Lately I’ve been obsessed with this idea of an ‘anomaly’ person, that person that sort of appears out of nowhere and doesn’t quite fit neatly into your life, or the expectations / plans for your life. I think that’s one of the indicators that they’re going to be special: they just appear. They find a place in your life, a little nook or cranny, and they just opt to stay there. Most times it feels like there was a void there that existed forever, just waiting for that person to fill it. You aren’t even sure if you can remember life before them; it feels like they’ve always been there. They’re a part of you, or perhaps they own a part of you.
Sometimes it’s romantic, other times it isn’t. Sometimes, I think, they’re there for a greater purpose that spreads across the whole rest of your life, other times they’re there for a season. Sometimes they help you move forwards, or heal, or process a change that you couldn’t do by yourself. They walk with you, guiding you to what’s next. I think sometimes, they’re there because the universe or God or any other powerful entity or force of nature decided that you weren’t capable of progressing without some help. I think that’s why they just appear; they were forced in by a higher power.
They’re like that character that’s rushed into a story, no backstory or logical reason to belong. And yet…over time, as pages turn and you read deeper into the story, their introduction makes sense. It has purpose. They are a side character turned hero. They’re leading the story forwards, and you’re the one that’s following behind them.
How do you (or truthfully, how do I) deal with this as a logical, rational, fact-driven person? — You don’t. I mean, you don’t get to deal with it the way you usually would. You can’t logically explain their introduction into your life. You cannot rationalize why they make you feel what you feel. There aren’t enough facts present, and not enough facts to discover, to make it make sense. You merely welcome them in and allow them to make themselves at home in your life.
They’re nestled in, they belong. Life doesn’t quite make sense with them, but you know it would make even less sense without them. They’re your…twin flame? Soul mate? They’re…you. Or at least, a part of you. They overlap. They’re cut from the same fabric. You’re lucky that your life was able to intersect with theirs, that you were born to be able to share a part of your lifetime with them. You’re lucky that they said ‘hi,’ or that they answered the message, and kept answering. You’re lucky that for some reason they’ve realized that, perhaps, you’re an anomaly for them too.
