I mean, yeah, Channing Tatum isn't the best Gambit actor we've ever had and there are things that could've been worked on a little more but dude, body shaming? Being nasty and calling him ugly? Sure, he's not your cup of tea looks wise but I thought we- as fans- were better than this.
There are better ways to say you don't like something/how someone was portrayed or adapted and not be rude about it.
I don't think it's wrong to comment on an actor's appearance when discussing casting. Looks are literally part of the job.
If I think an actor is unattractive, I'll say that. If I think their face is too chubby for the character, I'll say that too. And if a costume makes it look like they don't even have a neck, I'm going to point that out as well.
None of that is "body shaming" to me. It's my opinion on whether someone is physically convincing in a role. You're free to disagree, but I'm not going to pretend appearance suddenly becomes off-limits just because we're talking about a real actor.
As for the "being nasty" part... I don't really care if you think my opinion sounds rude. I'm not trying to win points for being nice, and I'm not interested in living up to someone else's idea of what a "good fan" is supposed to be.
I'm not "better than this" or "worse than this." I'm just a person giving my honest opinion.

What do you think of Channing Tatum as Gambit in Avengers: Doomsday?
I don't like him at all. He doesn't fit the character. He's ugly, and I don't know... his face just looks kinda chubby, like he doesn't even have a neck. He doesn't have the vibe or a single feature I associate with Gambit. I'm actually glad they didn't give him Gambit's beautiful red-and-black eyes. That visual marker of his mutation is sacred. An actor has to earn that by actually looking and feeling like Gambit.
Soooo fucking yes, his beautiful red-and-black eyes are sacred, not for just anyone!!!!!
Hard agree.

The best Gambit is the modern Gambit
Thank you for sharing your incorrect opinion with the class.
Classic Gambit had agency. Modern Gambit is just Rogue’s romantic prop.
