Take a deep breath.Ā
I just feel like you're making fun of me, now.
Itās not that bad.Ā
It's a movie about me that starts with a shower scene, Nat. I feel like I should be starting a -- a twitter campaign against it, or something!
Toni hated when he fought with Pepper. Each time she was afraid that this would be the final straw to drive the redhead away. Having someone else to turn to was new.Ā She smiled in relief at the others words. "Well, complete silence would just be boring." Ā Toni tilted her head, and nodded at the sketchbook. āYou gonna draw me like one of your French girls?ā
Stella smiled sheepishly, shrugged one shoulder. "Would you mind terribly? And I resent that comparison -- Jack drowning in the ice? Hits hard to home, Toni." She was teasing, hoping to keep the smile on her friend's face around. "I promise you wont have to take your clothes off if you don't want to," she addded with a wink and a laugh -- she couldn't take herself seriosuly.
Stella nodded. "Using our middle names make sense." She added, a smile when Grace made a quip about reporting for duty.
She gave a soft nod and a small shrug. "He seems to be working through his uh problem with portals from the invasion by being able to control them, and make them himself." She explained.
"We can catalogue the differences. Maybe starting with ourselves?" Stella suggested. "This is new to me too."
Fingers came up to rub at temples briefly; this whole affair was giving Stella a headache, and the visitor wasn't exactly going out of her way to make things go any smoother. She barely refrained from rolling her eyes before speaking.
"Well, starting with the obvious, physical appearence. We don't look the same, or even all that similar besides being blonde. Second, names, since our middle ones don't match up. So, uh; I was born fourth of July, 1919, I went to art school, and when the war started I signed up as a nurse. Your turn."
"The end? Why Captain, thereās yet to be an end⦠But when there is, it will be. It has to be. What about you? What made Stella Rogers decide to hit the sixes with this hero gig?ā
"Funnily enough, I was a nurse at first. Wanted to do my part, make sure our boys could get home safe; but then they say oh, we can take away your asthma and the deafness, and it's an attractive offer. After, just seemed logical. It was fun at times, too, for your argument. So I'll reformulate: has it been fun so far?"
Stella looked over her double. She didn't particularly care if one was stronger or faster. She was immensely strong and fast in her universe and she was confident in that. She gave a small smile in return.
"Sadly no. Also named Stella. My middle name is Gladys. What's your middle name?" She asked curiously.
"Tony was working on a portal invention. Thought that I would be transported in my world, but something went wrong." Stella explained.
Stella furrowed her brow -- did the invasion not happen, wherever Stella-Gladys was from? Or was she from some distant-or-not future? It made Stella's head hurt; what she would give for something easy to punch.
"Stella Grace, reporting for duty," she quipped instead, hiding her discomfort behind that half-phony propaganda poster smile she had perfected during the serum trials. "Shall we call each other by our middle names, then?"
"The Tony here doesn't do well with portals," was all she offered, unwilling to divulge secrets that weren't hers to a stranger but acknowledging the difference between worlds all the same. "We'll see if we can't get you home, though, or at least in contat with yours -- maybe get Strange in on it. In the mean time, do you want to maybe catalogue the differences betweenĀ our universes? Such as -- is this normal, for you? Because this is pretty surreal, if I'm being honest with you."
"Do you know why I became a pilot? For the funĀ of it. Why else would anyone do anything?ā
"Duty? Ambition, necessity; I can think of a few. Fun is a good one, though. And was it fun, in the end?"
Stella chuckled. āThis is definitely a new one.ā She added. It was interesting, in which she and herself in another universe could look different.
Stella regarded her double, calculating. There was no way of knowing who was stronger of the two -- who had more training, whose serum was stronger, if there was even a difference -- but she didn't seem hostile, at least, so she let herself give a small smile, quirk an eyebrow.
"I feel like this is reduntant, but -- Stella Rogers. Any chance you're a Stephanie or a Stacy or a Stevie? It'd make things easier on us. And is there anything in particular that brings you around these parts?"
missfirstavenger started following you
"You know, I've done the whole 'aliens' thing, and I figure nothing can surprise me; but I have to admit -- this is a new one."
"Thanks, again. I donāt want to talk, Ā but..can you stay? And we can just Ā ā¦not talk. Honestly I think if IāmĀ Ā alone Iāll start drinking.ā
She smiled at the other, reaching out to squeeze her knee once. Stella left with another reassuring look to check on Pepper as promised. When she returned, it was with a sketchbook under her arm and two cans of soda. "Here you go. She's fine, Toni, and she'll want to talk in the morning." A smile. "So, hanging out in silence?"

"Well, yeah -- you're so young, but you Ā stick up for what you believe in and try Ā to do good. What's not to respect?"
She's laughing at her own joke. Captain America, ladies and gentlemen.
