Social Media Detox
A State of the Art, The Present and Future State of Music (long title, I know) from 3GM.hu looks at the current statistics behind music streaming and consumption. Personally, I can’t believe the statistic that 85% of listening is still consumed from the Radio?!? I haven’t listened to an actual radio station for years! I listen to everything through my iPhone.

Seeing as how I need a new job (once again, long story - you should hire me!) and am a woman (girl, whatever), I figured this would be a relevant image to share.

One of the coolest things about working at DP is not only that we can bring our dogs to work, but that most of us actually DO bring them. Who Gives the Most Trusted Recommendations? | eMarketer
"...the human element remains key to engendering trust. Internet users worldwide reported a nearly 50% increase in their trust of social network contacts giving product recommendations, and a 21% increase for microblog contacts. Even though many of those contacts are likely sharing some professional content with or alongside their personal recommendations, professional sources of information like newspapers and TV barely gained any trust over the same period."

my friend’s awesome pikachu edit! :D
Totally not social media related, but um.... CUTE.
...which is not (of course) compatible with macs. Unless "you have Windows (XP, Vista, 7) and Excel 2007/2010 running on your Mac using Parallels or Boot Camp".
But if you ARE using windows and you spend as much time as I do on reports, then you just freed up 40 hours a month.
As for me? I'm totally bummed.
For those of you who've used the new excel add-in: is it as good as it looks?

Foursquare released this inforgraphic which shows usage and adoption patterns across the globe.
I am pleasantly surprised to see New Zealand as bright as it is considering the number of users we have here. I predict that by the end of this year, we’ll be much brighter on a similar list.
Remember when no one had color screens & cameras on their mobiles..and, suddenly everyone had one? I think the rate of adoption of smartphones - facilitated by low-end cost effective models will also happen at a similar pace.

Your Facebook Activity Is Now An Ad
Facebook is launching a new ad format called "Sponsored Stories," which allows participating advertisers to promote your Facebook activity by turning it into homepage ads seen only by your friends. This activity can include "liking" a Facebook page, checking in via Facebook Places or sharing content to the News Feed from a Facebook application.
These shares, which would have appeared in your friends' News Feeds anyway, are now given special promotion by way of a Facebook ad that appears on the right-hand side of the homepage. The ad will display your friend's name, photo, a picture and link to the relevant Facebook Page or application, plus any likes and comments.
I can't help but think that this option is going to be TOTALLY awesome for a number of upcoming campaigns. This is definitely something I will recommend.
