Anna fought Nina again. It could be considered a success if she prevented her from achieving her objective? Probably not because she lost. She keeps losing.
And when she loses, she remembers that this is not her true call. It's not her place. She can perform her job well enough, but she hates it, dreads it. Inflicting pain on others isn't glamorous. Blood can make things messy and poison isn't much better although it does have a dramatic effect which she loves.
The fight was stopped just before she could be taken out with Tekken Force soldiers circling them. A tranquilizer dart was more than enough to take her sister out and she panicked upon seeing people bringing a stretcher.
“Wait… Where are you taking her?”
“To Doctor B's lab. Orders from Boss.” A soldier replied. Anna tilted her head and followed the soldiers into the chopper. Which was fine, she was part of the Force too, more or less.
When they landed, Anna followed the crowd back into the lab. Doctor B seemed very excited seeing them.
“Ah, she is perfect. Absolutely perfect. Young and strong. She can definitely endure the experiment.” He babbled to no one in particular.
“Experiment, old man?” Anna raised a brow at him.
“And who are you, Miss?”
“I'm her sister. What type of experiment are you going to do on her?”
The doctor hummed, a small smile decorating his wrinkled face.
“Ever thought about what would happen if we found a way to preserve human bodies for years and years and then wake them up at a later date?”
Anna narrowed her eyes, huffing in annoyance.
“I apologize, Doc. Sci-fi isn't my favorite genre. What's the objective here?”
“Oh, many things. We could freeze people with incurable illnesses and wake them up years later when the cure is found. We could freeze dead bodies until we found a way of bringing them back. The possibilities are endless!”
Anna watched her sister's body being prepared by two female nurses. Some product being applied to her skin. Things injected on her veins. It made her purse her lips in worry.
“Can she die out of this bullshit?”
The Doctor hummed.
“Technically, the experiment itself is death. But we have the technology to fully reanimate the body with no consequences.”
“How long do you plan to keep her asleep?” Anna's voice was low. Her mind was already pushing her to do it. Her mother would want her to accompany Nina, no matter what.
“Just a couple of years. Enough to validate the experiment to the community. If it works, it will be a huge breakthrough.” The doctor replied, hitting some buttons and adjusting levers.
“Is Nina your only subject?”
“Yes, she is.” The man's voice sounded distant, as if he was hiding something. Something that nobody needed to know.
“I want to volunteer.”
“What?”
“I want to be an experiment as well. Put me to sleep.”
“W-why would you subject yourself like that?”
Anna's eyes widened with the simple, logical question. Why was Anna doing this? Without Nina in this world, there would be no one she needed to prove herself to, right? She could give up the assassin's life… Trying to land a role in a b movie and go to have the life she deserves, no?
“Family is everything, Anna.”
Richard’s stupid voice echoed inside her head. Famous dumb last words. The guy who treated her like shit for years saying that family was everything. Bloody hell.
“Well… You see… If my sister gets frozen now and is woken up in the future… She will look younger than me and that's not fair. I want to remain as pretty as her.”
She internally grimaced. That was the most fucked up, bullshit excuse she could give. But no one would believe it if she just said she wanted to stay beside the sister she was trying to kill just a few hours prior, right? Right.
“Would you go through such an experiment… Just for vanity?” The Doctor chuckled, but he wasn't saying no. “Yelena, prepare a second chamber for Miss Anna Williams.”
“Right now, Doctor.” Yelena went to do what she was commanded and soon, Doctor B gave Anna a piece of paper and a pen.
“Since you weren't originally part of the experiment, I would like you to give your consent.”
“She wasn't asked for hers?”
“She is a prisoner. You are not.”
“Want to stop me from suing you in the future, huh?”
“More or less.”
Anna rolled her eyes and wrote her consent. The consent extends only to the Cold Sleep and nothing else. She also demanded to be brought back as soon as Nina was. Should she warn Chaolan about this? Would he even care? He was a catch. It wasn't like he wouldn't have a replacement for her in just a couple of days. He would be fine. That's why she liked him in the first place. He was resilient.
After the preparations were done, Anna went into the chamber. The tranquilizer was doing its job. Shutting down her consciousness.
“It's fucking freezing…” She scoffed and her eyes were wide shut. For the next 19 years.

Chaolan was getting some backups of his latest projects when the Tekken Force soldiers invaded his office, weapons pointed at him.
“What do you guys want?” He put his hands up, mentally counting the amount of soldiers while the files were being copied. It was just logical to him, Kazuya was dead, as far as he was concerned. So, Heihachi would be back to his position as the head of the organization.
“The Boss wants to see you.”
“Of course he wants… Put the guns down, I am not resisting, am I?”
The soldiers looked at each other and obeyed. At this specific moment, he still was their superior. After taking what was necessary, he followed the soldiers until half the hallway. Then he started to fight them.
One by one, the soldiers were getting knocked out by his strength. When most of them were out, he made his way towards the front door, only to meet Heihachi, arms crossed, his evil scowl looking back at Lee.
“Fleeing like a coward, are you? You offered yourself to work with Kazuya, but you will abandon your father, won't you?”
“No, Sir… That's not…” The excuse sounds weak even to Chaolan himself. “You know I didn't have a choice… Kazuya is a literal devil… “
“You think I am stupid? You were helping him even before that! I could and should kill you right here, right now. But I won't. It would be a waste for this world to lose a mind as sharp as yours. Get out.”
“Y-you… You're letting me live?”
“Don't get emotional. I just think you are no threat to me. Leave.”
Heihachi stepped out of the way and Lee passed by him. As soon as the gates were open, the elder man kicked him out, quite literally, making Chaolan fall in the middle of the street.
Ugh, the humiliation…
He rose back to his feet, frowning as he checked if nothing was broken in his body. But no, he was fine.
Six months have passed since the second tournament. Mishima Zaibatsu was as powerful and aggressive as always under Heihachi.
Lee had saved up a lot of money, so he was starting to invest it on a business of his own and with his abilities of negotiations and delivering excellence in products, his start up was blooming under the light of a new era of technological innovations.
As he was browsing through some old things of his, he found an old note, left to him by Anna. It had a kiss print and the promise for them to meet on the next day, but they never met again.
She didn't contact him anymore. Did she forget him?
He stopped thinking about this. He found other girls. Including an employee from Mishima Zaibatsu.
Yelena was pretty and her Russian accent made her adorable. She melted easily into his arms, even if she wasn't particularly falling in love or anything.
In their conversations, Yelena let it slip that she was in charge of overseeing an experiment by Doctor Bosconovitch. Two sisters were put in cryogenic sleep. Nina and Anna Williams.
Chaolan's heart sank into his chest.
“Uh… Did you say Williams?”
“Yes. You used to work on Mishima Zaibatsu, Sir. You know things are… Shady a lot of times. Miss Nina Williams was captured after the second tournament.”
He nodded, he was aware that Kazuya intended to take Nina out of the field, as he thought that her very existence was a hindrance to his plans. But Anna?
“But Anna wasn't captured, right?”
Yelena shook her head.
“No. She asked to be put in the experiment as well. She even signed a paper. Said she wanted to remain as pretty as her sister.”
The words surprised him. No warning. Not even a call. Did he give her too much space or…? But Anna's reasoning to sleep was very… Anna-like. He sighed.
“Well… It can't be helped… “ He shrugged it off.
But in the next few years, the idea of what could have been if he had just done things differently. If he didn't give her that much space. If he was more assertive about his feelings, about his needs.
Maybe when and if she wakes up… He will ask her on a date again.
