random facts and headcanons for my john walker. might add more to this or do a part 2 as i think of more. some of these are taken from the mcu/comics and some are my own personal ones.
grew up on a farm in custer's grove, georgia with his parents (celeb and emily), brother (mike, deceased. former army, killed in combat) sister (kate).
in high school john was an slightly average student excelled in history but failed drama class. he was the captain of the junior varsity football team. he occasionally skipped classes with his best friend, lemar. they'd go out behind the storage shed near the track field and smoke cigarettes and talk about their plans after graduating to join the army. he met olivia, who became his high school sweetheart in their junior year. he married her right after graduating West Point.
john worked on his family's farm all year round from the time he was old enough to help out. tending to the animals, mowing the fields, whatever work needed to be done. oddly enough he actually enjoyed doing it despite complaining about it all the time.
he excelled during his training in the army. he tested off the charts with speed, agility, endurance. he was a model solider and upon ending his boot camp he was sent to afghanistan along with lemar who was also stationed there. during that time, that time he led a mission with a small group of soldiers. however, they were all caught and held captive and tortured for weeks. he managed to escape and free them but john was the only one who made it back to base camp. the others had been too badly injured or died in the extreme heat of the desert. he has a lot of PTSD of his days in the middle east and considers it the worst part of his life.
he speaks farsi, dari, and spanish fluently. he can speak enough russian to get by.
he won three medals of valor. first person in american history.
upon returning home the government wanted him to be the new face for captain america. which made him not only a 'superhero' but also a celebrity. john knew that would happen and prepared himself for it even though it took some getting used to as he tended to enjoy staying out of the spotlight.
the death of his friend lemar made john go off the deep end and he took nagel's super solider serum which he found laying on the floor after a fight with the flag smashers.
while already at peak human performance, the serum gave him enhanced strength allowing him to lift roughly 11 tons. enhanced durability - making his bones and muscles denser. enhanced speed - allowing him to run faster than a normal human. enhanced agility - he has perfect balance, dexterity, and equilibrium. he can jump vertically around 150-200 feet depending on situation. enhanced stamina -- he doesn't get tired or fatigued easily. enhanced reflexes - he's quick to move. regenerative healing -- it takes him a very short time to heal from broken bones, cuts, bruises, and sickness. longvegity -- the serum has slowed down his aging process meaning he will live longer than the average human.
he's a master hand to hand combatant - boxing, taekwondo, judo, krav maga, capoeria.
while not having any formal training as a gymnast, he can do front and back flips, cartwheel and spin kicks.
master marksman with all firearms. he carries a glock 17 and a WE Hi-Capa 7.0
he can fly aircrafts - planes, jets, helicopters.
personality - when it comes down to it he has his heart in the right place always choosing to save and protect innocents and the people he cares about. he's fiercely loyal to those he loves. he was very astute in the military always making the optimal decisions during battle, he wanted to do his best while taking up the captain america name. he's prone to violent outbursts. he has deep-seating insecurity and a very fragile ego that can shatter at any time which can lead him to making terrible choices. he suffers from PTSD from the days he was in the military which he chooses to keep to himself rather than getting therapy for it. he'll emotionally shut down and turn people away if things are bothering him. he has a very sarcastic, sassy attitude with people especially if he thinks that he's better than them. his way is always the best way.
he was discharged from the military and would receive no benefits after killing a flag smasher with the captain america shield.
recruited by val and became us agent to work for her doing 'clean up' or whatever sort of dirty tasks she needed him to do.
he and olivia divorced because of him becoming too wrapped up in his down fall and also hiding what he was doing for val.
he bonded with the group that val originally sent them to kill each other. later they formed the new avengers.
some random headcanons
john loves to cook. he doesn't really experiment with his own creations but can follow a recipe. he finds it relaxing and cathartic.
favorite music is rap/hip hop and metal -- anything loud he can listen to and lose himself in especially when he's training.
favorite foods - mexican. he loves tacos despite bob bending his shield into one.
favorite drinks - spicy margaritas, beer, whiskey. any time he visits new orleans he has to get a hand grenade. takes his coffee black.
favorite type of sweets is anything chocolate and peanut butter
he loves history. especially military history.
he loves wood working and welding.
his love language is acts of service.
bad habits - occasionally smoking, bites his fingernails. leaves the toilet seat up.
generally he's pretty tidy due to his time in the army.
prefers dogs over cats. he grew up with both along with chickens, cows, horses, and pigs on his family farm.
he dresses casually. prefers t-shirts, henleys, flannels, jeans, and boots. he used love being neatly groomed when he was in the military but now he's known for a scruffy beard and unkempt hair.
he's very sexual. intense and passionate. willing to try anything once. he's dominant. talks dirty. loves being bitten. loves when his girl rides him. eating his girl out. lots of eye contact during sexy times. can be very quiet or vary vocal it depends on the situation and who he's with.
he's an ass guy. likes short mini skirts on his girl or tight jeans.
he enjoys horror and action movies. romance movies he always falls asleep during.
secretly wants a family someday. lots of kids. but knows that's not likely to happen.
loves taking a ride on his motorcycle to clear his head.
favorite types of dates are extremely low key. grabbing drinks a bar and playing pool. hanging out next to a fire and cuddling. going to a football game. going to a country fair. would prefer going to chili's rather than some five star restaurant.
he would prefer going camping in the woods to a beach vacation.
he's an autumn guy.
he's an early riser. up at 4:30-5 am every morning. that means he likes to go to bed around 10:00pm if he can. he doesn't need a lot of sleep due to the serum but he still likes to be in bed.
