I still somehow like these drawings half a year later??!! Like, man I was on such a high for this movie when it came out, I guess they are special to me for that reason? Lets just call this a “Throwback Thursday” post I guess. ~~
I’ve been realizing lately that I upload much of my work in a too haphazard way? (sometimes only photos / not even scanning) I’m going to work on posting my work in a nicer fashion from now on…

Galactic Standard Time Measurement
60 Seconds = 1 minute
60 minutes = 1 hour
24 hours = 1 day
Galactic Standard Calendar
5 days = 1 week
7 weeks = 1 month
35 days = 1 month
368 days = 1 year
10 months + 3 Fete (Festival) weeks + 3 holidays = 1 year
Fete/Festival Weeks
New Year Fete Week = first five days of the new year (takes place before the first month)
Festival of Life = five days between the sixth and seventh months. It was marked by parties, get-togethers, and gift-giving.
Festival of Stars =five days between the ninth and tenth months of the year that celebrates interstellar space travel. It was marked by vacations to other worlds most often.
Days of the Week
Primeday (first day of the week)
Centaxday (second day)
Taungsday (third day)
Zhellday (fourth day)
Benduday (fifth/last day of the week)
The Galactic Standard Calendar is based on the luno-solar calendar of Coruscant (from before the official founding of the Empire). It is the ‘standard’ in both the Republic and the Empire for basic measurements. However, there are many, many variations for various species, planets, etc. This is just the ‘standard’ used; similar to measurements of weight, etc.
Basically, this is not the ‘only calendar’ but the one used most often by governments, the military, etc. to be the ‘standard’. I thought it might be useful for people writing or roleplaying in the Star Wars galaxies to have a rough idea.
NOTE: There is mention in some sources of a 12 month/368 day calendar, but it doesn’t mention length of weeks, months, etc. other than ‘30-31 days’ so basically seems to be a ‘real life calendar’. I’m not 100% sure which is considered ‘canon’ so I choose to list the one that was a bit more ‘different’ for fun.

OMG
Ghost Padme is wearing neither the clothes she died in nor the clothes she was buried in, which can only mean one thing Padme Amidala brought her wardrobe with her to the afterlife, because wearing the same outfit for eternity was to her a fate worse than death
okay i saw this comment and im screaming and have to reblog again

Impressive. Most impressive.
i love that when poe says “that droid has a map that leads straight to luke skywalker” finn says “oh you gotta be kidding me”, implying he knows exactly who luke is and that he’s important. i love that when finn mentions luke to rey she says “luke skywalker??? i thought he was a myth” implying she knows exactly who luke is and that he’s important. i love that luke skywalker is a legend, a myth, a celebrity. do you think he has fans
I like to think that not only is he famous but that because he’s so elusive he’s actually reached cryptid status in the star wars universe. people host parties when a new blurry photograph comes out, get into debates over whether he really exists or not, skywalker-sighting hotspots are full of tourists and conspiracy theorists wearing shirts with a lightsaber on that say ‘I want to believe’ in block capitals.
there’s a popular show where three guys run around the deserted places on various planets that have reported “Skywalker sightings”
it’s mostly just them interviewing crazy yokels who claim they saw Luke Skywalker eating leaves somewhere then going out in the dark and scaring themselves shitless claiming they hear lightsaber noises
Leia hasn’t missed an episode since it began airing
Categorizing this under ‘ridiculous SW headcanons I live for’
Like you wouldn’t have faked it to get out of Luke Skywalker’s way.

Male Twi’leks
All right, all right! Female Twi'leks have way fewer redesigns through the years and in media, so I’ve drawn the two main and most important ones: the original design from Return of the Jedi and the new design we got in the Prequels. I’m going to cover only movie- and cartoon-Twi'leks in the illustration and will leave my small headcanon at the very end.
Additional notes:
RotJ: It’s…bulky. It’s pretty obviously a big soft-ish hat that someone’s wearing, so there’s a significant amount of room between the actor’s head and the alien’s head. It has a really odd appearance if you take the head-dress away. That said, they do have a cone-head, and they might have a light crest, but given that their head-dress covers that portion entirely, it may or may not be there. The lekku are seated high slightly above and behind the ears – this position is pretty consistent with all female Twi'lek designs. The lekku, themselves, are large, or “fatty”, at the base, and then taper from there. They also point outwards a bit, which makes them extend significantly past the sides of the head.
Prequels and Beyond: In the prequel trilogy we got Aayla Secura, Ayy Vida, Lunae Minx, and a handful of other female Twi'leks. The cone-head is still there but instead of extending vertically, it extends more towards the back of the head; from a head-on view, we don’t see the cone-head at all. They do have a light but pretty defined crest, which I’ll link to Aayla from the film, from the Clone Wars cartoon, and a painting (NSFW link). The lekku are seated high, just as the “classic” one, but they are way more streamlined, don’t have a fatty base, and grow more back than to the sides.
KOTOR: These follow the Prequel design but simplify the shape a little. They still have a cone-head but are missing the crest from what I can tell. It likely would’ve been difficult to read given their graphics.
SWTOR: These look similar to the prequels but are missing the cone head and crest. Also, BT1 (“body type”) Twi'leks’ lekku sit on the regular high position, while BT2-4 sit at a more medium level, similar to the males.
TCW & Rebels: TCW only really sculpted Aayla Secura to have a defined head-shape (crest & cone), and also defined lekku. The other Twi'leks in this show have pretty thick lekku but not any defined base. Suu Lawquane in particular has very fatty lekku that are pulled back via a head-dress, and compared to other examples have the least defined shape to them. The female Twi'leks in Rebels have similar lekku to the ones in TCW, but they also grow out away from the head a good distance before draping down.
Darth Talon: It purely depends on who’s drawing her, but a lot of images of her from comics have her lekku sprouting right out of the top of her head, defying gravity entirely. I’d personally call that a total exemption to the typical design since I don’t recall seeing any other Twi'leks that look like that.
Lastly, my head-canon. Feel free to ignore this part because it’s not canon whatsoever! It’s my theory that female Twi'leks are capable of possessing much more defined crests, larger cone-heads, and even sporting fatty deposits on their foreheads – it could be genetic, hormonal, or environmental, but there is a fair amount of art from the former EU (aka “Legends”), that has female Twi'leks with this appearance.
