Saw the proshot again the other day and I absolutely adore the guy a couple rows in front of me who not only gasped when Orpheus turned around, but proceeded to shout, âFUCK!â in the most devastated way Iâve ever heard.
My dad loved Hadestown. In his words, âI donât know how many musicals Iâve watched with you over the years, but this was my favorite.â
Which is, like, a 5 star review from him lol. (The poor man had to endure me watching various musicals over and over when I was a teen. He has been through it.)
I didnât have a chance to tell him anything prior to the movie so after he asked about Hadesâ boot. I explained what happened to Patrick and he was like, âAh. I wondered. It was really cool and made his movements strange. I liked it.â
Iâm also 90% sure he cried at one point, but heâll never admit to that.
Just going to get something off my chest. Spoilers for Good Omens season 3.
I think my problem with the end of season 2 and season 3 of Good Omens is that Aziraphale learned his lesson and made his choice in season 1, but the writers keep making him backpedal.
When I first read the book in 2010, I very much related to Crowley. I had grown up in church, had been very dedicated to it, and was heavily involved in ministry. But I had questions. I didnât understand why the church was so cruel to other people. I didnât get why we cared so much about certain things, but I also knew questioning was just âa lack of faithâ.
But Crowley also had questions. And he got punished for having them. But even though he was a demon, he was still loved by an angel, and still cared for humanity and he very much still believed that having questions was okay. And that brought me comfort.
And then the show came out and Aziraphale goes up the chain of command trying to suggest âthere doesnât have to be a warâ until he gets to the number 2 person in all of heaven: the one who speaks FOR GOD. And heâs told the same thing. âThe point is to win the war.â And I remember the look on Aziraphaleâs face (kudos to Michaelâs acting chops) because I KNEW that look. Iâd worn that expression. That disappointment and resignation and discouragement at the supposed âmorally goodâ side being cruel and uncaring. That moment made me break down.
Season 1 of Good Omens is what inspired me to finally leave the church after twenty years. Because I saw that choosing people, choosing humanity, didnât make you a bad person. Sure heaven, or the church might look down upon you, but it was the morally right decision to choose to love people.
And Aziraphale learned that lesson. He stood up to the angels and to Satan and to Death and he defended Adam and humanity and he chose them and he chose Crowley. âWeâre on our own sideâ Crowley said as they shared a bottle of wine while waiting for a bus to take them home. He went behind enemy lines for Crowley. He switched bodies to protect Crowley because he KNEW Hell would destroy him the same way Heaven would destroy Aziraphale.
And yet Iâm supposed to believe that Aziraphale would willingly choose to go back to heaven? That, even to âstop the Second Comingâ (which, wellâŠ) heâd leave Crowley behind FOR YEARS?! Heâd cut Crowley off and abandon him for people who had actively tried to kill them both? Heâd abandon all the things he defied heaven the first time for? Heâd leave his bookshop and his neighbors his music and his food and wine and CROWLEY?!
It might have been believable if he and Crowley had worked out a plan together BEFORE he left. Maybe he does go back but Crowley is in on it and theyâre working together and conspiring⊠that might have been fun.
I think the reason it feels so sour to me is that Aziraphale is WHY I escaped. He did it, therefore so could I. He truly was an inspiration to me, and was instrumental in my now deconstruction from religion.
So to see him go back, KNOWING what heaven tried to do to him, knowing what they did to Crowley, knowing what they wanted to do to the world he loved so much? It doesnât feel fathomable. He learned that lesson at the end of season one. Why make him forget it over and over again, just for the sake of conflict?
You could probably make an argument for it being a metaphor for an abusive relationship or something, and the struggle of ever truly being free from something like that. But I honestly just blame lazy writing.
(I also have a lot of problems with Gabriel and Beezlebub getting the ending Crowley and Aziraphale deserved without any of the struggle or buildup. Like it was cute sure, but it wasnât deserved, and considering the bittersweet end we did get (emphasis on bitter), it now leaves a very sour taste in my mouth.)
Anyway. I projected way too much onto a fictional character and it came back to bite me in the ass. đ€·đ»ââïž

Crowley and Aziraphale touch (kiss?) and their respective angelic/demonic essences burn each other. They work through it over the years, continuing a sexual relationship that still physically hurts them until after Armageddon theyâve built up such a tolerance for the other that the angelic fire and holy water donât affect them.
Does anyone know the name of this fic or what happened to it? Iâm dying to read it again.
I have mixed feelings about the Good Omens finale. I liked some stuff, didnât like others. I think the biggest problem is that the whole thing was already soured because of Gaimanâs actions.
That said, I think my definitive opinion on the show is an equal amount of the following:
I wish we hadnât gotten a season 2 or 3, because the story of the book/season 1 wraps everything up perfectly, and that ending is whatâs best for them: being together, and being on earth which they also love so dearly.
Because we did get a season 2, Iâm glad that we got what we did of season 3, because at least now thereâs closure. The story is officially done, and now I can move on. I donât love the ending; I donât hate it either. But it happened and itâs over and I am free.
I think going forward, Iâm going to treat seasons 2-3 of Good Omens the way I treat Love Never Dies (sequel musical to Phantom of the Opera): it doesnât add anything to the original story I fell in love with, and while there are elements I somewhat enjoy, I prefer to stick with the original media, and ignore all the âpost-canonâ sequel nonsense.
And I think thatâs the best part about seasons 2-3. Theyâre there if you want them. But they arenât required to enjoy the original piece of media.
I missed the notice that the GO3 trailer was dropping today so I just opened instagram to the best surprise!
Cautiously optimistic about the finale; laughing hysterically that (part of) the plot is that heaven/hell have lost a Very Important Person yet again. đ it never gets old, honestly.

I saw on Andrew Wincottâs instagram a clip from the Bafta Games in Concertâ and there was, like, some kind of music video on the screen of him and Mariya singing Raphaelâs Final Act. Iâve tried to find it online but canât seem to. Does anyone know if that music video has been/will be released?

I wonder if they will change it so that Trent is responsible for killing Mollymauk.
Lorenzo and Jester/Fjord/Yasha getting kidnapped was more out of real-world necessity due to Ashleyâs other job and Laura and Travis having Ronin. He was a side quest to waste time while real world events resolved- not that it was a bad waste of time. But it probably wouldnât have happened if Travis and Laura hadnât had to take time off.
Animated shows are expensive, and theyâve already killed off Gustav because he ultimately served no further purpose in the campaign, and his death was a good motivator story-wise to get Molly to move on from the carnival and travel with the group.
Having Trent kill Molly at the party would be much more impactful. We still get the horror of his untimely death, and it also gives the rest of the Nein a personal reason to want to stop Trent.
I may be way off base, but itâs fun to theorize!

Regardless of what their major was, Sonar is determined to prove that Harvard has the better professors, classes, graduates, etc.
Sonar opens his locker after a mission in which his suit is completely trashed to find all his extra shirts/jackets have been stolen, and in their place is a Yale sweater
It becomes increasingly obvious Sonar is totally in love, but he denies it, claiming heâd never date someone from such a second-rate university
Either right before or way after they start dating Sonar learns they only engaged in the rivalry because it riled him up and he, âmade the cutest squeaks when heâs angryâ
The rivalry continues, but the argument now always ends with them in bed, and honestly, Sonarâs okay with that
