Boston WTNV Show TONIGHT!!!!!

Hello tumblr! 

My friend had to cancel last minute for going to WTNV with me tonight.

I would like to give his ticket to another fan!

First dibs to people I know off the internet, but I'm pretty sure all of them have tickets already or don't live near Boston.

Doctor Who: The Lady Doctors

At C2E2 last April, my friends and I collaborated to make one of our dream cosplay groups a reality: a full group of genderbent Doctors! Doctor Who is a series that is close to all of our hearts, and naturally, we got to thinking of how the show would be different if the Doctor was a woman. We all picked our favorite Doctor and came up with a genderbent interpretation - it was so incredible to see everything come together!

I have to give a shoutout to these amazing ladies. All of them are so passionate about costuming and fandom, and they really put their hearts into making this group happen. I felt so honored being able to spend the day surrounded by my closest friends, celebrating a series that has done so much for science fiction and geek culture as a whole.

Not to mention being dressed as female Doctors felt so empowering. We had several people come up to us on the convention floor and tell us how inspired they were to see a male cultural icon like the Doctor represented by a woman instead. And that, I think, is one of the highest compliments any cosplayer can receive; that a costume inspired and empowered someone else. It was hugely flattering to hear and I found myself tearing up several times throughout the day.

This was, by far, one of the most amazing cosplay experiences I’ve ever had in my life. I love everyone in this TARDIS!

Progress goes slowly. We have lost some animals to the wilds. Our workshops are sparse. Every dwarf is constantly at work, if not sleeping or eating, but it is not enough. 

We must improve our efficiency before winter comes.

Journal of Monom “The Wise” Agitur, Expedition Leader of The Blanketed Lanterns - Spring, year 201

We have arrived at Akamivom Migrur. My band of farmers and craftsdwarves were eager to settle near farmland and flowing water. Being so close to the ocean worries me, but perhaps we will have the good fortune to gain food from its presence. 

An ideal location to begin digging is not immediately obvious. We clearly have land aplenty for the cattle and for growing outdoor plants, but it will not be safe to live out of doors. The dwarves in my care are a sturdy group, able to work outside for long periods of time, but we have more than comfort to think about. Anything could be here. Wild beasts. Invaders. It is my job to ensure we are safe from these threats.

Tumblr Vanishings and Dwarf Fortress

I have not been on here much recently, one because I forgot my password for a while (whoops) and two because I am so far behind on so many of my fandoms that I really don't want to get spoilers tossed at me. I can blacklist the tag "spoiler," but not everyone tags their posts. So. I've been kind of hiding from tumblr.

I am sort-of-back. I probably won't be reading my dash much due to previously mentioned fear of spoilers for my various fandoms. 

However! A certain very evil person got me back into Dwarf Fortress and I've started a blog to chronicle the progress of this particular expedition. I've wanted to do this before but always end up getting too bogged down in details. I think this time I will just write it from the perspective of one dwarf, and if that dwarf dies (as is quite likely to happen in DF) I will have another dwarf "find the journal" and decide to keep writing. That way I don't get too caught up in all the intricacies of all the dwarves' lives.

I'll re-blog the first few entries here but after that it'll just be on the DF specific blog.

Queer guide to Provincetown?

I can find tons of gay guides, some "lesbian" guides (which mostly point you to the rare women's night at an otherwise gay bar), but what I want to know is--where do the queer folk hang out? The same places? I've never felt especially welcome at the homonormative* male dominated bars and clubs.

*A politics that does not contest dominant heteronormative assumptions and institutions, but upholds and sustains them, while promising the possibility of a demobilized gay constituency and a privatized, depoliticized gay culture anchored in domesticity and consumption" (The Twilight of Equality?, Lisa Duggan 2003)

Does such a thing as a queer guide to P-Town exist?
