A Song of Wet and Dry Food.
The artist of our cover, Michael Sweater, also submitted a fantastic little five page story about an alien desperate to help us, and finds a best friend in the process. These are the first images of the comic released and Milk & Honey will be the first time available to everybody’s little eyes. But soon after, it will appear in VICE, a media portal and magazine. Support us and you support growing artists.
@pleasedestroycomics will be using his comic created for our Kickstarter in @vicemag. Support Us to help support more artists.Â

Hello Hello! Thank you for checking out Milk & Honey Kickstarter. Milk & Honey is an anthology series I began just this past year. This issue marks the second in an on-going series. The beginning was little more of an experiment that I put together last summer, with a great collection of friends. What few copies I could afford to print out, I passed around at Small Press Expo @spx in Bethesda, MD last September. You can download and read it online for free here.Â
The goal of this Kickstarter is to be able to produce a larger quantity of physical copies of our second volume, Milk & Honey Issue Two. If we make our funding goal, we plan to print around 500 - 700 copies, and distribute them throughout THE WORLD! With your help, we can begin to create a regular flow of content in the form of short stories and comics. We hope that the support of this crowdfunding will give us room to grow, explore themes, Â and create discussion for modern social issues. We also strive to provide interesting interviews with professionals of the graphic arts, cartooning, and other industries where comics can help make its business more interesting.
Milk & Honey Anthology Issue Two is a forty page stable bound magazine edited by Giancarlo D’Alessandro @captaindoghaus, and  features comics and illustrations by the following:
Mike King (@pleasedestroycomics Please Keep Warm)
Che Ebrahim (@pupscomic)
Liz Bolduc (Liz Sucks Comics @lizsux)
Rachel Dukes (Mixtape Comix @mixtapecomics)
Michael Muller (Heavy Breakfast)
Andrew Guojun Unwin (Portfolio)
Guy Thomas (@spiralkingcomics)
We also have interviews with:
Emily Sauter (@pintsandpanels)
Jared Weiss (@jareddweiss)
Jesse Mead is a wonderful weirdo and one of the first cartoonists friends I meet that helped launch me into the amazing world of indie comics. In our first test issue, which you can download and read here, Jesse premiered a chapter of his series, Black River. His fantasy landscapes of woods and mountains are top notch. Baby Knife is another little series of shorts that take place in this world, following a wall flower mercenary on a journey. It is charming and a very nice abstract side of Jesse’s work. He recently finished these two pages I am adding last minute to the book. Consider it a little teaser.
@jessemadea, reining champ and in our first issue, returns with this little teaser comic. We still have one week of our Kickstarter of 40+ page with 10+ collaborators. We still have a week of preorder time available. Please check it our and support and share about Milk & Honey.Â
Happy International Women’s Day! (Not that our women collaborators need a special day for celebration) Emily lives in Connecticut and work at a brewery as communications manager. She also is a Certified Cicerone® and a BJCP Recognized Judge. So let it be know that she knows what she’s talking about when it comes to craft beer. A graduate from cartooning school, CCS, her passion for beer is only meet with her love of comics, and she has merged the two seamlessly in her beer review series called Pints & Panels. It is my absolute honor to be interviewing my friend about her work, and how her sequential one page reviews about beer goes beyond the traditional. She also has an exciting book coming out soon called Beer is For Everyone.
@pintsandpanels is our main feature in this upcoming issue of Milk & Honey, be the first to check out the whole thing by supporting our Kickstarter!Â

Call To Action! Submissions for Comics Open in Upcoming Anthology!
Hello everybody, my name is Giancarlo D’Alessandro. I am the founder and editor of an anthology zine called Milk & Honey.Â
What Milk & Honey is a semi-regular, independent graphic magazine that features an mix of cartoonists and illustrators from around the world. Often times, this magazine is the first place their work is published. Our blossoming mission is to create an opportunity to aspiring artists to take that amazing step of seeing their work in publication. Each issue we also aim to highlight a note worthy professional in a field where graphics, design, and sequential art are used.Â
The first issue of Milk & Honey can be downloaded and read for free HERE.Â
Our first issue was blessed for contributions from sequential art students, creative hobbyists, and self-employeed cartoonists. We interviewed Stephanie Zuppo, who used Kickstarter to publish the first issues of her horror series, Belchville, VT. A limited quantity was printed and premiered at Small Press Expo this year in September.Â
ANYWAY, We are now working hard to make our second issue even better. Pictured below is a sample of the cover for issue number two, by Mike Sweater  (bless him <3). Our Interview is with Jared Weiss, talented animator and filmmaker.Â
We have two amazing submissions so far, but still need more! We are looking for short stories, exerts or chapters of longer publications, or single page illustrations. Because of our fletching avant-gaurd origins, we still have no theme for this particular issue, but we request that the content be tasteful and maintain a general ‘PG’ to ‘PG-13′ rating.
Format for Submissions
Submission should be between 3-7 pages.Â
Greyscale
Each page should be able to be fitted to 5x8 inches
The estimated Due Date for Submissions is right now at FEBRUARY 15th, 2017, with and estimated publication date of March 2017. Please contact me for submissions or other personal inquires at [email protected].
Our plan is to have a first edition of around 300 to 400 issues printed. A Kickstarter around the beginning of February is planned to be launched to cover artists’ fees and publishing costs.
This is my first time writing one of these out, so if i’m missing something important, or have other questions, please reach me at my Facebook.  Â
