even though it was her decision to write the books the way she wrote them
