I’m back
I’m trying to limit the amount of time I spend here because this website can suck you dry and it’s not a very positive environment to be in 90 percent of the time lol
Like…this place is chock full of really vindictive people?? It’s really poisonous and there’s usually little room for error or mistakes. They’re so quick to turn their back on you when they find that there’s something about you that they don’t agree with.
A couple years ago this place was a lot more forgiving and they were more willing to correct or help you out if you made a mistake, but it’s not like that anymore. Despite what Tumblr wants to believe, the world really isn’t that black and white…but they act like it is and it makes you feel like your head’s on a chopping board most of the time.
Regardless of what they say, it’s not a very inclusive space - it’s actually quite selective, and even if you ARE included in this space there’s still something “problematic” or not right about you.
There’s an emphasis on pointing out flaws - but only if you’re not widely liked by the population. If you even dare to try to point out a flaw in one of their idols you can bet you’ll have a million anons in your ask box or insulting text posts and memes centered on you - which is weird because this place is so adamant on preventing bullying or pitting people against each other. They give a whole new level to the phrase “putting it on a pedestal”.
And politically-wise most of this website falls on the extreme left side of the spectrum - which isn’t bad if you really know what you’re talking about (but not a lot of Tumblr bothers to do the research and they base their knowledge on what they see here) - but they carry it out in really horrible ways that contradict their beliefs and it’s sickening to watch.
While I’m sure most of them have good intentions, some of the stuff I’ve seen on this website is downright disturbing and it makes me realize that I’d rather put up with the bullshit outside this website.
I’m also like 99 percent sure this website is the reason why my apathy has soared into dangerous levels lol like the horrible ways people have handled important issues here have made me so indifferent and that’s not good - I should be caring about things but I just don’t anymore and I have to find a way to remedy that
Idk what I’m getting at anymore tbh
Tldr this website sucks and it’s not healthy and it’s not as enjoyable as it used to be so I’m gonna get a dog and go outside and enjoy the sun instead
I haven’t been on in a while, but I decided to log back in for the hell of it and I stumbled upon 22 drafts of miscellaneous posts regarding clothing, productivity, etc. I ended up finding this post as well, including the lengthy tags I added over two years ago. I’ll leave my old tags unaltered on this as I can tell the kind of impact Julz’s departure had on me. As stated in the tags, Julz was one of the first blogs I ever followed in 2010 due to a mutual love for Kingdom Hearts and they were looked up to as a very loving older sibling figure within the KH community. It was actually the KH RP community that acted as the catalyst to my time on Narutumblr and beyond, paving the way for some of the best times of my life.
While obviously I’ve had periods of inactivity on this website (and am about to have a prolonged, most likely permanent, hiatus) I feel like what was said in this post is still relevant today. Not all of this is applicable to every single blogger, but there are certainly trends on this website that are frankly toxic. I am in no mood nor position to argue about the sanctity of Tumblr, these are merely my final thoughts on this site as I piggyback off of someone from the beginning of my Tumblr life. It’s kind of poetic, I suppose. If leaving a social media site can be considered as such.
Despite my infrequency the past few years, I still love and cherish my followers, though the majority of you are strangers as I am to you. Thank you for being here; I would’ve never expected having so many people care about the pretty pictures I reblog or my general unoriginality.
I will always be indebted to this site for the bonds it helped me form with people who I still love deeply despite our growing lack of communication. They still consist of the greatest and closest friends I’ve ever had and my time with them will always be cherished. I don’t know if I would be able to create such strong relationships on this site now, but I don’t think I would want to. When I think of Tumblr, I treat it synonymously with the years of joking, skyping, RPing, crying, and loving during a time when I needed people to help me grow. Thank you thank you thank you to those who fall under this group, you know who you are, all of you are still so so lovely and near and dear to me, no matter how garbage I am at keeping up with you (please help me fix that).
As I near the end of this final post, I want to apologize for the length. I wasn’t anticipating typing out so much, but as I put my thoughts down more continued to escape and I felt I couldn’t stop without sharing just a tad bit more. I guess I also wanted to leave on a bit of a lighter note. While I still support what Julz said, I have too many very old but very nice memories from here and I am not vindictive towards this site, nor those who still use it. There is just a subtle sadness, a little perpetual rain cloud drizzling for what things had been and what they could have been.
It’s time to no longer live in the past, but continue to remember and cherish. I am not going to deactivate my account simply for the sake of maintaining all that had been, not unlike a shoebox of old pictures collecting dust in an attic. This whole thing may have come off as melodramatic, and if so, I’m sorry. If you read all the way to here, then this is my final thank you for sticking around with me, even when you forgot I existed after not posting for years. I know I did not properly convey how much this site and its users meant to me from 2010-2014, but know that it was enough for me to type this chunk out to strangers.
If you’d like to keep up with me on things I’m active on, I usually go by mcjewgs or eggbaum.
I love you all, goodbye.

What is honor compared to a woman’s love? What is duty against the feel of a newborn son in your arms … or the memory of a brother’s smile? Wind and words. Wind and words. We are only human, and the gods have fashioned us for love. That is our great glory, and our great tragedy.

[What about your fear of spiders—do you kill them?] No, I hate killing anything. I can’t bear it. They’re probably more scared of me than I am of them. I have to get someone to move them. [What would you do if you and an equally scared woman were in a room with a spider?] I’d just tell the girl to kill the spider. Women have far more backbone than men anyway.

“Please.” He fell to his knees. “A sword, that’s all I ask. Let me die as Theon, not as Reek.” Tears trickled down his cheeks, impossibly warm.
