It kind of fucks with me that somebody killed ötzi the iceman because ötzi himself is like whatever but the silent presence of human hands that drew back the string of the bow that shot the arrow that killed him is crazy. the idea that there were various people involved in that situation and while one of them has had his last hours painstakingly reconstructed and studied to no end, the others now only exist insofar that an arrowhead had to get into his shoulder somehow. imagine killing someone and then suddenly your entire existence is only a vague shadow implied by the fact that you killed them. much to consider

You cannot have feminism that polices how women express themselves.

That hyperfem girl is not contributing to misogyny or "male-centred", you view femininity as something men are owed & think that women who choose it are trying to appeal to men. The idea that a woman existing has to be doing it for the eyes of men is inherently misogynistic.

That masc girl is not "riddled with internalized misogyny", not wanting to be feminine does not say anything about femininity. They are not self hateful, they express themselves differently.

Additionally, women who find liberation through sexuality & women who find liberation through modesty.. Neither are misogynistic. Both are living their lives.

The patriarchy is contradictory. You must be this, but not too much. You must wear makeup because it's feminine, but wearing makeup makes you 'fast' and a liar. You can't cover up because it makes you a prude but showing too much makes you a whore. You will be belittled for being feminine because it's "weak" and bad, but if you're masculine/nonconforming in any way you're a gross dyke freak.

Thus, because of the constant push and pull of society's forces, people's idea of what feels liberating to them personally can look entirely different. The important part is that caring more about "appearing" feminist than actually supporting rights and autonomy is performative and harmful.
