this is an issue of conflict of interest where medical research is being skewed by people who will profit from its findings. The study was on the affects of sugary beverages and their link to obesity. While most people are aware that sugar = weight problems (for some people), specific details of how these beverages affect ones body could be beneficial to everyone.
National: health is always a national issue and everyone can benefit from research findings.
local: the scientific community is affected because researchers are forced to falsify information which feels ethically wrong, but they have no choice because the only people who will fund the research are the ones who can profit from the researches findings
Global: again, research findings can benefit everyone
everyday: people purchasing products from the companies funding the research may not spend their money that way if they knew the true results of studies.
