it's so interesting how everyone has their own idea of who you are. it's just funny because when i think about all of the nuance in my expression with fashion and stuff, i forget that most people will lump it all into one big label of Emo. same thing with music taste: whenever i start to talk about my favorite music (or even what style of music i make) with someone i have to just say i mainly listen to/make "alternative" music because it's not like i'm gonna go super in depth about subgenres with someone who has no idea what i'm talking about. however, i am lucky to live in a city in which there is a rich music scene and alternative community, because regardless of my shitty experiences in high school when i felt like nobody "got" me, there was always the local scene where i felt like my individuality was celebrated. but like. my coworkers still be saying shit like Yo ur that goth chick. (me when im not goth in any aspect whatsoever) #thoughts
