mother nature stepped in on this too because just the other week a tourist died climbing Uluru. leave it alone.
This is off-topic for my blog but here are three reasons why you shouldnโt climb Uluru:
itโs dangerous, people have died climbing it and many more have been injured.
it damages the rock, you can see where the trail is because of all the wear and because thereโs obviously no bathrooms on top thereโs a whole lot of rubbish, used toilet paper and tampons on top further ruining the environment for future generations.
THE TRADITIONAL OWNERS HAVE ASKED YOU NOT TOO. Imagine if people were climbing, shitting on and leaving used tampons on a site significant to you (a church, war memorial, a place of cultural significance i.e. the Louvre.
I will also add that thereโs plenty of other stuff to do around there: a tour about the cultural significance of Uluru and the surrounding area, a walk around the rock and watching sunrise and sunset on the rock.
Also btw itโs called Uluru not Ayerโs Rock now.
Aboriginal elders in conjunction with the Australian government are taking away the rope that allows people to free climb and starting guided tours around the region telling people about the origin stories that make Uluru so sacred to them. They want your tourism! They want to share their stories! They do NOT want you to clamber over and damage their ancestors.

MCโs Guidebook: Traveling
We all travel to different places. Traveling can be as small as going to school or going to a different state(maybe country but I havenโt been so I canโt give accurate information on that). We all travel and sometimes we need a way to be able to stay in touch with the witchy part of our lives.
โโ
Why Travel?
Traveling gives us opprotunities to see things we havenโt seen before go to places weโve never been and to find new things, meet new people and find things to bring home.
How can Traveling be Witchy?
Simple! Take the time to travel to learn more about your craft or to get a fresh breath of air before you go back into your craft. Traveling can help you discover new paths you want to take and give you ideas on how you want your craft to be like.
Where can I Travel thatโs Witchy?
Honestly anywhere but forests, lakes, woods, rivers, small towns, mountains, etc. can all be witchy places to visit. Why? Because most of witchcraft has to do with nature. Whether it be ingredients or simply meditation nature can go a long way into helping your craft. Maybe even go to the Town of Salem for some history! However, a trip is always just something fun to do so keep in mind your family as well :)(family holidays etc)
What Do I Bring thatโs Witchy?
Most people actually have Travel Altars they bring with them on trips far from home or just keep on them wherever they go.
You should probably bring you some books, a tarot deck(if you have one), your book of shadows and a pen/pencil.
What is a Travel Altar?
A travel altar is a mini altar, much like if you have one at home. This altar is used to help cast spells when you need one suddenly or when youโre not home. Travel Altars are usually in an Altoids Mint tin as they are small and usually easy to find.
What do I Put in a Travel Altar?
A small Pendulum(handmade or boughten)
A candle
Matches/A lighter
Some string
4 small items to represent the four elements(feather=air, acorn= earth, matches=fire, seashell=water)
A pocket knife
This is what I have in mine. You can put anything in here really. Whatever you deem you usually need you can put it in this.
How Do I Make a Travel Altar?
Itโs usually really simple. Empty a small portable box/tin. Something that can be slid into your jacket pocket and or purse easily. Then you can decorate it. Mine is nothing special just the Altoids tin. But some put up mini devotionals yo their gods/goddesses, or simply add in cute decorative paper to the inside and outside of the tin to appeal to them. Then once you have the altar looking how you want it, add in your items you want to include!
Why Have One?
You never know when you need a spell. Plus, somethings can be helpful(ie, the matches) with survival if you do get lost on your travels.
How Do I Witch Travel Safely?
If youโre going somewhere you dont know like the woods, mountains etc keep this in mind:
1. Keep your phone with you. Your phones have compasses in them that can help you. If yours doesnโt get one from the app store.
2. Make sure friends and family know where you will be and when they should expect you. Give them an estimate on when to call for help(โif Iโm not back by 12 wait 30 minuets before calling for help.โ).
3. Map where youte going. Keep tabs on landmarks etc. Write them down(book of shadows and a pen or pencil sound familiar??)
4. Bring food and water with you! You never know what can happen.
5. Bring something to ID yourself. Especially if police are looking for you.
6. Donโt eat anything you find in the wild unless youโre absolutely sure itโs safe(ie took a class to tell poisonous plants from non poisonous.
If youโre just staying home and about the town:
1. Keep your phone with you. Make sure family and friends know where youโre at and when you should be back.
2. Be cautious with strangers and people following you. Maybe have some pepper spray or a legal tazer.
3. Stay in well lit and well frequented areas(parks, walking paths)
4. If you can, donโt go alone.
What Can I Do When Traveling?
You can find really cool and free stuff! If youโre out in the woods, you can most likely see if you can find some animal bones, some cool leaves, rocks, pinecones, flowers, etc.
If youโre in town you wonโt find any bones but quite possibly feathers, acorns, flowers, pinecones etc. You could also check out shops for anything witchy as well!
**If you so plan on picking up bones and feathers please remember to check with the areas legal regulations and restrictions on doing so.**
Sincerely,
The Sleepy Witch
