Ah... so that's the problem.

Sinclair can't really fault him for it. He honestly had a bit of a fright when he realized Hohenheim wasn't there anymore, but... apparently it just happens sometimes. People come, people go, and no one really knows why.

It's kind of... scary. It makes him want to hold the connections he's made, as few as they are, tighter.

"Mhm... Yeah.... Hohenheim is gone too. And so is Dante and Faust." He twiddles his thumbs a bit. "... I'm glad you're still here though. A-and... I'm still here too." It's a shallow sentiment, but he hopes it means something.

Sinclair huffs a bit in exhaustion, slowing his exercises to a crawl and then a full stop, taking Lei Heng's momentary distraction as a chance to try and shake the stiffness out of his hands. He's pretty proud of the progress today, and it's around the time they usually wrap up anyway.

Usually it's Sinclair that's getting told to get out of his head and focus on the moment, so it's a little odd to see Lei Heng forgetting his train of thought for once.

"Did I know- huh? Hm." Sinclair pops his knuckles, sighing in relief when that alone is enough to ease the pain in his hands. "... Is something on your mind? You seem a little distracted today."

He bites on his cigar, unlit and too early in the morning to enjoy it. After all there was a full day ahead of doing work, and then a nice long hot bath afterwards.

"Absolutely nothing." Which really should've been the end of the conversation. But Mélusine continued, only stopping him in the first place because of one simple inquiry.

Still, the girl was curious, and perhaps if this was the city he would have been more on edge, but this is not and there is no reason to raise his weapons against her for now.

Lei Heng voice is distracted, despite training today going swimmingly well. Perhaps he was thinking of something for quiet a while now, but it seems nothing has changed. Though his suit did look a bit cleaner then it was before, the power of dry cleaning.

Smoke came from his cigar in big puffs, covering nearly the entirety of his own face. The small light that came from the end the only point where anyone could see that he still existed above the neck, like some smoke monster.

Another good smoke break.

She sizes up the man for a good couple of seconds, glances to the side to see an officer across the street, then figures it's not worth the trouble to pick a fight in front of the law.

She pulls out an old matchbox that looks like it came out of the 1880s, strikes a match and lights the cigar, then puts out the match by blowing it out.

"There. You happy?" He probably is, the jerk. It'd make her want to go for her own cigar. That is, if her own vice were also tobacco instead of coffee and root beer.

"Ahuh. No fuss no problems. " The cigar looked expensive, and so did his velvet suit. Everything about him looked expensive save for the man himself, who had the face of someone who came from lower class. Like giving pearls to the pigs, they can't remove the toughness and crass of his own status.
