Asteroids Post Mortem

This is what I finally completed. When the ship lives reach 0, the game ends. But I want to try to change the enemy into a spaceship, and then the enemy can launch attacks. In this way, we should not only avoid collision with the enemy, but also avoid the enemy's attack. I also hope to use the mouse to operate my spaceship instead of using the arrow keys to control the spaceship. However, there are some problems that have not been solved, asteroid games may not be very good, so I'll continue to improve the game after consulting the teacher in workshop.

Asteroids Elevator Pitch

Asteroid games are familiar to most of us. We played similar games when we were young. Although I don't remember the name of the game, it's still interesting for players to control a plane to avoid attacks and shoot down enemies. This kind of game tests the reaction ability of players, and is also challenging. Especially when there are more and more enemies and the attack is more and more intensive. This simple but challenging game can still attract players.

GDevelop Experimentation

In week 2, we learned how to use GDevelop to create a platform game (although it is very simple). Through the direction keys to control the movement of characters, space jumping (some basic operations).

There are also ways and logic similar to writing code to set specific conditions. For example, if I want to run, the first judgment condition is that I am on the ground, and then I use the direction keys to move him. Finally, the character can run. As a programmer, this is very attractive to me (because it is similar to writing code and conforms to the logic of writing code).

Week 2

The first prototype I will be making in IGB220 is a platformer game. But I have no experience in other platform games except playing Mario. In order to attract players to play games, the design should be player-centred. At present, I don't know what kind of platform game I want to make. Maybe I want to make a different game. After all, most platform games are very similar. Only by making games different from others can it attract players to play.

I want to make a Parkour platform game. Set the time limit and obstacles, and the player must run to the end within the limited time. Many players are tired of a game because the game is not challenging, playable or too difficult. I want to use the time limit function to encourage players and attract them to go through customs. But I won't set too difficult levels, otherwise, the player may try several times and find it too difficult to continue the game. But I don't know if I can realize it. Introduction

Hi, my name is Xiaoran Hu(Sky) and I'm studying for a Bachelor of IT which major is computer science. It's my second unit about the game study. Even though I'm a game player and have some experiece in FPS, MMO and action role-playing game such as LOL, Destiny 2 and Genshin Impact, I'm a rookie in game design. I think it's hard to create what I really want to use GDdevolp, but I'll do my best to create a good game in this unit.
