“well if the cia is hiring for any sort of hacking job then you’ll know where to find me,” scarlett said. she furrowed her brows as he spoke, “the world is huge, carson. taking a few years to just experience something different sounds freeing.” she sighed, enjoying the thrum in her body, the way she felt like she was kind of floating. she leaned her head back and closed her eyes. the smell of the jasmine from the incense hit her nose. she leaned her head on his shoulder absently, lost in thought. when he mentioned family, her mind instantly pictured chris, and she felt a terrible hole in the pit of her stomach at the thought of not visiting him. but it was almost too much sometimes. what would she even say to him? she caught herself zoning out and sat up straight, clearing her throat. “sorry,” she said hoarsely.
“okay, hot shot.” he said with a laugh, he agreed with what she was saying to a certain extent but would never admit it. he’s been ‘anti-explore the world’ for as long as he could remember. its what his mom went to do and well, she never came back. they sat in a comfortable silence, both lost in their own thoughts. as she rested her head gently on his shoulder, he tensed before completely relaxing. he had never felt so at ease with a girl before. when she sat up straight and apologized, his brows furrowed in confusion, “for what? you didn’t do anything wrong.”
