CAS Final Declaration
LO 1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth. I have met this learning outcome by mentioning things that I have done well and reflected on what I can improve. For example, I identified that being consistent with running is something I should improve, as it is better in the long run.
LO 2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process. I have met this learning outcome, which is evident in posts where I struggled to achieve something at the standard I had hoped, and identified what I had learned by overcoming them. This may be volunteering, cooking, or related to physical activity.
LO 3: Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience. I have demonstrated this LO through my CAS project. I have outlined preliminary steps I the planning process, what we did in order to be able to start, and even changes in plans along the way.
LO 4: Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences. This LO has been demonstrated in my experiences volunteering at a preschool regularly for a period of time, where even with some challenges, I persevered and stayed committed. Likewise, I had some difficulties with continuing my running journey, but continued regardless.
LO 5: Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively. When I volunteered to help at my school's picnic, I stated in my reflection that having a classmate there to work with was a benefit.
LO 6: Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance. Although not explicitly stated in my reflections, an issue of global significance may be my volunteering at a preschool. Although it may not seem significant, there are broader implications of this CAS activity than simply doing it or overcoming challenges. For example, my friends and I learned more about the work of preschool teachers, such as it is not as it may appear to some. I was able to interact with the children, tell them about myself, work with them, and read to them. I have learned about the shaping of young minds, and the work that goes into it. Thus, I have gained more knowledge on the importance of this. Engaging with children, who are the future of our society, is therefore globally significant.
LO 7: Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions. An example of how I have reached this LO can be taken from my CAS project, where my friend and I had to make the unfortunate decision to not continue our project as planned, because selling the practically inedible products would be unethical.
