I don't understand this movement. Honestly, AI is actually useful for people who don't have the money to hire voice actors. Plus, its useful for people who create videos for fun. (I.E gaming videos with president voices)
Yes but AI takes away from people who do this work for a living and it puts them out of work. If movies and TV shows start to get produced and written with AI, thousands of people will not be able to earn a paycheck. We’re talking about people’s ability to put food on the table and also this is their passion. Creatives get into this business (talking specifically about Hollywood and the actors and writers strikes for a moment but it applies to video games as well) for the love of the craft as well, and AI has the potential to rip that from them. Thats why people are fighting it, and I support them.
Art is supposed to be about humanity and there’s not much humanity in AI produced work.
There's also the fact that almost everything created with AI is trash. You can spot an AI article within a few sentences because it's straight up junk. AI voice acting sucks too. AI drawings are generic and often uncanny. Protecting the arts isn't just about protecting the artists, though that's super important. It's also about protecting the entire world from being drowned in worthless media because it's cheap to produce.
You have not seen Soldie's Spongebob videos. You have not lived, my man.
