The Signs The Signs The Signs The Signs:
Aries: Do you remember the dream? Something sprints on all fours, mangled stumps where there used to be wings. It is weeping. It has no teeth. It had no name, and rightly so.
Taurus: Tomorrow morning you will find an ornate silver spoon on your side table. It will be an exquisite, beautiful thing. It will seem to glisten in the morning light with more colors than you ever thought possible. Do not touch it. Do not mention it to anyone else.
Gemini: In the dead of winter strange birds rest in the branches of the old oak trees in the park. Strange skinless birds with feathers like dry leaves. They feast on fear. Do not spend more than one night under their home, or you will lose the ability to fear things you should.
Cancer: Your hair stands on end, not from some visceral gut reaction or sudden temperature drop. But from something you cant see, gliding a limb across your arm.
Leo: A palace of cloth. Layers upon layers of lost blankets and rugs that were never made. There are no seats, but the floor is soft like a worn mattress. The residents are silent, wrapped in scarves and mismatched coats.
Virgo: The bombed out remains of an assembly line. When the foundation was destroyed it revealed the pit beneath the granite and concrete. Several sheets of white cloth are suspended over the maw, blowing in the wind.
Libra: A moonlit night over a garden in Luxembourg. The lights of the city below mirror the stars above. The waitresses smile is too wide. You feel something running down your leg.
Scorpio: Some long anonymous hallway. There are exit signs in places where there should not be. You see one of those little piles of stones you see by rivers sometimes.
Ophiuchus: A diner in the early morning. Light just sort of seems to stick to everything wrong. The old woman next to you is reading a book in a language you cant recognize.
Sagittarius: A lonely road surrounded by trees and windbreaks. The driving is fine for now but you can feel in the air how dangerous this place is when freezing rain blankets the mountainside.
Capricorn: The water park at closing time. Covered in sunburns, you hold your dates hand. They seem distant, fading with the sun.
Aquarius: Among the parade are people dressed in white. They march in step but carry no instruments. The other players dont seem to notice them.
Pisces: The aftermath is just that. Ruin is static. With aftermath there is work to be done.
