sorry i haven’t been as active. there’s a lot of bullshit going on with my family andmy shitty love life. on top of that, for the next 2 days i have to be up at 3:30 in the morning for my job so im pretty exhausted by the time i get home.

It hadn’t escaped his attention that she was beautiful, but at the current moment in time, his appetite was lured to the morsels upon the table instead of sitting in the chair beside him. “A very English name, I am guessing?” 

He didn’t know, but there were quite the few things that he had been unaware of in English society. Especially those that said a woman had to wear their hair up in such matronly fashions. He’d be a happy man to see all the young women around the table let down their lovely locks, but as he was not a resident of such an advanced country, he remained silent upon the matter. 

While so many seemed to find disdain in his origins, he could only hope this beauty would not judge him too harshly as judgment followed him to whatever juncture he came to. “From the forests surrounding the Carpathians,” he admitted, not giving a town’s name for there was no town name to give. His family had been forest dwellers, moving with the seasons to find better hunting grounds. “And  you? You’re from London?”

If she had her way, she wouldn’t have been here. Not that she was going to let that little detail slip. The whole “pretty face” charade would only work if they bought that she was at ease here, wouldn’t it? 

Her own sense of smell didn’t lie either, and this new man had caught her attention for that reason. He wasn’t her contact, but his scent was enough to remind her to be on her toes. 

“Maybe I like the show,” she replied, nudging the lime in her drink with the little black cocktail straw. “Alcohol and people. It’s always an interesting mix. Utterly predictable, but somehow it never has the same outcome twice.” 

He never regarded true humans with anything other than what he could get out of them. Either their money, sex, food, or clothing was something those that hadn’t felt the pangs of being something other than normal were willing to part with, to give away happily. 

Smile pulled upon his lips as he regarded her before waving the bar tender over to fill his own glass up with yet another drink. A few more and he would be gone from the world for a few hours, free to enjoy in drunken bliss where memories could not touch him. Without bid, he bought her another cocktail with a flashing smile. 

“Ah, yes. I happen to enjoy the bravery that those with liquid courage attempt to display. It’s always fun to be a part of a bar room brawl.”
