Okay I can’t even joke about how ridiculous that comment is. I spent the majority of my life absolutely hating my dad because my mom told me these horror stories about how awful he was, how abusive he was. That the cops had to force him to leave the house. He tried to kill us. He never wanted us. We were all products of non-consenting sex. Oh, but bless her heart for taking care of all 6 of us all these years. She loves us so much and sacrificed it all for us. Despite it being all drama all the time. But there was always a good reason for it, according her. It was never really her fault.

Fast forward to the last six months. Turns out, according to the last few of her boyfriends, her parents and siblings, and my dad, she was the one who caused all sorts of problems, kept secrets, cheated how many times in every relationship, made her kids help her pick up the mess and always found a way to lie her way out of punishment. She lied enough to reshape our childhood memories and believe our dad was a monster. I had my whole life with my dad ripped away from me because she wanted to do whatever she wanted with no consequences. And dads are so easy to blame. Moms are never at fault. The evil men always hurt the innocent women. It’s never the other way around.

Fuck your idea that abusive moms are only burnt out. She was a mess and should never have had kids. She made me and my sisters go through so much. She would pit us against each other and then use our trust in her against us. We were her parents sometimes, her best friend other times, and absolute burdens the rest of the time. Don’t tell me that’s excusable. Don’t start.
