My favorite part about writing is that first spark of an idea. It can happen at any time, for any reason. The idea for the Opalite music video crash landed into my imagination when I was doing promo for The Life of a Showgirl. I was a guest on one of my favorite shows, The Graham Norton Show. For those of you who aren’t familiar, it’s a UK late night show where Graham Norton (the insanely charismatic and lovable host) invites a random group of actors, entertainers, musicians, etc to be on his show and we all sit there and chat like it’s a dinner party. They even serve wine. Anyway. I remember thinking I got ridiculously lucky with the group I was paired with. Cillian Murphy, Domhnall Gleeson, Greta Lee, Jodie Turner-Smith, and Lewis Capaldi. All people whose work I’ve admired from afar. When we were all talking during the broadcast, Domhnall made a light hearted joke about wanting to be in one of my music videos. He’s Irish! He was joking! Except that in that moment during the interview, I was instantly struck with an *idea*. And so a week later he received an email script I’d written for the Opalite video, where he was playing the starring role. I had this thought that it would be wild if all of our fellow guests on the Graham Norton show that night, including Graham himself, could be a part of it too. Like a school group project but for adults and it isn’t mandatory. To my delight, everyone from the show made the effort to time travel back to the 90’s with us and help with this video. You might even recognize some friendly faces from The Eras Tour. I got to work with one of my favorite people in the world, Rodrigo Prieto, again! I had more fun than I ever imagined - Made new friends, metaphors, and fashion choices. It was an absolute thrill to create this story and these characters. Shot on film. I’m really feeling very ‘YOYOK’ lately. I tore muscles in my leg on a trip abroad and it cost me so much out of pocket and I had to leave the trip early, I’m now really low on funds and worried about money. I have travel insurance but who knows if they’ll accept the claim or deny it. They’re taking their sweet time doing anything about it.

I haven’t been able to walk much so have had a manual wheelchair I had to rent but this city is impossible to self wheel myself around without rolling into the roads or getting stuck, so I’ve been reliant on my husband when he’s not busy.

I HATE not being able to be independent, it makes me feel really needy and low. I’m trying to graduate onto crutches but even then, I can’t go out and say, buy a coffee and hobble to the park to enjoy it in the sun because I can’t use the crutches and carry it.

I’ve felt trapped inside the apartment staring out at the sunny days on weekends which is disastrous for my mood.

This coupled with the few ‘friends’ I have here since I left my home country and all of those friends behind 8 years ago, letting me down last minute for rubbish reasons, shattering my self worth further.

I’m feeling pretty lonely and sad.

I used to be so much more independently happy in England where I could hop in my car and be at the seaside or in the open countryside etc so readily and easily and take myself on adventures without needing anyone else. Nature was my companion.

The city in a different country is a very different story. I’d have to drive 4 or more hours to get to anywhere like that, it’s landlocked so no ocean, and I have too terrible an anxiety of driving on highways here to be able to go far.

I feel so trapped and low and I’m tired of concrete and noise and having no dependable female friendships.

Six nights in Toronto where I am and I couldn’t get tickets to any of the nights 😭💔 Toronto was where I saw Rep tour and saw Taylor for the very first time as I was finally able to afford to.

hey let's have this conversation again since the like/reblog ratio is getting SOOOO much worse. if you like content, reblog it. the people who follow you cannot see when you've liked a post, unless your likes are visible and they are routinely going through them, which i assure you they are not. by reblogging content, you are making it visible to other accounts. fanart, gifs, edits, etc. may be fun to make but they are very time consuming and it is much appreciated that if you enjoy them, you take the brief moment to reblog them to show that appreciation - and it helps. as fun as they may be, it is often kind of discouraging for posts to not do well because for every one person that reblogged it, five left a like and kept it pushing

My one and only Eras Tour show was on Friday 16th August in Wembley. I’m from the UK but live in Canada now so flew all the way from Toronto to attend as it’s proved impossible to get tickets here in Toronto so far. I’m sure I had amazing night but it feels like I blacked out, there are just whole patches I can’t remember, like I wasn’t really there even though I was so present I barely took and show photos or videos. It’s such a strange sensation. Now that I’m home I keep randomly crying and feel this weird sense of grief that I may not get to go again to experience the magic. I should be happy I got to attend at all as I know so many have not been able to. I feel selfish for it but I’m SO SAD right now. I waited such a long time and it was over in a flash. Anyway….here’s my outfit I made that I spent a ridiculous amount of time on and loved skipping around London wearing. I had never embroidered before in my life but I just about managed to wing it for the collar!
