Need more reasons to stop watching Game Grumps?
Starting with their own YouTube channel, which is basically its own callout, in 2014 they uploaded a series in which they played a Disney Princess video game obviously made for young girls and, thus, has a young girl as the player character. In the very first episode they start an ongoing joke about the rape of this girl. If I remember correctly, they joke about it later in other episodes but I’m not going to look through the rest to find out; this makes me physically nauseous and it’s pretty damning on its own. Because of the amount of backlash this received the video has been changed to include a trigger warning at the start of the video and in the description. This was the old description, according to the Wiki:
Arin has apologized about this multiple times around the time the episode was uploaded…
…but, to be frank, I don’t care. They laughed way too hard at a scenario in which a little girl was raped. I can’t even imagine what they expected the reaction to this would be. Of course, on Twitter and YouTube they were defended by their fans. This comment stands out to me:
(Oh, hi, Asuna icon.) Speaking of their fanbase. Many of them, especially those on Tumblr, distance themselves from the most prominent part of the Game Grumps fandom (that being those like Alex Lambi above). I think those fans think of the Grumps as their precious gamer babies that “somehow” ended up with a huge amount of absolutely vile fans. That’s simply not true. The Grumps appeal to these people for a reason.

The fact is, the Grumps consistently make offhand comments that are racist, sexist, homophobic, and transphobic. They fetishize women of color and lesbians, the treat any other race like a dumb stereotype, they make jokes about CSA. And their fans eat it up. Anyone who watches or has watched Game Grumps at any point knows this. Most of my examples here are older ones, but watch any of their recent episodes, especially “Doodle Doods,” and see just how much they’ve changed.
The last few things I’m sharing are focused specifically on Arin and his ties to well-known pedophiles. First I’m going to bring up his collaboration with Shmorky, which I think many of you may know. If not, it’s fairly easy to search and find out what they did. They’ve been basically driven from the web by this point.
There is absolutely no way that Arin and the rest of the Grumps don’t know that Shmorky is a pedophile by this point. Their fans certainly do.
But the videos are still up. I know they’ve been contacted about this, I even did so myself when I was still a fan. I got no response.
Then there’s Zone-Sama, who has also animated for Game Grumps. Another pedophile. Take a look at their Tumblr account if you’d like. (Very NSFW content, FYI.)
Again, definitely not hard to find out that Zone is a creep and a half. And then, Arin’s support of the game Indivisble, made by the creators of Skullgirls, notorious for the pantyshots that were, at one time (they’ve been removed now), included in this game with four teenage girls (one of which may be as young as twelve, though conveniently their age was never officially established) as main characters.
Another pedophile helped work on Indivisble, but I won’t get into that for the sake of the length of this post.
Lastly, what I believe to be the worst out of all of these points (which is saying something), is Arin’s (specifically Arin) association with Shadman (yes, THAT Shadman).
For those of you lucky enough not to know who Shadman is, I’d say that he is, out of all these people, the most vile. He’s very open about this; it doesn’t take much looking but I will warn you that he is, of course, a pedophile and his artwork is disgusting. Search at your own risk.
Not only have Arin and Shadman collaborated on Newgrounds, but Arin is featured in some of Shadman’s old pedophilic art (not exactly NSFW, but… it’s bad. Arin is in the upper righthand corner). Also, there’s this:
Mortemer (Suzy Berhow) is Arin’s wife. The image was of her wearing a Shadman shirt, it is, of course, now gone.
So, there’s something to think about. Take it from someone who used to watch Game Grumps’ videos nearly everyday for years, what they’ve done and said in the past is honestly inexcusable. Some of the above is from nearly three years ago. Have they improved? Well, I look at Arin’s #CutieSaturday and I think, “no.” And those bigoted comments they make so casually are far too frequent to be “not informed.” That is willful ignorance… In other words, racism. Please just stop tolerating these men; I wish I could get back all the hours of my life I wasted on their content. None of this is okay.
Yuuup. Holy shit I didn’t know that he collaborated with Shad until today.
