MASSIVE MASSIVE TW FOR DEATH. IT IS JUST A DREAM BUT IT IS VERY MUCH THERE.
It was a nice day out, no clouds covering the sky and no annoying bugs picking on anyone.
David, Angel and Gabby were in the front yard. Angel was in a lawn chair keeping an eye on Gabby, David was doing some seasonal flower planting and Gabby was playing with the various toys that she had in the yard.
One of Gabby's balls began to roll, it was a game to her; how fast can she catch the ball before it hit the street. This time her ball kept going, she stood up and waddled over to where her ball was going.
"Gabby baby, stay in the grass," Angel said softly. "Come see what daddy is doing." They nodded towards David as he wiped some sweat from his brows. Gabby giggled and quickly waddled to where her father was. She sat next to him, looking at the flowers with wide eyed curiosity.
After watching David plant for a moment to long she remembered her ball. Gabby stood back up and walked over to her toys, keeping an eye on her ball.
It was in the middle of the street.
Gabby stood at the edge of the lawn, looking back between her father, Angel had gone inside to get some waters, and the street. She whined softly and stepped into the street.
She walked to the middle of the street, not looking at anything other than her ball that sat so perfectly still in the road. She didn't even see the car driving well past the normal neighborhood speed limit.
Davids head perked up, it had been a minute since he heard Gabby's voice while she played. He stood up, looking at where she should be. He didn't see her there, he was her on the road with a car driving towards her.
Time felt so slow in that moment, yet it wasn't, everything went so fast. David called out her name and ran as fast as he could towards her. He had to physically stop himself from shifting, he couldn't break covert. He picked her up and dived, covering her in the process so she didn't get hurt when he rolled into the other side of the street. The car barely missed them as it drove.
Gabby's ball popped, loudly, causing everyone on the street to come outside to see what happened. David panted, holding Gabby so close to his chest. Angel rushed outside and ran to where David was.
"Davey! Davey are you ok? Is Gabby ok?" They knelt down, to where he was. David nodded, staring intensely at the flattened ball on the road. That could've been his daughter. That could've been his innocent girl. Angel helped him stand up, holding one of his hands.
They spent the rest of the day inside, Gabby had plenty of inside toys anyways.
He was too slow. His reaction time wasn't fast enough and when he stood up he listened to the sound of a thud and a pop. He looked at the road and there she was, bloodied and broken. His babygirl, broken beyond repair. Her dress st-
David woke up with a gasp. He was sweating head to toe. Air wasn't coming as easily as it should and he laid there in bed, shaking and trying to take in breaths that simply weren't cooperating. Angel felt the shift and woke up.
"Davey?" The mumbled, rubbing their eye. "What's wrong?" They rubbed his arm with a knuckle in case he didn't want to be touched. That feeling somehow grounded David, allowing him to breath easy again.
"Where's- Where's Gabby?" He panted, his inner wolf was pacing, needing to be let out just to know if she was ok.
"She's fast asleep. Why? Did you have a nightmare? Was it about earlier today?" They sat up, stretching slightly. David just nodded, clawing at the blanket to stop himself from shifting.
"I'm gonna go get her ok? Just so you can see that she's ok." Angel got out of bed, placing a kiss onto the bridge of his nose. "I'll be back handsome." They said walking out of the room quietly.
David sat up, pulling his hands on his face. His inner wolf was running, making his core flare up. He growled under his breath and quickly pulled his clothes off (minus his underwear, that stayed on), shifting under a moments notice.
He stretched and hopped back on the bed, circling to find the best spot. Yet without Angel he couldn't get comfy. His mate walked into their room carrying their sleeping daughter in their arms a second later.
"Well hello there handsome." Angel whispered in a baby tone. David rolled his eyes, sitting on his side on the bed. Angel sat on their side and David managed to find the perfect spot. Angel carefully set Gabby on his fur, pulling the blanket up so they were both warm.
David nuzzled her, pressing his cold nose into her cheek like a kiss. Gabby snuggled into the warmth that was his fur, smiling slightly in her sleep.
David gave Angel a look that said 'thank you', Angel just nodded and kissed his forehead.
"You're welcome David, I love you."
David couldn't respond, but if he could he would say that he loved them more and that he's grateful for them.
