one of the main arguments that people bring up when it comes to the whole Pokemon Intelligence debate is that "they can't even talk they just make noises like wild animals" which pisses me off the most because like Yes they fucking can, if you watched the anime you would know this, when they make Noises they are Speaking in a language that is directly translatable into english via meowth. i feel like theres a middle ground between "all pokemon are LITERALLY ANIMALS and have the same amount of cognition as a dog" and "there is nothing animal-like about pokemon behavior or appearancewise, and they are 1:1 with people". because when i say that "all pokemon have humanlike intelligence" people seem to think im saying the 2nd one when im really not.

this reminds me of when i was a kid and i got so fucking mad at people making jokes about pokemon battles being equivalent to dogfighting and that the trainers are forcing it on them. ive always been really precious over pokemon
