You were exhausted. In fact, that was an understatement. The week had been beyond stressful and you couldn’t fathom why you allowed yourself to get so wrapped up in work that you completely neglected your own health.Â
Actually, that was a lie. You do know exactly why you over worked yourself during the week. The month. Why you stayed up until the early hours of the morning. Why you spent more time at the compound rather than at your own home. Why you drank more coffee than you ever had before.
All because of her.Â
Carol-Fucking-Danvers.
She was amazing, to put it simply. And you felt yourself admiring her more often than you’d care to admit. You were close, you and her. Ever since the day your first met you became inseparable. Practically becoming joined at the hip. She helped you with desk work, telling you stories of space and listening to you rant about your problems. You adored hearing her talk about space. It was a place you could only dream of exploring. The two of you had both spent countless nights at the compound, working and talking and just being together.Â
It was nice.
A welcome past time when you had been working your ass off day in day out.Â
You’d liked Carol for some time now. The way the corners of her eyes wrinkled when she smiled, or the way she’d try to keep a straight face at your god awful puns just made your heart soar and your mind buzz with static.
Yet you were convinced your love was unrequited.Â
Carol never seemed to show you otherwise. Never showed you that she cared for you in any other way than a friend. But the tiny little spark of hope that flickered relentlessly in your chest told you that maybe, just maybe, she felt the same.

“ Coming! “Â
You called, responding to the knocking on the door, however your eyes didn't leave the page of the book you were reading. Though when the knocking came again, this time more frantic, you groaned in annoyance, marking your place and rising to your feet.
“ This had best be impor - oh my! “
Your previously angered words were cut off when you saw Carol, bruised, bloodied and tired, standing in the door way of your home.Â
Ushering her in, you sat her on your couch ad took a minute to assess the severity of her wounds. You had seen her injured before. Though never this bad.
“ What happened? “
You frantically questioned as your fingers lightly pulled at the torn fabric of her suit, apologising quietly at the sharp inhale from the blond.Â
“ Kree. I’m fine, (Y/N). “
Despite her attempts to console you, you were persistent. Shaking your head, you noticed only one wound that was severe enough to need stitches, and you thanked Steve for convincing you to keep a fully stocked medical kit in your house.
“ Looks like it needs stitches. “
The words were mumbled silently from your lips as your concentrated, and you missed the soft gaze Carol sent you as you rose to your feet, coming back a few minutes later with the kit held in your two hands.

A lot of apologies, bandages and blue tinged towels later, you were finally wiping away the last of the blood around Carol’s wounds. She had changed into a pair of your sweats and a loose shirt. The blush on your face when Carol had asked for something more comfortable made Carol realise that she was right. For coming to you out of all people.
“ We’re done . . . “
Your words trailed off as you looked up, only to find Carol already looking down at you. It was silent, for a while. So silent that you swore you could hear the rushing of your own blood in your ears.Â
She had been watching you work, fondness swimming in her eyes. You were so gentle, and cautious with her wounds. Carol couldn’t help but admire your as you stitched the wound that would heal within the next few hours. She couldn’t bring herself to stop you, though.
And as carol looked down at you. At your cheeks which were a soft red. Your stunning, (Y/E/C) eyes that seemed to constantly glow with a warmth that melted her heart. At that moment she realised that she did indeed, return your love.Â
Instead of being scared, worried or nervous about falling for somebody of your kind, she embraced it.Â
“ Kiss me. “
Shocked.
You were completely and utterly shocked at her blunt words. Of course, you had dreamed of this moment but never expected it to be true.
Nervously, you looked down to bite your lip, your heart pounding mercilessly in your chest.
“ Unless you’re scared. “
Jerking your head up, you narrowed your eyes at the woman. You were never afraid to back down from a challenge, and she knew this. The sneaky little devil. She knew exactly what to do to get exactly what she wanted.
So, raising higher on your knees, you snaked one of your hands to rest on the back of her neck, pulling her down to meet your lips in a soft kiss.
Though when her hands trailed down your sides to rest on your waist, you were hit with a bout of confidence, and you nipped at her lips, now winding your arms completely around her neck and gently settling yourself into her lap.
And it was at that moment you knew.
Carol Danvers. Captain Marvel. One of the most powerful beings in the universe. Was yours.
