So like, I know that the real reason why Hogan never kills anyone directly is because its a comedy show from the 1960s. But like. I love how this man is perfectly fine blowing up a train or factory. Or a training with fake fake grenades. But he always seems to struggle with the idea of directly killing a guy (the German scientist that they eventually get on their side with a cute girl always comes to mind).

I like to imagine that somehow he has been able to compartmentalized it. Like not directly killing a person somehow doesn't effect him as badly as killing directly. Like he knows a part of himself would die if he saw his own hands directly end a life. And there is a lot he's willing to sacrifice in this war. But that part isn't it.

I also think it's because there's a difference between the goals. Blowing up a factory has the goal of destroying material, killing someone is pretty much just that. Hogan has probably seen enough and knows how cruel the war is, he's got enough blood on his hands and doesn't want his men with less experience to go through the same
