Final Cani-Fit Winter Motivator Blogs
Jody Kyle
Im actually a bit sad to say this is my final blog for the #canifitwintermotivator
.
Definately more successes to report back with, this time. My last 2 weeks began with what i can only describe as a feature filled run @ #canifit class around dean park, hill reps, sumo squats & side lunges
not for the faint-hearted, but strangely enjoyable. Myself & Kaiya really struggled that night, for various reasons. The following 3 days, I couldnt make any sudden movements with any part of my body
, let alone run
to say I was unhappy I couldn't run, was an understatement. Due to the xmas day celebrations
, the class was changed to the tues the following week & still suffering with what felt like torn thigh muscles, I made it to the last #canifit class of 2014
, with Oban, so was happy about that. The saturday after, we had a road trip to ae forest, both dogs were bikejored seperately
, we even got the directions right this time lol. http://runkeeper.com/activity?userId=12182666&trip=487479821
The sunday, I ran a 10k @ mabie forest with both doggies, who ran their wee socks off for me
. Please see the video of us at around 4 miles in, me heading uphill. A motivator aim, completed, so chuffed to bits that we done it, a time to improve at the next attempt
. Lovely trails and views, looking forward to a return trip. http://runkeeper.com/activity?userId=12182666&trip=487901891
My other motivator aim was to get closer to a 25min 5k, getting under the 30min mark is done, my minutes per mile is more often 8-9mins, so an improvement on my usual pace
⌚ http://runkeeper.com/activity?userId=12182666&trip=489099034 so this was on another trip to ae forest, on hogmanay. We also had a bikejor with Oban who is becoming more confident every time, http://runkeeper.com/activity?userId=12182666&trip=489099049.
If it wasn't for the #canifitwintermotivator, I would not have ran further than I thought I was capable of, completing a hilly 10k. I would not have been able to run faster over a 5k with hitting 8.5 mins per mile. I may not have been out so much, to work on building up Obans confidence, when bikejoring. Kaiyas definitely enjoying, building up her fitness again, after time off from running, through injury. I have visited new places to run & bikejor & met new people I can call friends. I even started running without my dogs, although it's not as fun.
Now the challenge has finished, I intend to keep up the 3-4 x per week, training with my dogs, doing a combination of running and bikejoring.
Thanks to the ayrshire canifit group for all your continued support & making my running enjoyable again.
Thanks also to Lindsay for hosting the canifit winter motivator challenge & thanks to all the other motivator participants. But the biggest thanks must go to my dogs as without them none of this would have been possible.
I reckon though, that I get to take the best prizes home, after every training session, my dogs Kaiya & Oban.
Jody xx
It's the end of the winter motivator and it's been great fun and certainly has motivated me to keep going though November and December which is what it was all about but best of all I've actually enjoyed it. We've ran, walked, hiked, scootered, Cani cross competitions, classes - Cani-Fit and boogie bounce to name a few.. Wow no wonder I'm tired! I've now also joined a gym.. Dear gawd what has happened to me. No longer do I drool over sparkly shoes but now it's trail trainers and fab coloured running tights! Love it all and so does my happy and content Nismo. Thanks everyone for keeping us going and may 2015 be filled with lots more of the same. Marion Smith
Well as you know I'm not very good at these blogs but here goes for the last one.
I did check my weight at start of motivator and again today, no change but taking into account of all the Christmas nights out etc I reckon that's quite good actually! Discovered swimming, going to keep it up once a week, but not do a mile everytime! Last year I thought I might do a Parkrun once a month but that did not happen so will try harder this year. I did do Strathclyde Parkrun last week and that was because of reading about everyone doing their thing so I got out.
I have been doing more exercise over the last couple of years but more varied this year with Pilates, cani-fit, walking and I can now add swimming. I definately do feel the benefit-but not always at the time!
In 2015 I hope to meet up more with other Cani-fitters but I prefer to do daytime runs so not always suitable for others during the week but I will post after holidays to see who if anybody is free.
I do need encouragement and this group has given me that bigtime-thanks, and I have enjoyed getting out a bit more and I feel good although may not look any better!
Keep up the good work everyone and a big thank you to Lindsay for setting this up.

I can't believe it's all over. :( This has to be my most active (not to mention quickest) winter yet. This time last year I managed only a few runs and work made me miss lots of group classes. This year - what a transformation! (If we can ignore the few slips in running plans due to the December festivities) Who'd have thought I would've found myself out running on Xmas Eve & Boxing Day, successfully out-running my 11yr old football star nephew, even running (willingly) through sleet! Usually I use an NI trip as an excuse to plank myself in front of the fire for the duration - not this time thanks to the motivator! I've even discovered a new trail at Strathy this week thanks to Freya & Jennifer! When I set off on this challenge I wanted to get team ginner's running mojo back and I think we may have done it! - Charlie is running great. Even wee Ruby had a great time at Strathy yesterday didn't put the breaks on once! - We've completed our 2nd Canicross race (and our entry is submitted for Team Spanna's return at Ruff Dugger). - Our speed is coming back. - We're pretty much injury free. - I've eventually got myself the PT I've been talking about for months - At long last I've managed to do the cross-training Lindsay has been advising me to do for a year (soz it took me so long to listen properly): luv my Saturday bootcamps & returning to Pilates next week. - And let's not forget...the cake issue is now resolved! 2 weeks running none followed by cake! I think that deserves a medal (or a cheeky celebration cupcake) We may never be long distance athletes or do the fastest 5k ever but I'm luvving getting outside and exercising with my dogs. I've met a great bunch of people & it's so nice to see everyone's progress. Great to see the transformation in people and celebrate in everyone's successes. Competition? Fancy trainers first prize? Pah I reckon the prize is turning us all into happily addicted canifitters :) Happy New Year Team Canifit! Here's to another year filled with fun, laughter & even more new members to the team! Big up to Lindsay - you've transformed us all! :) See you on the 2nd for some seagull chasing! Luv the Ginja Ninjas Xxxxxx
Brian Stirling:
Last blog who hoo, had such a busy few weeks with work so not been getting out as much running sadly, Had my first park run at Eglinton and actually amazed by how well I got on don't think I've managed to keep such a quick pace up for so long ever so it really shows how much the Cani-fit classes have helped me get so much more fitter now. With the cold icy weather I did a bit more core exercises at home and borrowed my brothers dumbbells to add a little weight training to man up my girly arms.
Now hopefully after all the festive celebrations will have a bit more time to get myself back out there and keep going and getting myself into shape for summer and get tough murder ready
Big thanks to lyndsay and everyone else who's been out and around with me I would have probably gave up and cosied up in my onsie all winter had it no been for everyone posts
Kirsten Cowling:
Well, time for my farewell blog from the Winter Motivator. This has been an amazing few months for me. When I started Cani-fit I was totally convinced that it would be a summer thing - come winter I might manage the odd jog on a sunday but realistically it would be cozy winter nights by the fire. I had absolutely no idea that you could (and did) run with headtorches! I never realised that it didnt matter what the weather was doing. I certainly never realised that my biggest issues would be being too warm while I was running rather than freezing my big (but decreasing!) butt off. This time last year the search for the ideal sports bra wasn't even on my radar let alone realising that you could tape your ankles and that it wasnt just a case of grabbing the old trainers and going for it. Waterproof socks? Technical T shirts? What was all this stuff! I havent found this easy. I am too old and too fat for this but I got out there and "just did it". I have now managed to run 229.78 miles since June (I did manage a bit before that but I hadnt sussed out how to record it all) which is just amazing even though every step was hard work. Oh, and thats about equivalent of running from Ayrshire to Birmingham!! I have done a 5k, two 7k's (came dead last at one of them), 2 10k's without the dogs and lots more things with them including Ruff Dugger, the Canifit Experience and a Santa Dash. The great thing about all this torture (sorry, meant to say motivation, typo!) is that I am getting more and more prepared for disaster. When the Zombie Apocalypse happens I am going to be a survivor! I know that nobody believes me and I can almost hear you all sniggering but it will happen - mark my words! And when it does, I have a Plan! Everyone should have a ZAP (Boston City Council have one, go on, google it, you know you dont believe me - and while you are at it, google chicken zombies - they are already among us!!! ;) ). My plan is fairly simple and can be summed up in 3 short words. RUN LIKE BLEEP. I have additional parts of my Plan (my weapon of choice would be an axe, portable and you wont run out of bullets, my first sacrifice would probably have to be one of my sheep - sorry babies, remember the BAD lorry I saved you from, its payback time :( ), but the most important thing is getting the hell out of Dodge. Now, those of you who have seen me in action know I aint no Mo Farrah but thats not the point. I dont have to be fast. Zombies are not fast. They are slow and lumbering (in fact, if they happen to be wearing black tights and a headtorch and are tied to a couple of zombie collies, it might take you a moment or two to sort out who's who) so fast doesnt matter. I dont have to be FAST. I only have be fastER! And I only have to be able to run faster for further than those around me. And Canifit has got me doing that. I can now easily outrun my 79 year old arthritic mother - even with her hip replacement - and my 80 year old dad is getting pretty dottery. By the time he's realised he is being chased he'll have forgotten why he was trying to run in the first place. Much as I love my parents, this gives me time to escape. Result! Gotta love a good Plan. Mind you, I have had it if I happen to be at Eglinton on a thursday night when the Zombie Apocalypse hits. Lindsey, Sandra and Lynne will vanish into the night, their giggling drowned out by the sound of my screams...... Anyway, a final big Thankyou to all of you for keeping me motivated and for being part of the best fun I have had this year. Cheers Cani-fitters - you rock :D See you all next year, lots of love, Kirsten, Splash and Leo xxxx

Well since the submission of our last blog, things have been rather eventful for team beagle! Floyd continued the team effort while iv been injured, for the majority if the winter motivator!!! 😡 The highlight of Floyd's motivation was at Lochore Meadows Canicross race where he got 2nd place with fellow canifitter Eilidh Robinson in their age group! To say I was over the moon was an understatement! Floyd then got back to class the following day at Monday night Strathy class with my friend Malcolm. I got back into horse riding the same day, after a very long break!!! Unfortunately Floyds motivation was not to last and he took unwell later that week. After a night in the vets with lots of meds he was allowed out the day of the canifit christmas lunch which i had to miss 😩 we need to reschedule another motivational day out!! On Christmas Eve my boy had to be taken to the Vet School. After scans, X-rays and lots of needles it is thought he has a virus or severe gut infection and was ordered complete rest with lots of antibiotics and anti inflammatories. One week on and Floyd is slightly better but a long way to go. He's still being a wee trooper but won't be running for a good few weeks. My ankle still hurts but hey ho, I need to start moving more. My plan is to start some short runs on solid ground to see how I go, combined with some gym classes and riding. I have missed class and all the fun so much!! We will be fit for rough dugger and the Canifit experience!!! It was great to see how well everyone was doing on the winter motivator, the team sure came together to help each other along. Some of the effort put in was amazing!! Everyone has been so lovely throughout my injury and Floyd's illness. We are so glad to be part of this big team! So 2015 is only a few hours away! I'm volunteering at Pollok Parkrun in the morning then meeting the gang on the 2nd! Here's to a happy, healthy, Canifit year! Bring it on, we WILL dae it!! Claire and Floyd
Letitia Aitken:
Hi folks,
Final blog and I would love to write something really witty and smart but I'm just going to be me.
When I started this way back I didn't know what to expect or what was expected of me. .... roll on weeks later and this is what I've discovered
I love running with Hamish
The thought of going out in the cold is actually worse than the reality
I am most competitive with myself
I can run 10k under an hour
I can run fairly fast for a couple of miles
But most of all I thrive on the support on others. Everyone's goals are their own and every goal achieved is amazing regardless of distance, speed or quantity
Anyway, enough mush, here are my favourite adventures
Running in the woods in the snow when we had the weather bomb, having a total blast
Managing just over 8min/mile
Face planting because my legs don't go as fast as Hamish
Screaming "Wooo hoooo" in the scooter and then realising you are being watched
Embarrassing the life out my daughter by scootering at the same place she is triathalon training :-D
I've had a ball :-D
I've also managed to push myself outside my comfort zone by booking 1-1 canicross and agility lessons and also a scooter workshop (yikes) Niamh and I have registered for the park runs too.
All that's left to say is a massive Thank you to Lindsay. Without this group I would be going into the new year making resolutions I probably wouldn't keep. Instead I feel healthier, fitter and totally motivated. To all my winter motivator friends, hopefully I'll get to meet up at a class. Good luck with your training
All the best for 2015
Letitia and Hamish ( team aitken)
Shona Smith:
Well last blog I set myself some new goals along with my original goals: -get fitness and distance back up -get 5k under 30 mins -stay injury free -Run a full 5k -get back to the cani-fit classes Isla and myself are proud to say we have been somewhat successful. The journey has definitely not been easy and I had my fair share of lack of motivation but we have trundled on and slowly ticked off every goal. We have been proud to be part of this motivator as within the last three weeks we have done more than I thought we could. It started with a lovely run with Kirsten at Lainshaw where I final found my love for downhills even if Isla is pulling me. I got back to the classes and don't see why I had my doubts about them. As soon as we arrived we were welcome back with open arms and Isla showed us what we were made of by running like a trooper. Also within the last 3 weeks we have completed our first even park run and not just any a Christmas Day park run. 6 months ago I would have laughed if you even said I would be running let alone be excited and tell my parents to hurry up opening the presents so I could go (May have been the thought of an extra mince pie at dinner). I final completed my first ever 5k under the 30 minutes. Left a smile on my face all day. In the Tuesday before the new year I was out again with Kirsten and Sandra and completed a nice slow 5k. What the motivator is actually made me realise is I don't care about the price it's never been about that, it's been about celebrating the victories wither they have been big or small with people with similar feeling. It's helped me realised I just need to set myself small goals every 3-4 weeks to aim for. So for the new year I aim to start off the year the way I want to to go so I'll set my goals for January and then I'm going to go enjoy myself at the new year park run at Eglington. I would like to thank everyone for all the help and encouragement throughout this journey and congratulate you all on the awesome achievements you have been in the last 7 weeks. Isla and myself are so glad I meet such an amazing bunch of people and dogs. Especially Lindsay who devotes her time encouraging us and keeping us going. Once again thanks Shona and Isla x
Tahra Duncan Clark:
Well that was it ! Strangely enough the hardest part I know find is writing the blog entries ?? Glad Lindsay didn't keep them to weekly efforts....
I first heard of Cani-cross on the Simon Mayo radio show, sports you love but don't see a lot of. Mina was just a puppy at the time but it stuck in my head... I bought a roamer leash in February just after Mina turned one but didn't get around to getting her a harness till about June. Which was when I suddenly discovered all the FB groups for Cani-cross; joined the Edinburgh one then realised would never manage any of their regular runs, joined the Fife one got to one meet - up, signed up for the Ruff Dugger then wrecked my leg and did nothing apart from my regular Tae Kwon Do for the rest of the summer.
Mina and I went for a run three weeks before the race and didn't die of shock; I did fall fover the week before the race and banged up my knee..... did theDugger anyway then signed up for Blairgowrie. Went up on my own and survived and somehow in the space of that month I became hooked - I've just tallied up my distance in Runkeeper and roughly I've clocked up 90km since the start of the Canifit Winter Motivator, bloody hell how did that happen ?
Its not all been speedy and not all of it was ran; but the walking has gotten less especially since I seem to have conquered the calf/shin injuries and the "running" has gotten a little bit more consistent.
Since the last blog Mina and I took part in the Lochore Race. Ive been going to Lochore since I was a child but never realised that was a wacking big hill in the middle of it - true to form my legs decided that they couldn't run up it though I did attempt a rather fast walk over most of it. The best part was running down the rather rough field at the end, it was such a blast and I didn't fall over. Nearing the end the lady who had been behind me the whole way decided to do a sprint finish..... hmm I'm just not that competitive yet and was content to still be "running" by the end. When the results came in I thought I was the wooden spoon but there was some clerical rummaging and it made my day when Karen Connal said I was definitely not last and my time was respectable - just over 36mins and fourth last so plenty of room for improvement.
What Have I learned in the last six weeks ? (Thanks Kirsten)
1. I am not a natural runner, but I can manage more than I think I can.
2. My legs and head aren't always in agreement about when to stop.
3.Shin cuffs really do work.
4. I could maybe do with waterproof shoes but I don't shrink in the rain ( never did but never chose to exercise in it voluntarily)
5. I love my dog, which goes without saying and I maybe kindof, a wee bit like running.
6. Mina still hates her harness but she really seems to enjoy it all too.
I never thought six weeks ago that I would be out on a run on Christmas day having been itching to get out for a few hours and I'm seriously thinking of using my Christmas money on new shoes rather than the Boden Sale ??!!
I'm with a lot of the others that I would love to see our wee motivation community continuing as I really don't think I would've done so well without it. The thought of telling others what I was doing too, others who were interested and in the same boat not just friends and family thinking god she's talking about the dog and beach again. Its was grand seeing how well everyone and their four-legged flurries were doing virtually, so much so that really I miss having the chance to do the stairs of doom with you all.
Fingers and paws crossed that I can keep going and get a bit better, at least there's another Dugger to look forward too and my husband and I are going to try and run together in the new year, though I need to go some to keep up with him he's a wee bit out of practice, and of course I have Mina power :)
Tahra & Mina xxx
Gillian Donohoe:
Well, that's It, not only has 2014 come to an end, but so too has Cani Fit Winter Motivator, whats going to keep me going through those dark and dismal January and February days and nights???
Never before have a spent so much time in my gym gear in December, so for that alone, I would like to thank the mind behind the Motivator! Although I may not have managed all that I had set out to do over the last couple of weeks ( that trip to Callander never happened but I'm confident it will before I go back to work) I have achieved more in the last two months than I have over the past year in terms of my fitness and just getting out and being active. Times have improved, distances increased, enthusiasm doubled and doing a lot more mixing it up, so who cares if I didn't quite make my goal of 5k in under 30mins ( well, to be honest, I did yesterday!!) at least I set out to try and achieve it and to be honest, achieved so much more in the process.
When I came along to my first cani Fit session in August, I had no idea what to expect, now I honestly cant imagine not being part of it. Not only have I taken up a new sport that I can enjoy with my dog ( yippee) but I can genuinely say I have met a whole bunch of new friends who are supportive, encouraging and best of all, a right good laugh!
Getting out into the fresh air has been one of the big plus points for me during the Winter Motivator, and I'm surprised at just how much I enjoy being out in the dark , the rain and the cold ( although In saying that, I am looking forward to the light nights and running in my t-shirt!!)
so to look back on my Winter Motivator Highlights for 2014, I have:
Gone on my first solo run with Sadie
Turned my local park into an adventure playground with "mini" stairs of doom
Done hill reps without being forced into them
Swam
Learned how to lift weight properly
Walked for miles
Went to two cani fit classes in one week ( check me out!)
Nearly ran 5k in under 30mins
Signed up for my first race next year
But most of all, I have enjoyed every minute of it, so a big thank you Lindsay for running such a brilliant club that gets under its members skins and makes sure we just all "keep daeing it"
Amy Mclaughlan:
Well, here it is, the last day of 2014 and of winter motivator. This is the toughest blog I've had to write so far so be kind! When I stared to write this I thought I'd have nothing good to say - to the point that I wasn't even going to write it. If you don't have anything nice to say and all that. However, when I looked back at what has/hasn't happened over the last four weeks there were some little gems of awesomeness, so here goes...... So I last left you at my having done 12k (super chuffed) on my quest for increased distance. The weekend after that I had some fun stuff planned - Mighty Mission number 4 for starters! This time Mighty invited everyone along to her local, The Smugglers Trail. It was a fab run, I love that trail and it was great to have everyone's company on it. At last minute though, I also decided to squeeze in a shot at Ayr Parkrun beforehand. This was to be a fatal error on my part. The parkrun was tough, a lot tougher than I had anticipated. It was the first time I had tried to run at any sort of speed for a while and my distance work had absolutely annihilated my pace. My time was really disappointing (for me). I then found the run at the Smugglers hard going, (cos it is hard basically) and the combo of both runs that day being more brutal than I thought was the beginning of a spiral of despair that I am still trying to claw my way out of. So stupid, all I did was have a tough run and a crappy parkrun time but I let it get to me. The day after the Mighty Mission I thankfully had a great run at the Ae Forest class. What a gorgeous place! And the actual class itself was magic - the drills and exercises great fun and wee Mighty loved them. That majorly cheered me up but my legs felt a bit wrecked from the previous few days so I didn't do much else for the rest of the week, apart from the Cani-fit class on the Thursday night. Maybe all was not lost after all! Then the little demon in my head returned: I plunked a canicross race for the first time ever (this is when I realised there was definitely something wrong with me). It was blowin a hoolie when I got up at stupid o'clock to get ready. Took one look out the window, though 'f*ck that' and went back to bed. Decided would just go and run closer to home that day instead. I cannot stress enough how out of character that is for me, I never skip a run. What are the accepted excuses again? Death, injury & divorce? So I put the feelers out to see who was out running closer to home - that ended badly with a friend then absolutely pieing me ('nah, we're not going running' but then she actually did) so I felt pretty p*ssed off and left out on top of my new found despair/laziness. I just took little Mighty out alone that day for a slow steady plod but I enjoyed it, purposefully picked one of my favourite routes and just got on with it, no time counted, no distance measured just a nice muddy run with my wee pal. Dogs don't pie you :-) Monday night I was able to go along to the Strathclyde Park group. They are flippin fast that lot! So I, within seconds, was away at the back behind everyone. There was no tail runner and I didn't know the route so I had no idea how far I had left to go. I quickly began to die on the inside. By the end of the final loop, I had completely lost it. Felt like I was right back to where I started 18 months ago. That night I began seriously considering hanging up my running shoes. Total, disgusting self pity. This had to be nipped in the bud! Had a 1:1 with Lindsay on the Wednesday night in the hope of getting my ass booted into touch. The run was hard, I wanted to barf at points, Mighty was trailing me round at nearly a 7 minute mile, she was flying, I was dying. Then she comedy frog-leaped a puddle and Suko did a massive burp and I was peeing myself laughing again. Dogs always manage to cheer you up. Since then all I've done is the final two cani-fit classes of the block and one run with Mighty and my sister's dog Alfie. It was good, a fast 1.8 mile loop just to let Alfie have a wee try before his first bikejor class in a couple weeks. He enjoyed it, he was trying to block Mighty and dominate her a little on the narrow trails but she was having none of it, she was like 'eh this is my turf pal, no one overtakes me' so they made me laugh a lot. I am hopeful that the few fun runs I have planned for the rest of this week will help me on my quest to win my mojo back. So the moral of this rather depressing tale? I might be in a bit of a rubbish place in my head with my running, but there have been some great parts of the last few weeks for me to focus on. Mighty Missions, Ae Forest adventures, puddling jumping, burping, Mighty and her love of overtaking- all little things that put a smile on my face when looking back over a difficult month. All is not lost! My little Mighty pal (and the others, you know who you are) have seen me through - 2015 can bring it on! What I have enjoyed most throughout this motivator is seeing everyone else progressing - folk smashing distance and time targets, finding other ways to exercise despite being injured, finding a love for swimming they didn't know existed, encouraging each other on the most rubbish days and cheering each other on on the best days. I've enjoyed watching my own wee beginners group build up to a few regular faces - future stars I hope! So despite how I'm feeling in myself, I know the cani-fitters are flying the flag. You guys don't need a motivator anymore, you can dae it all by yourselves!
Freya Kennedy:
Well, final blog of the canifit winter motivator and i can actually state for the record I enjoy running. I used to always say i only ran cos Lindsay made me but I actually have found I quite enjoy it all by myself, with friends, in rain, sleet, dark or -6!
I was pretty cynical about the winter motivator, I do these things to support canifit and my buddies, but I actually got pretty motivated. It started with a little run up a big hill myself...I never ran by myself! I then went on to lots of runs with just me and my dogs (or boy and bike too), weekly swimming, I joined a gym for a weekly pilates class and generally got fitter and enjoyed myself in the process.
But the most important thing was watching others who hadnt been cani-fitting as long as me discovering the joys of canicrossing and the ability to run in the dark, wind, rain etc! I have no idea how anyone can chose a winner as i dont think anyone ended up doing this for a prize, it just became about realising that no matter what kind of day, week, weather, excuse....just get out and "dae it" (with my non scottish accent i sound so wrong saying that), you will enjoy it, you will feel better for it and ultimately your dogs will have a blast which is why we get out in all weathers!t
Freya and the spaniels!
Sandra Taylor:
Week 5+ final blog, wow just look back how far have we all come :)
Week 5 let's think, so long ago, another fantastic class and with some key members missing, but was great to see newcomers braving the elements and starting there own cani-fit journeys :.
I planned to join the mighty mission but family life took over which left me too late to join, so I set off on a solo dug less run as mostly road with a few hills and a rather muddy trail with small river, was over the moon as tackled my furthest run and managed 7.01km under 45 mins :D hitting one of my #canifitwintermotivator aims of increasing my distance :D
Manic Mondays at our house have me struggling to get out so I push myself by doing a fitness DVD insanity, tonight the kids were under my feet wee baby james trying it out ;)
Week 6
Wow weather this week was scary as.
I missed class this week due to having no car, my daughters review at the famous rangers club clashed :( On a plus side she u12s team next season :) Anyway boosting done I was stranded in Kilmarnock and couldn't face "the big blue bus" Off I went on a run (till Jim picks me up mode), covered 8.01 km my furthest yet again :)
A lot of my runs recently have been dogless, due to the family's busy schedule I'm fitting runs around xmas chao's but proud to say still "just daeing it".
I was working an extra shift Saturday so to squeeze in a run we headed out with derri, great to have my buddy on board again. Had kids too so headed over our wee park and did some laps, no idea of distance or time just ran for fun, I enjoyed this run no goals no nothing just us
Doing great then hit my big 30 birthday whoop too much pampering, OK OK more too much BAD stuff diet wise and no enough time :) lame excuse I know but Sunday and Monday were complete write offs :( Plus side birthday brought some new running clothes and road trainers :) yipee.
Wednesday was another solo run, missing two classes in a row is not good for the mind or body, classes defo help keep up motivation.
Week 7
Xmas count down well and truely on, empty bank accounts, cupboards full with Santa's goodies and mega hyper kids, Defo a reason to get out and run, run away from it lol, but serious busy sceduals planning my weeks from now and writing it in calendar is how I got time to run.
Managed out this Monday first monday in weeks and met up with Lynne and Harvey at eglinton park, Ayrshire had some bad floods this day and eglinton park was no different, at one point Lynne even said it was bit like ruff dugger, I enjoyed the company and a fast wet and muddy run :)
Early class this week on tuesday instead of Christmas day (thank god) lol, I loved it this week good fast run but noticed I was only only sent on hill reps :( Lindsay's went soft on you all at Christmas lol, mince pie after run was delicious, thanks Lindsay.
Week 8. Final week of blogging
This week I have had my highest moment of the motiator , an aim was to increase my distance hoping to get to 10k, this aim was smashed on boxing day when I took part in a charity run at dundonald castle in aid of a local charity Chloe's chemoo cows. This run was by far my hardest route ever can only describe it as total hills, when I heard I'd completed it in 1hr 2mins 45secs I was over the moon :).
With little work, no school and no kids clubs we have loads of fun out and about without our normal rush, Kelsey my daughter even had a go at cani crossing with the pro of the family derri :) think derri enjoyed jogging with Kelsey as it got her out of some hill sprints.
This has been a fast and brill month, I've kept up the running which to be honest with stressing of xmas its helped keep me sane, well as close as I'll ever be lol.
Im now looking forward to events in 2015 loads to look forward too, calendar filling up fast with cani cross events, my first ruff dugger and 2nd cani-fit experience race all in one weekend :)
I can't believe this the end of the cani-fit winter motiavtor , I have loved having the support and nudges to keep going over the hardest part of the year, big thank you to every one, massive thank you to cani-fit, my first year as a cani-fitter has been fantastic :)
All the best for 2015
Sandra and Derri
